Meni Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tingaki)

Bill H          10/10

Excellent service and style.  We didn't get in the first time we tried, they were so busy, but it was worth the effort the second time.  I had lamb in a tomato sauce which was wonderful.

Do not miss out on the restaurant.

I am baffled as to why this restaurant was rated as 6/10 - well done for changing it to 9/10!

Spyros Taverna - (Restaurants in Tingaki)

Bill H          10/10

We visited this restaurant several times and found the service and food to be excellent.  It was always busy in the evening.  The kleftico and stifado were excellent.

I would recommend Spyros to all visitors to Tingaki.

Sagittarius Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tingaki)

Bill H          10/10

This is a lovely restaurant owned by a Greek & English couple who could not been more helpful or friendly.  Excellent range of choice - English, Greek and curries.  Although it is at the top of the road from the roundabout do not miss out on this restaurant.

We also viewed their apartments - tiling done by the greek owner/head waiter, etc!- and amazed at the quality of the accommodation, range of facilities, including laundry room and the prices for studios and apartments.

This restaurant must be on your list when you visit Tingaki.

Therme (hot springs) - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Bill H          9/10

Just back from Kos.  The thermal springs are worth a visit, but remember that the water can tarnish your jewellery.  We walked down from the road side which for anyone with walking difficulties would be problematic.  Several people also drove their cars and scooters to a short distance from the springs.  We also saw some people cycling but there are several hills to overcome!

The springs are alot warmer than the sea but pleasantly relaxing.  We arrived at 10.30ish by hire car and managed to beat all the tour buses.  There are plenty of cafes at the road side and beside the springs.  The journey to the springs is very scenic with excellent places to take pictures of the nearby islands and coastline.

Zia Sunset - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Bill H          8/10

Zia is a lovely village and the sunset is ...... well like most places that have sunsets!  We ate twice in Zia.  The first rooftop restaurant on the right as you enter the village is the one I would recommend - don't try the one opposite - slow service and disappointing food.

For me the best views are the surrounding mountains which I thought were breathtaking.

The shops are OK though I didn't spot too much stuff that you couldn't buy in the other towns and villages.

Rodini - (Restaurants in Tingaki)

Bill H          10/10

We ate at Rodini several times and would recommend it to all.  It is a family run affair and offers good quality meals at reasonable prices.  Service was efficient and friendly - you receive the drink on the house which can include ice cream!

Trip to Nysiros Volcano - (Kos Excursions)

Bill H          10/10

If you go to Kos you must go to Nisyros.  It involves a short ferry trip from Kardamena, bus journey from the port of Mandraki and approx 45 mins exploring the main crater.  It is dormant, however, don't be put off by this.  There are gurgling noises from below the surface, yellow sulphur patches all over the site, localised hot spots with gas and vapour coming out of the earth.  The views going to and from the crater are breathtaking so remember your camera.  All in all an experience I am very pleased to have encountered.

There is also a monastery and a fort worth visiting, which give great views of the island and Kos.  You will also have time to explore Mandraki where there are lots of cafes and shops.

One important thing to remember - I was advised by Theokritis Travel to wear "good shoes".  Flip flops are not recommended!

I arrived back in Tingaki by 5pm which was ample time to prepare for the evening activities.
