Tingaki Resort - (Resorts on Kos)

Donna H

Just to clarify about taking a holiday in October - the resort of Tingaki basically closes down on 30/31 October.  Prior to that though there may be a number of restaurants which start winding down from about halfway through the month.  This should not put you off because within the area of Tingaki there are at least 50 restaurants/tavernas/snack bars to choose from.  The bars probably won't be as lively and may not stay open until 5 am but you will still have a good timeSmile

Agrotica Apartments - (Accommodation in Tingaki)

In answer to the previous question about the location of Agrotica Apartments - they are approx 25 mins walk to the nearest beach. They are at the upper end of Tingaki a little off the beaten track but not totally isolated. The nearest hotel with any activities/TVs etc is the Hotel Ilios. The nearest restaurant is the Sagittarius Restaurant. The most accurate description of the map location is looking at the main Tingaki road where you turn off to go to Marmari. Take this road for about 1 mile and you get to the Agrotica Apartments.

If you are arriving at 4.30 am I think you will find Piggeez open.  It is situated on the main Tingaki road to the left as you walk towards the beach.  I've heard they are open 24 hrs from June onwards so you should be able to get at least something to drink.

To the last two queries.  First there are 2 ATMs in Tingaki, both near to the "sqaure" - actually a roundabout near the beach.

Secondly, the cost of a taxi from the airport to Tingaki is about 20/22 euros.

I'm sure you will have a lovely holiday with your children.  One thing you can do is go to the Lido waterpark in Mastichari.  They run a free bus service from Tingaki square at about 11.15 am and return just after about 4pm.  Alternatively you can book with Louise at Theokritos Travel who also runs a very cheap bus trip to the park.

The Marianna studios are quite basic but have the essentials that you would need bearing in mind that most people eat out most days of the their holiday as it's not very expensive.  You won't however find a toaster in the apartment nor air conditioning.  In August though, some days get quite breezy and you may not feel the need for a/c anyway.  The Marianna has its own pool but you are free to use any pool of any hotel in the resort as long as you purchase something from their pool bar (which is quite understandable).

My own restaurant is right next door to the Marianna apartments - Sagittarius Restaurant - and we have a very varied menu and a kid's menu.  Of course, there are many other eateries in Tingaki so you will be quite spoiled for choice.

Other acitivties in the area include horse riding in Marmari and go carts on the road to Marmari (about 15/20 minutes walk from Tingaki).

Tingaki beach itself is lovely - sandy with a huge choice of sunbeds and umbrellas for hire.

I hope you have a lovely holiday.

In answer to Jason Lee's question about baby food.  Constantinos Supermarket definitely has a small selection of baby food in jars, I'm not sure about the smaller shops.  They also have a good range of disposable nappies and wipes etc.

I'm sure you won't have any trouble managing.
Have a lovely holiday.

Hi, It's not actually necessary to into Kos Town to get a bus to Kardamena if you stay in Tingaki.  First get the bus from Tingaki going towards Kos.  Get off the bus at Zipari (5 mins away from Tingaki).  Then cross the road and wait for the bus from Kos going to Kardamena.  If there is a long wait in between buses, Zipari is a very lively community with bars, cafeterias, tavernas and one or two boutiques, so you could browse these while waiting for your bus.

Hi Irenka

I can only comment in terms of how my own restaurant normally operates.  We try to make sure all our customers enjoy their evening in the way they want.  We are large enough to not need to hurry customers along to change with new people and this way your evening is your own.  I remember once or twice some customers have decided to order a starter and have said at the time of ordering to allow up to half an hour in between courses.  This is of course unusual, but we try to serve all our meals with the appropriate amount of time between courses.

I'm sure you will have a good holiday and I hope to see you in the Sagittarius sometime during your stay.

Hi Irenka

Well, feta cheese which is served in restaurants is most defiinitely pasteurized.  The exception would be if someone offered you some home-made goats cheese (maybe if you were trying to be friendly to any of the old folk living nearby).  Don't worry about this type of cheese, but of course, I expect you know not to eat any type of blue cheese or cream cheese while pregnant.
I'm sure you will have a great holiday.
