Kefalos, Kos well what can I say, Kefalos holds a special place in our hearts, we have been 14 times now and the latest was in January when we got invited out for a wedding..what a nice and Kefalos in January was fantastic with no tourist.... Our favorite bar is the Melody bar (fantastic family) and our restaurants are Kampos and the newly opened Paradise Gourmet.
Someone asked where Vasilis Apartments can be found, have you tried looking at Olympic Holidays as these are usually with them.

We have now been most times of the year (including January) but I think September is the best, weather usually glorious although this year was a bit dodgy (but I think it was dodgy all over the world)

Kefalos Studios, well located in a quiet area, no traffic noise. studios in Kefalos are mostly all the same (with a few exceptions). The owners here are very nice people. Rooms cleans and quite spacious.

These are one of our favorite set of studios (and we have stayed in many). Well located, own swimming pool, snack bar, no noise and Dimitris the owner is top bloke.

Nice rooms, near to the beach, very clean and the owners are one of the best in Kefalos !

These studios are in a ideal spot of the back road, clean and spacious. The only problem which we found (and others might not think its a problem) is that the room is on 2 levels, up wrought iron stairs is the bed area (in like a mezzanine. It was very weird, and if you got up in the night the light would light the whole sudio. There is also more stairs going into the kitchen and bathroom area which I think are very dangerous...this was the only downside and as you aren't in your room very much it might not be a problem to other people. There are only 6 rooms here so nice and quiet and a short cut brings you out to the Melody bar..

We love this bar, it is a very laid back place to enjoy a cocktail or 2. Not for youngsters... Yiannis, Stamatis and Andonis are fabulous guys and they are our Greek family...they will always make you feel welcome and go out of their way to help you.

This is our favorit taverna in Kefalos, Andonis and his family always welcome you. The food is excellent and you get a free drink with our bill.

This is run by a lovely family and they will help you (even fax the DVLC). Prices are very reasonable and cars reliable.

This is a lovely part of Kefalos worth a visit especially when the sun is setting. Lovely fish taverna there.

Great place, but best out of season or late afternoon. Full of german tourist.

Apart from Kefalos Zia is my favorite place on Kos. It's worth going too, it's like stepping back in time. The sunset is nice, but just get the sunset trip where you go and have a few hours there...although I have heard that the Greek Night is very good.

Not been to Marias in the summer season, but this year we had the pleasure of going to Kos in January and Marias was one of the only tavernas open and the food was lovely, we will definately be trying this in June. Heather is right it is bright but I would recommend giving it a try.

This is a nice place to ear where you always get a friendly welcome.

These apartments are lovely, well located and use of a swimming pool on the door step...stop worrying and enjoy your holiday.

sorry just realised you asked about safes. you can hire a safe from Kefalos Tours for nothing...as this is where you can change your money up it's very handy...

Not sure if they have any in the apartments (wouldn't have thought so) but Kos is very safe. But you can get a deposit box at Kefalos tours for nothing...

Yeah they are a long walk from the resort but they do run a little green bus from the apartments to the resort, the views are fabulous. Not stayed here but have read other reports.

POpis are situated just down the harbour road and right a bit. They have their own pool and bar (shared with Evengelia and Stratis) Popi is a lovely lady who enjoys a laugh...great place to stay.

These are one of my fav apartments (and I have stayed in a few) they are located off the harbour road in a quiet spot but near to everything, use of a pool (which is just out the back door) great place to stay the family are lovely and bring you fresh veg from the garden.

Vasilis Apartments
Re your query about Vasilis Apartments these are with Olympic holidays, they don't always have them in the brochures as they might be over spills, but my friends have stayed there 2 years running now and they managed to book them.

SNAKES
Do not worry about snakes after 15 visits to Kefalos we have never seen one...

Taxis
There are always plenty of taxis at the airport, as you walk out the double doors just across the crossing is the taxi rank, if there is not one there they will call for one...it should cost about £10 - £20 not sure as we always get a taxi from a friend...it only takes about 15 minutes.

They have now moved across the road as Dimitris (the brother) is opening a bar where the car hire office was !! Still a good place even if the colour of the bar is not !!!

We love this place. We always go back once a year. The views and sunset is lovely. Try the home made cheese ....

If you were to come from Capt John's onto the main Kefalos road (not the Harbour Road) you cross the main road and up the road ahead (next to a supermarket on the corner) Mayflower are just up there about 5 mins walk. These are actually owned by the same people that own Captain Johns.

Definately don't book your excursion through the tour company, they are so much more expensive.
Try Excursion Discount Centre on the main road opposite the Melody bar.

There is a cash till in the resort but its not always working so best to take all your money with you if you can.

Can't believe after 20 visits we never bothered with this....WOW !!!

If you where in the Aussie BBQ then instead of walking into the main road...pretend you walked out the other way..that is the back road.

I would say about 5 mins walk to Aussie BBQ, again if you were standing in front of the aussie BBQ thenthey would be to your left
