We stayed in Kefalos this summer and as my partner had been before, she recommended Captain Johns, and she wasnt wrong ! We ate there most days during out two week stay and the food was exeptional and Chrysoula ( sorry if i have spelt that wrong) was a terrific host. The Souvlaki was to die for and the fish dishes were excellent. We have already booked for next year, roll on June !
As always the crew were fantastic the food very good and we always recomend this taverna
We stayed in kefalos last year and ate at Captain Johns frequently.I particularly enjoyed the Plaice stuffed with crab. The owners are so nice and friendly and all the food is home made and delicious. We also enjoyed our drink leaving the beach watching the sun go down most evenings. We have booked for May this year annd can't wait to get back there. See you soon Joyce and Steve Matthews.
was as always top notch and full of people nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and yaya doing her lacework love to all the family from Lucy and terry
As usual great food good people and great hosts
Having read the earlier comment about Kleftiko we decided to give it a go. I couldn't agee more, it was absolutely fabulous.
Have just returned from Kefalos. Discovered Captain Johns on our second night...luckily! The food is great. Some of the starters we tried were the stuffed red pepper (amazing), humus & pitta bread, and the pumpkin croquettes. Main meals included the fresh fried fish, several pasta dishes, pizza, and the chicken stuffed with feta cheese and bacon. The deserts are just something else, try the traditional Greek deserts & the pancakes with yoghurt and honey.Value for money. One word of warning though which will probably apply to all the establishments along the sea front ........ beware the guy selling dodgey pirate DVDS!!!
The best kleftiko I have ever had - and I have had a fair few in my time ! Great restaurant with great views.
Just try it! You won't be disappointed.
Only one thing to say, bloody excellent!
As always chrisoula and the crew were just as good as ever must say they treated us as long lost friends when we turned up first night if any one goes to Captain John say to Chrisoulla yassue from Nickolas .
nice location with good views. Food very good so was the service. worth a visit. House Kokino (Red) wine very pleasant.
hi there bein to greece for a few years and will be visitng again this summer and cant wait for it there is a few good restaurants to visit and captain johns is 1 of the them with a great view on to the sea and other is aussie bbq, where the food is great u should try them out!
We have returned for a couple of years now and will be back on Sunday. Even if it rains I just want to sit in or outside Capt John's, drink a little wine and read a book and sit and stare. I think I liked the Greek Salad best by the end of the week as I was a bit full by then. Lovely place, gentle people, don't care how long they take to bring me food. Can't wait...have my book ready.
clearly based on an authentic earlier teverna and trading heavily on it's 'oldest taverna in kefalos' legend. almost surprisingly, all dishes are pulled off well and fresh provender p**vades. slightly let down by inattentive service which finally lead to bringing the wrong dessert.
I went to Kefalos for the second time in June 2006 and have never been disappointed with this place. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. The staff are extremely helpful and really made us feel welcome.
great place to dine lovely friendly hosts say hello to chrissula ,Andonis and crew from Lefterris
Shrimps? (more like langoustine) to die for well cooked fresh with pleasant friendly service ate here 3 times so I think that says it all
Lovely food - great service but a little slow. Worth the wait though.
JUST COME BACK FROM KEFALOS WE WERE THERE FOR 1 WEEK ONLY - SADLY. WE ATE AT CAPTAIN JOHNS TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WE BOTH HAD TZATZIKI, WHICH WAS GREAT - VERY GARLICY AND HAD A PEPPERY KICK TO IT. I HAD A GREEK DISH WHICH WAS PASTA, BOLOG SAUCE, BECHEMEL AND CHEESE. IT WAS VERY TASTY, BUT TOO MUCH FOR ME TO EAT. ALSO CHICKEN SOUVLAKI (KEBAB). THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS RESTAURANT HAVE ALSO SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE MAYFLOWER AND PEROS STUDIOS.
