By far the best place to eat in Tingaki!! I've been here on 3 different trips to Tingaki and have never had a dodgy meal. I highly reccomend the Lamb Youvetsi, pizza, souvlaki.... in fact anything on the menu!!! The staff are lovely, Donna and Manolis are so nice - they always take time to have a chat with everyone and nothing is too much trouble. The cocktails can be a little potent - just order a glass of lemonade to mix them with

As a family of six we ate here on one occassion the food was fantastic and the decor throughout was out of this world.  Manolis and his wife are lovely people.  They also have apartments for rent see my other review.

Once you eat here, you wont want to try anywhere else, we ate here on our firstnight in tingaki, and eight other times in our 14 day stay on Kos. It is simple, the food is great, no matter what you choose. You must try the pizza, and the klefiko and stifado, you see?  Then there is Donnas home made apple pie and cherry cheese cake mmm!, but most of all it is the hospitality you get in the restuarant, that was what made it for us.(and the cocktails)

Thanks Manos and Donna

This is without doubt the best place to eat in Tingaki. The food is superb and plentiful and the service is exceptional and done with a tremendous sense of humour.

We ate here 5 nights during the holiday and were never disappointed. The meals ranged from Stifado and Kleftiko through pizza, spaghetti dishes (the carbonara was to die for) to Chicken Korma with all the usual trimmings. We simply cannot speak highly enough of it.

Whilst for some it demands an extra walk of 200 yards beyond the main group of restaurants on the main road, that is a distance well worth making.

We were also staying above the restaurant in one of the two bedroomed apartments lovingly created and cared for by Donna and Manos. The welcome at 4am by Donna was amazing with a bottle of wine, milk, tea, coffee, bread and water all waiting for us. The apartments themselves are clean and spacious with every amenity you need for a fantastic holiday on this beautiful island.

This was our 17th Greek holiday in 30 years, but our first in Kos. Put simply, these are the best apartments we have ever stayed in in Greece, setting a standard that would be very hard to match.

Excellent! ate here 4 times, food & service excellent. Thanks to Manos for looking after us & to all the other staff. If you only have one meal out I would recommend Saggitarius

Very good restaurant, well worth a visit.  Beautiful setting with the fountains etc., and the service is second to none.  Very child friendly.  Food always good whenever we ate there.  Desserts are to die for.  Well done !!!

As a family have eaten here over the last fortnight around 5 times, the service was excellent and the food was reasonably priced, as vegetarians there was quite an extensive menu, which was all well prepared and enjoyable. It always appeared generally busy but we never felt rushed. Would reccomend Dolamades (Stuffed vine leaves as a starter washed down with Mythos.

Manos always made time for everyone in the restaurant as did the other waiter (sorry can't remember  his name)

Donna,

Thank you for your reply, you have definatley put my mind at rest.

Hi Irenka

Well, feta cheese which is served in restaurants is most defiinitely pasteurized.  The exception would be if someone offered you some home-made goats cheese (maybe if you were trying to be friendly to any of the old folk living nearby).  Don't worry about this type of cheese, but of course, I expect you know not to eat any type of blue cheese or cream cheese while pregnant.
I'm sure you will have a great holiday.

Irenka W

Hi donna

Thank you for your comment i will surely be paying your restaurant a visit in the next week and a bit, can i just ask you a quick question i know it may seem strange, but do you know if the feta cheese in greece is pasteurized? as i am pregnant and i have been told in the pregancey books not to eat cheese that has not been pasteurized as this may have listeria and this may harm the baby. I have been trying to surch this on the internet and some says yes and some say no can you please help.

Many thanks

The Saggitarius

Paul & Sue Holyoake

For our 4th visit to KOS, Donna had arranged cabs (guide price up to 25-30 Euros) to pick us all up at Kos Airport. Just like last year we were away very quickly and arrived at the Saggitarius Apartments at about 3 in the morning where Donna was waiting to welcome us all – Hi! Steve and family.

When we got to the first floor studio Sue and I had booked for the second year in a row, it was almost as if we hadn't been away (see our previous review from last year). The fruit was in the bowl, the bottle of wine was in the fridge and all those little things essential for a quick cup of tea on arrival, were sitting on the side – what a great start to our holiday.

If you're staying at the Saggitarius you don't necessarily feel obliged to eat at Donna and Manolis's Restaurant although I would certainly recommend it. We ate there several times and the food was always excellent. Manolis and Anthony rush around like mad things to get you settled in and served. The service was always excellent. I'd heard or read that Donna has a reputation for serving authentic Indian food – it's true! She makes a beautiful spicy Chicken Tikka Marsala complete with Nan bread as Sue and I found out for our first meal. But we didn't come to Greece to eat Indian. Sue's and my favourite starter turned out to be the Sagittarius home-made Cream of Chicken Soup (not really Greek but rich and creamy with sizeable pieces of chicken) and set us up nicely for which is probably our personal favourite "Chicken or Pork Souvilaki". I think we had a choice of salad and fries or vegetables and rice to accompany it. These seem to be quite popular with grilled food. The portions, as with most of the restaurants in Tigaki, were quite large – we always felt full when finishing our meal and usually ended with coffee. Myself I liked the Greek coffee, medium sweet and served with a glass of iced water and of course there is often a drink 'on-the-house'.

Sue and I would just like to say a big 'Thank You' to Donna and Manolis and all the staff at the Sagittarius for being great hosts – they certainly know how to look after their guests and make them feel at home.

All being well Sue and I will return in May/June 2009 for another stay – we can't wait!

Hi Irenka

I can only comment in terms of how my own restaurant normally operates.  We try to make sure all our customers enjoy their evening in the way they want.  We are large enough to not need to hurry customers along to change with new people and this way your evening is your own.  I remember once or twice some customers have decided to order a starter and have said at the time of ordering to allow up to half an hour in between courses.  This is of course unusual, but we try to serve all our meals with the appropriate amount of time between courses.

I'm sure you will have a good holiday and I hope to see you in the Sagittarius sometime during your stay.

Would anybody please be able to tell me what are the meals are like in Tingaki, are they rushed? I have been to a few greek resorts and i find that some of them we felt a bit rush with our meal as they try to get as many people in and out as possible. We like to make a night out of our meal and take our time, but in Zante although the food was fantastic it was a bit rushed as soon as we ordered our food the starter was out within 2mins and when that was taken away our main came out right away not giving us enought time to relax, but when we went to Crete it took a good three hours for us to have a starter main and sometime a sweet, and we took our time and relaxed over some wine. So could anyone tell me what i can expect in Tingaki. Im pregnant this year so im not drinking so our evening meal is quite an imprortant part of our evening.

This is the best place to eat in Tigaki.  We stay here alot also as they have some lovely appartments above the taverna.  The owners, Manolis & Donna are fantastic people who can not do enough for you.  The food is excellent with alot of choice.  They do the best english breakfast in my opinion.  The pizzas, curries, greek specials - everything is delicious.  Don't believe the people who said it is bad - they must not have been here!!  I definately recommend it highly.

Wow what an amazing restaurant!!! We went to cos i May and the guys and Sagitarius were the best. Always entertaining and happy. Went there 3 times in the week! breakfast was the best we had in Kos but was still good. But the Evening meals were gorgeous. If you only go to one restaurant in Tigaki then this is the one to go to!!!

 Excellent!!!

This restaurant is fantastic! It looks very posh! so you may think it is more expensive than others?  well check out the menu or their webb site. The prices are very comparable with many others in the resort and the service is fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble , the food is excellent quality and Donna, one of the owner's was right she does have the best choice for vegetarians in Tingaki! We went a few times and were never disapointed her apartments look good too wish I'd known about them when booking my hols as they are much better equipped than many in the area and beautiful too. Well Done Donna fantastic place check them out if you can

This is a lovely restaurant owned by a Greek & English couple who could not been more helpful or friendly.  Excellent range of choice - English, Greek and curries.  Although it is at the top of the road from the roundabout do not miss out on this restaurant.

We also viewed their apartments - tiling done by the greek owner/head waiter, etc!- and amazed at the quality of the accommodation, range of facilities, including laundry room and the prices for studios and apartments.

This restaurant must be on your list when you visit Tingaki.

we stayed in the marianna studios next door to this restaurant, we ate here most nights. The food was excellent, with a large choice of dishes even curries. Like most people on holiday we ate at different places but eventually all decided to stick with the saggitarius. The staff were friendly and polite, tha children were even given drawings and crayons to keep them amused whilst waiting for their meal.
We paid for 4 main meals and drinks roughly 35 euros which was very reasonble, the helpings were huge!! Highly recommended.

A lovely (posh looking) restaurant.  Was a little wary at first because of it's appearance, we thought it would be more expensive, but we were wrong!!!  All the meals in Tingaki are roughly the same in price no matter where you go.  I had the Chef Special salad and it was HUGE as was the chicken fillet in breadcrumbs my daughter had.  Lots and lots to choose.  Try it, you will like it.

Matt J          10/10

click to enlarge click to enlargeThe first time we ate here we spent 15 Euros (approx £10.50) on a meal for 2.  We did not have starters - just 2 main courses (Spicy Meatballs with Spaghetti and a Greek Salad) and 2 cocktails.  We also recieved free shots after our meal.  The food was fantastic.

Since then, we must have visited Sagitarius at least 4/5 more times for meals or take-aways.  Just about everything on thier menu can be taken out (except Soup!) and the food was always excellent.  We tried baked potatoes, pizzas, pasta dishes, etc and all of it was extremely cheap and tasted fantastic.

I would reccomend this restaurant to anybody in Tingaki.  The staff are fantastic.

We ate here a few times 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed returning in 3 weeks and will be back

We loved this restaurant - a littel further out of town than our hotel, but that was ideal for us.  Great food, service, choice and atmosphere.  We especially liked their peppers stuffed with cheese (starter) and their kleftiko is good also as was the swordfish.

Well done to them!

The Saggitarius Restaurant in Tingaki was one of the high points of our holiday

Great food great service and great value !!
The restaurant is a little off the main resort center but most nights very full which in my book says a lot about a place. We ate there every night bar one and would go back again
