We stayed here in August 2004. Typically Greek apartment. Adequate space and the usual style of bathroom. Extremely close to beach and nice and quiet. Easy walk to every where else in Kefalos but would recommend hiring push bikes to get around. Would definitely hire fan from owner as it gets very stuffy in room with windows closed. Beware the mossies-they bite! Only down side was infrequent visits by cleaners. Would also recommend keeping room on if leaving late at night.
This was a lovely apartment - very clean and quiet. It is a bit of a walk into the 'centre' but hey - you're on holiday so what's the rush! Room 6 has the best view over the bay. It is definitely worth budgeting for the extra euros to keep the apartment on if you have a night flight. We will go back.
The Zafira Apartments are comfortable and clean, but basic. As all the rooms are twin, we had two single beds pushed together. The kitchen is very small with a fridge with an icebox, and two electric rings, which we only used to boil a pan to make tea (there is no kettle). It would be a good idea to bring a tea towel, as there isn't one provided. The shower doesn't attach to the wall and there is no shower curtain, which is usual in Kos, apparently. As the water is solar-heated, when the apartments are full there’s no hot water after about 8pm. However, for most of our stay there were only guests in three apartments, so we had plenty hot water.
The apartments are very clean, and are cleaned every Wednesday and Saturday by the owner, who even did our dishes and took our glass bottles away for recycling. There is no air-conditioning, but you can rent a fan from the owners for 15 Euros per week. We didn't bother with a fan, but buy a plug-in insect repellent if you're going to keep the balcony door open. The balcony is a good size and has two chairs and a table, and even a clothes horse. In the afternoon, it was a real sun trap, but the balconies on the ground floor were more shaded by the trees in the garden. The owners keep the gardens beautifully, and they are there most days tending to it.
The beach is just a short walk away form the apartments, as is the resort centre. For us, not having a pool was a bonus, as it means that the apartments are very quiet, although there is a bit of noise from the road outside. If you like the use of a pool, don’t worry because there are plenty swimming pools in Kefalos open to the public. There are no safety deposit boxes at the Zafira, but we used ones at the nearby Zeus Hotel, which cost 20 Euros per week. Slightly cheaper safety deposit boxes are available at other hotels, but Zeus is the closest.
The rooms must be vacated by 12 noon on the day of your departure, but for 20 Euros you can keep it on 'til 10pm, or 30 Euros 'til midnight, giving you a whole extra day to enjoy your holiday. You can organise this through your rep or directly with the owner.
All in all, we thought the Zafira Apartments were very good value for money, and we really enjoyed our stay.
Despite the ants (which seem to get everywhere when there is food about, these apartments were very nice, the bathroom typically greek and a danving kettle in the kitchenette. The location was good if you didn't mind a long stroll home in the evening. A good location for the beach and the local Pool Bar 'Dolphin', which did not charge for sunbeds and had nice bar staff!! Would go here again but will remember to pack some decent shoes for the night walk home! Not a good walk for heels!!!
We have stayed in these apartments 5 times, they are very clean, well situated and very comfortable. The owners are extremely pleasant and make sure that they do all they can to ensure that everything is clean and well maintained, last year we even had racks for drying clothes on the balcony ! Some road noise, but not enough to be a problem, and withgin easy walking range of the resort.
