Antonis is a simple and basic hotel providing accommodation very close to all the amenities in Kefelos.
The accommodation consists of a two storey block with 13 rooms, 5 on the ground floor and 8 on the first floor. Built in an L shape the accommodation overlooks the hotel pool area.
There are two pools, an adult pool measuring about 20 yards by 10 yards and a small childrens' paddling pool. Loads of sun beds and umbrellas are available free of charge around the pool.
Also in the pool area is a snack bar with a large canvas roof covering the dining area where breakfast is served.
The rooms are very simply furnished with plenty of storage space. You get a wardrobe, two bedside cabinets with drawers and a dressing table with a mirror, a small coffee table and one wooden chair. All rooms have a large fridge stocked with beers, wines and soft drinks which are very reasonably priced.  Peter, the owner, keeps a tally of your daily consumption and you pay him at the end of the holiday.
Every room has a fair sized balcony with a table and two chairs. From our balcony we had a good sea view and as it was south facing we got the sun throughout the day.
The toilet and shower room was very small and like most Greek showers there was no shower curtain. The shower room also had an enormous sink. Water in the hotel was heated via roof top solar panels which meant that there was no hot water in the morning and the water only really became hot enough to shower in at around 2 pm, and was all used by around 4.30 pm. Getting a wash in cold water in the morning really did awake you up though.
Air conditioning was available in the room at an extra charge of 30 Euros a week. We didn't need it though as in late October the nights were fairly cool. There is no ceiling fan so I think that in the height of summer air conditioning would be an absolute must.
Although the rooms were basic and simply furnished they were kept very clean as was the whole hotel. Towels were changed every day and sheets changed every other day.
We went on a bed and breakfast basis and this was a continental type breakfast served between 8.30 and 10.30 every day. The breakfast comprised two rounds of toast with butter and jam, a boiled egg, a large mug of tea or coffee and a tall glass of fresh orange juice. Although a bit monotonous the breakfast was fine especially the tea which was the best brew I've had abroad. It was hot and strong and came in a big mug.
English breakfast was available in the morning for 5 Euros. This came with two fried eggs, English sausage, English bacon, beans and toast. It was really tasty especially the bacon which was proper, thick cut English unsmoked back and not the usual horrible streaky smoked stuff you usually get abroad.
The hotel is ideally sited with the beach and sea front only about 200 yards away. There are loads of tavernas along the sea front all offering a wide range of meals at very good prices. A typical meal with a starter, Greek salad, main course and a litre of house wine cost the two of us about 25 Euros (£18). We tried a different taverna every night and none was more than a 5 minute gentle stroll from the hotel.
Immediately over the road from the hotel was a small supermarket. A bus stop was right outside the hotel where you could catch a bus to Kos town (about 25 miles away) for the one-way fare of 3 Euros.
Peter the owner of Antonis was very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to help guests.

Really enjoyed our fortnight at the Antonis

It was kept spotlessly clean with regular changes of bedding and towels.

Peter was such a nice bloke and seemed to do everything for meeting and greeting to barman, maintenance man, pool cleaner etc. nothing was too much trouble for him or his mother and 1 helper.  We asked for a particular drink at the bar one night (red vodka) he did not have any but had some the following evening.  His idea of a measure hardly leaves room for the mixer.

Each room had a well stocked fridge at very reasonable prices.  Beer 2euros, Large water 2 euros, Carton of fruit juice 2 euros, Fanta, coke, sprite etc 1.5 euros that you paid at the end of the holiday.

The hotel is right in the heart of the resort.  Supermarket and cash point nearby.

We hoped to get out and about more than we did this was due to the heat wave Greece was having last week with temp. Of 40C and above.

As for food the choice of places was huge.  It was difficult to choose as we never had anything but a good meal we used Sebastian's, Galleni, Marias, Stop in, Stamatia, Captain John all excellent and all with huge potions and very reasonable a starter (don't get one each or you will never get to the main course) 2 main, bread, water a beer and drinks for round about 10 – 13 euros each. Can't speak of the sweet courses because we could never have eaten one.  The only place no one seemed to recommend was the Chinese / Indian close to the Antonis.

One word of warning was that Libra had booked people into the rooms that had not been completed for the summer and they were being transferred to other rooms in the resort.

Here for a fortnight end of last July. Only thing wrong was the bed linen only got changed 3 times in 2 weeks. Staff very friendly-Peter the owner was so laid back I thought he would fall backwards!!. Breakfast everyday was a boiled egg and toast with jam and butter, tea or coffee. Snacks were great and plentiful and bar well stocked. Pool was also great tho' very cold to get into at first. Rooms were basic but cleaned every day. Each had a fridge which was already stocked with water, soft drinks, beer and wine-you just took what you wanted and paid Peter at the end of you holiday. Right next door was the bureau de change and they are very helpful and friendly. You could also book any excurssions here.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back to the Antonis Hotel in the future.

Just had a thought do the rooms by any chance have fridges? We usually go self catering but the pool on site was the big attraction for staying at the ANtonis Hotel

We are going to Kos for the first time in September. Have been to Zante several times and have found the web site www.zante.co.uk very useful. Can anybody tell me if there are ATMs on Kos especially in Kefalos. If not how easy is it to change travellers cheques?

Looking forward to the trip as all friends that have been before have really liked the island

I went 15th-22nd September 2004 and had a great time. Very clean, lots of sunbeds and sunshine. As in most Greek places no shower curtain and the floor does get wet so best to take a spare towel. The breakfast is fairly good, and the snacks were plentiful and good value for money. I liked the location, a short walk to the sea, but not too near the noise of the traffic. Highly recommended. If I go back I would be happy to stay there again.

Hey, we are going on the 29th September. Will the weather be good then?

Lovely little hotel, very clean, basic & each room has a decent sized balcony. The pool was fab, this hotel was one of the very few in Kefalos with a pool. Lovely guy behind the pool bar, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast consisted of a "boiley egg", toast with jam, coffee/tea and juice. It was basic but u can get a full English there for about 4 euros. The salads are huge, be warned!!Great location for the really long beach, beds are spaced out not sardined together. 5 mins walk to the restaurants & bars on the harbour. If I went back to Kefalos I'd definitely go back to this hotel.

Average room stayed with friends both in late 40's resort a bit jaded needed a bit of glamour, moved to rhodes after day 2 that was the best bit got internal flight 88 euros return. Rhodes has it all character greekness (which kos is lacking in) friendly people lots to see and do.

We stayed at Antonis the last week of May 2004, and it was a good place to stay. It appeared to be the most central hotel in the village, between the harbour, the beach and the old village. The breakfast was ok, a bit monotonous, but it was good to have a cup of tea as soon as you get up, even if it was a bit weak!!!

The pool is lovely, very clean, but freezing when we were there.
The rooms are basic, as you'd expect in Greece, but quite adequate.

All the tavernas were ok, none stood out above any other, but we didn't have a bad meal in the whole week.

If you're going to Kefalos, as long as you like it on the quieter side, then you'll LOVE it!!!
