Just back from Tingaki Kos 27/6/09 and we have been to Ikarus Restaurant a few times. The Lady that has done the cooking for the last 15 years has now bought it and the food is still excellent!!!! The Family are lovely people (the Son and Daughter wait on the tables) and always have a friendly word for everyone there. If anything it seems better than before and in all honesty, I dont think there is another restaurant in Tingaki to beat it!!!
The previous owner moved to a bakery up in the Town, but has now bought the Greek style restaurant on the main street with the blue chairs and blue checked tablecloths. We did try it one night and the food was good, however, everyone seemed to be rushing around as it was full and the 'laid back' Greek atmosphere vanished!!Just back from Tingaki (18th June ) and we found that Ikarus has changed hands, the owner has moved to a cafeteria in Zipari, the first village on the road from Tingaki to Kos. The new owners say that the kitchen staff are still the same tho..... this i couldn't tell if true or not.......such a shame !!!
Just back from another 2 great weeks in Tingaki and more great meals at Ikarus. Try the Ikarus Special - Pork medallions in home made sauce with greek potatoes, brocolli, carrots & rice - GREAT. Also try 'King Brocs' (king prawns) in White Wine & Garlic Sauce & Beef Fillet with Blue Cheese Sauce. All meals we had there were SUPERB. They also have a small play area for kids - sandy area not grass - enclosed so they play safely. Will definitely be back !!!
Brilliant !!!! We called in every day for a pint of ice cold lager, served in a frosted glass...... heaven- after all day on the beach!! Try the Bolognese pizza.... freshly cooked mmmm!!
Probably the find of the fortnight. The food was superb and if anyone selects the fish dish for two, then unless you are someone with a huge appetite, don't attempt the starter as well. The staff are so friendly, the prices as good as anywhere else in Kos and the tranquility in the evenings was a welcome change to the busy main street
Fantastic place - in fact the best we had the whole of the holiday - excellent facilities for both couples (if you want romance) and families (play area to entertain kids while waiting for meal). Food was the best we had Steak with Curry Sauce, Soulvakie Mix, Cheese and Ham Crepe and Homemade Shepherds Pie - Fresh Hot Bread was given before the meals came - meals are worth waiting that little bit extra for - large potions and top quality food. This along with 2 Mythos and 2 Lemon Juices came to roughly 28 to 30 euros (you would pay a lot more back in England for this). Service and staff are friendly and happy to help with anything. - you can see in the kitchen which is always kept clean and tidy.
we love ikarus!!!!! food was to die for!! prices were excellent!! well varied menu! we went there all the time during the summer, even popped in before work to fill our lil tums!!! big hi to themos and the girls in the kitchen...will see you in may!! cant wait...ill have the usual!! haha xxxxx
Found this restaurant after reading comments on this site. Only 5 mins walk from roundabout past Taka Taka Mam, lovely setting, typical greek taverna. Food was good, service great, worth a visit.
the ikarus we found by accident because we fancied a walk further than the roundabout at the bottom of the main street in tingaki past the taka taka mam, this resturant though its a bit of a walk, the meals are out of this world. for a steak its costs around 7.50 euros with chips and salad and veg. the service although you have to wait about 20 mins you know its freshley cooked and its worth the wait.the banana splits are fantastic and also big enough to take a doggy bag back so you can eat it later. all round an excellent resturant an excellent walk and you can even walk off your meal at the end of it so that means you dont even put on weight after youv'e stuffed yourself. go to this resturant, what you waiting for???
