My wife and i stayed here in June this year in block A. It was bloody awful, we had a room on the top floor and as you went downstairs, you could watch the cockroaches going up. We reckon its an eighties building and the cupboards etc reflect that. A word of warning, the toilet sink and shower are set in a long narrow room. When you open the door it bangs on the sink, so you have to enter the gap and then close the door. The toilet faces the narrow part and is just about ten inches away from the facing wall. You have to get on it as if you are riding a horse. Now we are both 55 and don't like riding horses, so if your not that agile or are infirm in any way avoid this block like the plague. Swimming pool is ok but the snack bar is expensive, a beer costing 3 euro's. More moaning, it is an awful long way to the best part of Kefalos, at least a 30 min walk as the bars and taverna's near the Chrysoula are indifferent at best. We tried a few places from the suggestions here, but by the gods they were not good at all. Best beer, go to Maria's Bar on the harbour road, a really good beer there called VAP. Its brewed in Athens and is very very moorish and is only 1.50 euro. Best places for eating, Maria's, really good and the Stop Inn. There i had the best liver and onions i've ever had. Do try and look hard for accomodation down the harbour end if you can, we honestly would not want you to be disappointed by staying here.
News Flash........... Manos and Yianni have got a new beer named Vap. Its brewed in Athens and is truely superb, in fact, as many said in the bar, if it was for sale back in England, we'd buy it there. Get yourselves there and try it. I thought i'd have a little taster one afternoon, just the one you understand, but ended up having four, even my wife loved it, she had two........lovely.
Tried a breakfast there once, truely awful, don't risk it, better food elsewhere.
Absolutely brilliant, everything here is just so good. Please try the liver and onions, it is so, so tasty
Prepare to give your taste buds an orgasm
Good place this, try the fish and chips, or sole and chips...... excellent.
You get a good breakfast here, and an amazing mug of coffee. Guy behind the ramp has a special coffee machine/ maker that does everything and costs 11,000 euros, so he said. Nice overlooking the sea having a munch.
My wife and i have been comming here for eight years now. Very comfortable and excellent service. When Georges son Yianni found out we staying at the awful Chrysoula studios a good mile and a half away, he took us home every night in his car.
Ate here too, and it was pretty good food. Michaelos is a very entertaing guy, when a customer asked for a drink in greek, he shouted to his waiter, "Yianni, be careful what you say, they speak greek over here"
