Therma Beach - (Beaches on Kos)

click to enlargeWe  visited the springs when we hired a jeep on holiday at the beginning of August and we thought they were fantastic!  The water was really warm (even hot in places), the bubbles coming up through the rocks were fascinating and we didn't find the sulphur smell too bad.

We didn 't realise that there was parking at the bottom of the road down to the beach so parked at the top near the cafes and the walk back up the hill was a killer!

Definitely worth a visit!

Kefalos Beach - (Beaches on Kos)

We  came back from Kefalos last week having had a fantastic relaxing holiday, staying at the Antonis Hotel (basic but very clean and friendly).

The views round Kamari bay are beautiful, there are lots of excellent tavernas overlooking the bay and we found everyone there to be really friendly. The beaches can be shingly  but there is a small, shallow, sandy beach near the harbour which is ideal for children, or go to Paradise/Magic Beach. The water in the bay is crystal clear and you  can see the fish swimming, even from up on the road.

I really hope that Kefalos stays as it is and doesn't get over-commercialised.

Old Kefalos - (Places to Visit on Kos)

It's worth the walk up to the Old  Village, if only for the view over the bay. The walk isn't too bad if you take the short cuts  but take a bottle of water with you - you'll need it. We found quite a lot of paths which led up from the resort to the old village.

We didn't see the little old man with the bakery but we did stop at a cafe ( just a little stone built house with two wooden tables and chairs outside) and had Greek coffee and fruit juice for just 1 euro each. When the drinks came the lady also gave us (free) pieces of sticky, very sweet cake - delicious!

The old village isn't 'quaint' but it is traditional Greek. It's can  be easy to get lost in the narrow, winding streets as there aren't any street names!

An hour or two is long enough to be there  but definitely worth a visit - especially if you're staying in Kefalos.
