Restaurants in Kefalos

Been back from Kefalos a week now.  Visited Maria's quite a few nights for meals.  Loved it.  The food was excellent - try their beef stifado - it is to die for!  The guys who worked in there were lovely too!  Really nice atmosphere - definitely worth visiting!

We were back In Kefalos again from 15 to 22 October 2009.
We were met like old friends in Marias
by George and his sons Louis, Tony & Dennis.
Once again the meals were fantastic value for money and well cooked.  A meal for two with a Greek salad and two large draught beers was under €20.
This year I particularly enjoyed the Cod & Chips.  Two huge pieces of fillet cod with loads of proper home made chips.  Just fantastic.
The bread that Maria makes herself is also very, very tasty.
Looking forward to our next trip to Kefalos, probably in May next year, and we will definitely be heading straight to Marias for our meals.

My wife and I have been visiting Kefalos for about the last 6 years and we have tried most of the restaurants along the beach road.  We both agree that Maria's is the best we have been to not only in terms of the quality and qantity of food but also because of the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendliness and hospitality of George.  We were last in Kefalos in June this year and we ate at Maria's every night and were never once disappointed with our meals.
We are heading back to Kefolas on 16 October, staying at the Artemis, and we can't wait to get back to Maria's.

Lovelly friendly staff, really good greek food.  The best stifado in Kefalos!HUGE portions followed by complimentary water melon , coffee and local liqueur.

Just back from Kos, stayed in Kefalos. This restaurant is named after Maria who runs the kitchen. The whole family are very very friendly, the food particularly the greek dishes... kleftiko, souvlaki, pastistio etc are excellent. If you're a big eater you wont be disappointed. Euro for Euro you're unlikely to get better value.  David.

Papa I

The only time I had a chip who's mother had been a potato.

Food terrible.

Heather W

Still excellant value for money and good service. Try the sole.

First time we went the food was lovely but have to admit the second time we went there it was awful and we never went back after that. The little extras were a nice touch free tea or coffee (ice cream for kids), water melon and a small shot of cherry brandy.

We loved it, food was great. service was great. staff were were lovely. We had my 5 yr old grandson with us and the staff were playing about & joking with him. After the meal, children are invited to have an ice cream on the house and adults a coffee. We went back and ate there our last night too.

VERY GOOD AND FRIENDLY. WE HAD TZATZIKI TO START, WHICH WAS NOT VERY STRONG TASTING OF GARLIC BUT STILL VERY GOOD, MY HUSBAND HAD MIXED MEAT PLATE WHICH WAS VERY PLENTIFUL AND GOOD FOOD. I HAD CHICKEN SOUVLAKI WHICH AGAIN WAS GOOD. WOULD GO BACK WITHOUT HESITATION.

We returned to Marias again this year after an exellent last meal in September 2003,Georges the owner Greeted us as old friends and gave us a free welcome drink. There was plenty of food as usual which was well cooked and presented. We could not fault the meal and if you do just complain dont come away and moan!. I was given dry white wine by mistake but George replaced it free of charge, and told Tony, his son, off. Price wise our meals cost about 18 euro the same thing in Stamatia was 24-26

Annette M

Try the pastitsio its gorgeous.Have eaten there on many an occasion, very friendly atmosphere, extremeley clean. Have tried most of the dishes, no complaints on any.Looking forward to eating there again this year.

We really hated it. Usual friendly welcome though. The starter soup seemed like it came straight out of a tin! The presentation of the food was pretty naff. All crammed on two small plates. As a restaurant which was highly recommended by a fellow guest, we were certainly far from impressed. We also regretted going there on our last night. Still had a heartburn two days after returning to London!
Please try Stamatia and Stop Inn which are in close vicinity. They are much cheaper and serve much tastier meals with a much friendler service!

Marias is brightly lit, but excellent value for money. We were served by teenage lads and expected the service to reflect teen attitudes. We were very wrong. The service and food were excellent, and they also made time to keep the kids (4 & 8) happy. This would be my first stop for a meal if we went back!!!

Tried this resteraunt for the first time last summer, after it was recomended to us by one of the local supermarket owners, superb food and service and well worth another visit.

Jacki H

Not been to Marias in the summer season, but this year we had the pleasure of going to Kos in January and Marias was one of the only tavernas open and the food was lovely, we will definately be trying this in June. Heather is right it is bright but I would recommend giving it a try.

Heather W

Marias is on the harbour front road and the food is greek and very good, also plenty of it. Try the sole - its lovely! Service is excellant with a brandy or such as a little thankyou afterwards, brightly lit - which can put some people off , but would def. recommend.
