Hi, i popped on here to remind me why i really like and miss my old friends in kefalos, we first visited the village in 1994(the year after we married)it was lovely and relaxed the people in and around the village were the nicest we had ever met! we returned x2 every year until 2003, as we knew we were about to have twins, they have never been abroad, but this will change next year when we make a grand return, lots have changed i dont fit into the speedos just like kefalos, its spreading at the wings, we cant waite to find old old pals, the walk up to the old village ( we were there when you didnt have a short cut)the view over the tops on the bay, the hospitality, no loud music after midnight, the the palm trees were planted on the beach yep we were there watching, captain johns for lunch, over the ocean, nyssaros for the volcano(it will one day)bubble beach for well the bubbles, and therma for hot smelly water, the toilets(not the waste paper though),and hypocrites tree in kos town, most of these are free apart from getting there, it truelly is a marvel,if you are willing to sit long enough you will also pick up some greek i certainly did and still used the words to day, questionable some of them but at least in scotland some folk dont even understand the town next door!

Hi I will be travelling solo to Kos in September and was wondering how easy it is to get to Kefalos Beach from Kos Town where I will be staying.

Look forward to hearing from someone.

Just Back from another great holiday in Kefalos we're regulars since
1999. Stayed at the Kamari Bay again and were well looked after (as always)by Yanni, Tony, Maria, etc.
A beautiful clean hotel with friendly staff and lovely pool. Thanks for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable. Smile
Also thanks to Stamati And Kasennia at the Opa Opa, for lovely food and great music.

Kefalos is a great place for a slow paced holiday that re-charges the batteries until next year.

See you all in 2014

click to enlargeWe will be returning to Kefalos, Kos for the 5th or 6th (lost count) this year. We are married couple 43 yrs and 52 yrs, both parents and grandparents, but also very young at heart! We love this place, what you see is what you get, accommodation varies so do some research, but all in all, if a friendly atmosphere, good food, and lovely beaches does it for you, here is the place to come. There is night life, but not too much so when you go back to your apartment you can sleep, and not be kept awake by a thumping bass until 3am. We go to chill.......by day, Kefalos beach, it is a little shingly, but really......its fine, a lovely clean beach, and just off the beach a lovely taverna and apartments Savvasstuidios https://www.facebook.com/savvasstudios.kefalos to get drinks, food and/or accommodation, and just up the road from the taverna Jims supermarket....an absolute MUST! You can get EVERYTHING you need from here. Night time, there are many bars, we love the Dolphin Rock Bar, https://www.facebook.com/dolphin.rockcafe, family friendly bar, with music for most tastes, comfortable seating. Also provide accommodation and a pool. These are just a few places we have tried, but we keep going back time after time, we have made some wonderful friends there, and they have remembered our names from the very first year.

There is a small part of the beach near the harbour in front of the Cavos bar which is sandy and the water is shallow and clear.  If you use the sunbeds which are owned by the family who run the Cavos bar, they are free if you have your lunch or tea there.  They do excellent food, Gyros pittas are the best there and the beer is nice and cold.

the beaches at kefalos are too shingley for my tastes you need to buy beach shoes or your feet will be sore , the water is cold due to the water going quite deep quickly

We  came back from Kefalos last week having had a fantastic relaxing holiday, staying at the Antonis Hotel (basic but very clean and friendly).

The views round Kamari bay are beautiful, there are lots of excellent tavernas overlooking the bay and we found everyone there to be really friendly. The beaches can be shingly  but there is a small, shallow, sandy beach near the harbour which is ideal for children, or go to Paradise/Magic Beach. The water in the bay is crystal clear and you  can see the fish swimming, even from up on the road.

I really hope that Kefalos stays as it is and doesn't get over-commercialised.

Hi, just returned from first visit to Kefalos (Studios Manolis). The town/village was wonderful, even in August it wasn't crowded, with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. It was peaceful without being boring. Studios Manolis are great, typically Greek, clean and roomy. Good pool and pool bar. Kefalos beach not the greatest but good enough to enjoy. Would recommend Kefalos to anyone wanting a laid back resort.

Kos Island is amazing place to go. Beautiful, sunny and little windy, great for windsurfing and lying on the beach. very friendly people, very good food.
we were in Kefalos( 20 min from the airport -no problem with taxi or any transfers-don't book anything with your holidays coz it's cheaper there around 25 euros taxi to the airport from Kefalos)
Kos Town it is beautiful and situated near Turkey side(Bodrum Town) you can see two countries in one day-30 min to Turkey by ferry boat.
Now go back to Kefalos-many taverns and bars, quiet but only during a day, night life is't different. Now about our favourite place The Players Lounge-great people working there, music same like in the London best clubs but cocktails from around the world. Kos great place to go and cheap by the way. We would like to thank you to Dimitri who is running The Players- THANK YOU FOR YOUR HSPITALITY AND GREAT TIME

Ive just come back from Kefalos and the views were beautiful. I stayed in the Villa Popi apartments and they were so clean and the family that run it are so kind. Everything in Kefalos is suitable for everybody, im 15 and i found everything really nice. The beach isnt how it used to be. Its all been more updated the whole of the town. There is lots of shops. The beach isnt as pebbly and sunbeds there are comfortable with cusioney beds on them with a fitted pillow. Theres also quite alot to do there in the day time on the beach, quite alot of water sports there.

Hi, My wife and I just returned from the Kordistos Hotel, Great location and very friendly staff, Weather brilliant. Hubs restraunt fantastic. Quite a quiet hotel, poll too deep for non swimmers. Beach a stones throw from the hotel. We will be back.

After a week spent on Kefalos beach, we were very grateful of the lush sea and breeze to cool us a little.

While the beach we spent our time on was pebbly - shingle (which was uncomfortable to walk on without flip-flops, especially in the midday heat), we spent all our time on sun beds (5 Euros for 2 beds and umbrella for a whole day) right by the sea.

The sea was perfect for us all day, as it was very cool.  It soon became very deep, meaning you had to swim rather than walk on pebbles; however there was still shallow water in which you can play.

There are plenty of water sports available to try out, ranging from hiring a Pedalo (around 10 Euros for an hour), jet ski (30 Euros for 15 minutes) to water skiing, banana boats, ringos, parascending, wakeboarding and other water sports (http://www.baywatchwatersports.com/).

There are plenty of bars and restaurant/cafes along the beach front and along side roads, offering a variety of food and drinks to suit everyone.  They are all very cheap - the two of us never spent over 6 euros for lunch (about £4, so £2 pp!!!), including drinks.

The beach is a great place to be during the day and/or at night.  We spent many late afternoon/evenings on the beach and returned to local restaurants on the sea front for our evening meal.

Claire G

Beach was lovely , but very pebbly, would suggest cheap flip flops for going in and out of the sea as stones are very painful!

We have just got back from a week and the sea has a lot of Jelly type fish but they do not sting, loads of restaurants and bars nearby. We went on the sunbeds outside the Argo bar, 5 euros for 2 comfy beds (with cushioned matresses) and sun shade. Really quiet.

 thankyou rita

the weather in september is lovely hot sunny days and cooler nights so that you can sleep the sea is pretty warm at this  time of  the year too.

We came back from our second visit to Kefalos at the the end of September. We stayed at Sevi Studios where we stayed 5 years before. Yiannis and his family remembered us and made us feel really welcome. The apartments are basic but adequate and very clean and have there own safety deposit box in the rooms. The weather was beautiful, the beach was quiet and the people are the nicest i've ever met. I can't wait to go back I especially would like to mention Chrisoula and her family at the Savvas Studios and restaurant who were so kind and friendly. we were invited to her daughters 2nd birthday party and treated like true friends. I can't wait to go back.

Joanna D

We have just returned from a glorious week in Kefalos. We stayed in the Roses Studios.Although the appartments were basic, they had everything we needed and were clean. The Dolphin bar under the appartments is a great place to relax and enjoy the evening, either by the pool or inside with the very amusing barman Manolis. Eveybody we met on our holiday was very friendly and always made us feel welcome.Kefalos is the perfect place to escape the busy hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Amanda C

We returned from Kefalos last week after a fabulous weeks holiday, we would definately go back to Kefalos, the locals are friendly, there are plenty of places to eat and drink, we went to the Cafe Bravo most days, good food and so close to the beach for a cocktail, another good eating place was the Santa Barbara, there are plenty of places to visit, both food and drink are cheap in this resort, the temperature was in it's 100's all week, the beach was a little pebbly but the sea was so warm and clear, even the fish swim with you. Mainly couples there, hardly any families, so if you don't like loud children, this is definately the place to go. Kefalos village is worth strolling up to, very traditional place, Kos town, well, we didn't think much to. Excel Airways who we flew with were really good as well and they were on time both ways. There is one cash point machine in Kefalos next to the Oasis supermarket but there are banks in Kefalos village. Can't wait to go back next year (hopefully).

Hi all,

For those not sure about Kefalos, all I can say is thats its great, good weather in September, lots of good places to eat and beach is quiet some areas sandy some pebbly but the water is very clear (its not that cold) and a quiet place no hassle from the locals, unlike Karmendia which is more akin to blackpool and dearer

Emma L

I just got back from kefalos this morning, and am sooo depressed. It is the best place on earth as far as I am concerned. Just myself and my 9 year old son went, and both had the time of our lives. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Hired a car from Trust car rentals for just 15 euros a day and explored the island from top to bottom, everywhere was amazing but I loved kefalos the best. Great beach, though water is slightly cold!, Great veiws, great bars and cafes, but best of all great people. I am looking already to book another trip back (and I have never been to the same place twice before). I highly reccomend this resort to all (except 18 - 30's lager louts - you lot can stay in kardamena!!)
