I stayed at the Lenaki apartments in October. I was disapointed with the room. The sheets and pillowcases were dirty. I couldnt work out if they hadn't been washed at all or whether it was just ground in sweat stains. The cooking facilities were basic, just 2 rings so we ate out most nights. The kettle fused the lights etc after a couple of days of us being there. The lounge was very uncomfortable with no sofa but more like a bench to sit on. They did clean the apartment daily though and this was done quite well. However the most irritating thing was that every day i had to have an ice cold shower except once when i got up at 6am.
The location was good though as its very close to the centre of Kos Town, and I wasn't at all afraid of walking down the dark road to get there at night...its nothing compared to the likes of London!
we stayed at the at the lenaki apartments from the 22nd oct to the 29th and found the place to be o.k. The food at the bar is very basic not much choice etc,The drinks are very expensive much cheaper from the supermarket at the bottom of the long dark road which i would'nt like to walk down alone at night, we ended up just going back to the room and filling the glasses with beer or vodka and coke.
I can honestly say that the only one of the staff that was ok was STEVE the barman who arrives at about 7 at night and stays with you till you fall off your stool, i found he was the only 1 that that didnt really only want you for your money. Which showed on the last night when he kept bringing over the free drinks.
We stayed in a block which is quite close to the bar but as we were usually in the last group to leave we were'nt really kept up at night although the first morning we were woken up by a cockerill, i can tell you it didnt cocka doodle doo the next morning ;-)
the room was a basic room but i think you get what you pay for we had to singles pushed together and one in the kitchen area at the front, the two main problems were that the plaster was falling off the wall and the showers got very cold very quickly.
BE WARNED THEY DO NOT SUPPLY TOILET ROLLS YOU HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN.
My little girl chloe was kept quiet by all the attention from the rest of the kids but they all seemed to be very happy with the facilities for them nice pool, little park at the back , football court and pool/football tables.
Just back from Lenaki, found the apartments very basic compared to places we had stayed in before, the standard of cleanliness left a lot to be desired we found fleas on the bedroom floor on several occasions and the paint was chipping on a lot of the furniture and fittings. There were 2 single beds in the bedroom and 2 single sofa/beds in the kitchen area, cooking facilities very basic just 2 rings, toaster and kettle.
Lovely pool area with free sunbeds, only food/drinks purchased at poolside bar allowed to be eaten by pool,we found the food at the bar was very expensive with little choice, mainly chips etc,
Drinks at the bar were expensive too, 1.90 euros for a can of coke, 2.80 for a beer, food/drinks at the Athina apartments next door were much cheaper and better value.
We found the staff to be at times ignorant and offish, we waited up to 10 mins to be served at the bar at times, whilst staff talked/joked amongst themselves.
Children loved the pool table and mini football table.
Very little in the way of entertainment, Greek nite on the Monday nite was worth a look, 12 euros adults and 7 for children got you a bbq meal, 2 greek dancers entertained you.
The Karaoke evening started very late 10.30pm not good if you have young children, we were in C block very close to the pool bar, both of our children were woken up at 11pm by a very bad and loud rendition of madonnas `like a virgin`
Beach is approx 15 min walk away.
If you want to book trips, go to the harbour which is a 15 min walk away, you will pay less than half the price the reps are offering the trips for.
We wouldnt go back to the Lenaki apartments, too basic/too expensive and the staffs attitude at times left a lot to be desired.
We stayed at the Lenaki the 2nd week of September. The apartments were clean, though requested a double bed and ended up with 2 single beds put together. The apartments are serviced daily. We stayed in Block A right near the pool bar which was quite loud at night till late which was annoying when we were in early. Some of the bar food was not very nice at all. Not allowed to bring food/drinks (apart from the food/drinks sold at the pool bar) around the pool and it is not cheap, alot cheaper from the store down the road. Pool was very nice has a pretty water fountain that comes up at night. Don't buy the cruise day trips from the reps go to the harbour and you will pay 1/2 the price. The yacht cruise is fantastic, you go to 2 islands and drop anchor near a third to go snorkelling but the one we went on visited a restaurant for lunch and the food was quite awful!! Also hire a quad bike (not the one on the corner down the end of the street from the apartments-there is another in the town that hires quads for 20 Euros per day and is very cheap on petrol...saw the whole island in 2 days and visited a beach called Camel Beach where nearby there is a little deserted beach with noone else on it.
The Lenaki appartments are situated some 10 - 15 mins walk from the town, enough distance to have a good stroll into KOS Town. The appartments are basic and suffice the needs for a few weeks holiday.
The Pool is excellent, and well maintained, loungers are free, but lounger mattress 1 Euro a day (Peanuts). No Germans fighting for loungers, there are plenty to go round for this small appartment complex.
There is air conditioning, but at a price. The first night is free to give you a taster, then its switched off!! reconnected at 49 Euros a week, its a must in August as its damn hot!!
There is a lovely night breeze that sweeps in from the coast and keeps it bearable to sleep and a gentle breeze whilst your by the pool. The bar shuts when the last man falls off the stool.
Unfortunately, we were housed in "A" block, and if I catch hold of that cockeral it will never cock-a-doodle-do again!!!! manily heard every morning from 5AM onwards "Guaranteed".
The food is OK there but we ate out at the "Caravan Restaurant" mainly "fantastic place", some 600m away towards town. The barbeque and Greek night are OK if your into that sort of thing.
All the trips organised by the Reps are expensive. Turkey trip 50 euros each with the rep, we booked at the harbour (Kostakis boat) for 3 people (2 adults + 1 child) 45 euros all in, saving 105 euros (work it out for yourself) same trip, plus tour of Bodrum etc.
Would go back again to the Lenaki, but on a last minute deal only. The Rep "Andy" was superb and at the hotel twice a day to answer questions with no hard sell.
Hope you enjoy!!!
Nice apartments, recommend the air conditioning. Family run, Steve the barman was great. Bar closes when last person gone. Swimming pool was great, bar food good. Good pool table. Good for families, met some great people.
Glad we didn't get 'A' block with the cockerels, also very near the bar.
Late night drinking guarantees a sunbed!
Don't buy the excursion to Turkey from rep, as you can buy it half price from the harbour.
Enjoy like we did.
Returned from here in July 2003. Better than we expected. Lots of families here and the apartments are family run. Steve the son speaks brill English and is great fun.We kept him company many a night till morning. The apartments are situated tucked away down a long track which can be quite scary if walking back from town alone at night! The nearest beach is approx 15 mins away but you have to pay to go on there including a sunbed. We ate lunch at a restaurant across the road who offered us free sunbeds. The town is approx 15 minutes walk where it is buzzing. We tried the Sportsbar near the Dolphin roundabout.Food was good there. Don't eat at Socrates in the square as it is expensive& one of our party was vomiting soon after eating his meal. We noticed the standards of hygiene was not good, as in many restaurants we had our food served up by waiters smoking(YUK!) Did find a nice Chinese restaurant, near Jackson's beach bar. Reasonable prices and lovely food. Did excursion to Paradise Beach, this was a beautiful place, reps were good organising beach games etc. Also the watersports were good and you get them cheaper if you mention JMC. I wouldn't recommend the Greek night in Zia Mountains, food was gross and we were very bored. But the BBQ held at the apartments on Sat nights was excellent. They had 2 greek dancers come in & everyone joined in. This was only 12E each for adults including food. Went to Turkey Tuesday(market day). Would recommend this especially for serious shoppers like myself. Can buy fakes of most designer gear. Need to 'barter' though, I managed to pay half the price they were asking this way.
We stayed at Lenaki in May 2003 and we overall very pleased
with it. The staff are very helpful - stayed up playing pool with
Stephen the barman till 5am. Facilities are very good, the pool is
nice and clean - a nice pool table, a very big tv which is kept
outside in the seating area of the bar.
+ Safety deposit boxes available for 10€ per week - always a
sound investment.
+ A nice shaded pool table - we had many a hour playing pool.
+ The apartments are very nice and clean - our shower was
VERY powerful - the water was hot except at peak times - which
was sometimes annoying.
+ The walls seem very thin, which sometimes proved hard to
bear when you have inconsiderate neighbours who like walking
around their apartment in high heeled shoes at 4am.
+ The building we stayed in was called "A" - now A is near the
road - which is generally very quiet - but across the road is a
farm - and they have cockrels, which we found most annoying as
they perminantley thought it was dawn. I swear if i saw thay bird i
would through something at it.
Eating
---------
The bar serves some nice meals - including english breakfast,
spagetti, ommlette, beans on toast etc...
There is a supermarket roughly 2 minutes down the road from
the apartments - very nice people and the prices are reasonable.
There are hundreds of tavernas and restaurants around Kos
town - i feel i should mention "Caravan" which is one of the
closest to Lenaki - its down a small street so you may not find it
immediatley.
The owners name is Hassan and will welcome you warmly -
infact you will find it very hard to get away without first being given
an Ouzo after your meal.
i am going to Kos town on the 7/5/03 to Lenaki apartments, wher exactly are they? also freinds coming for the 2nd week to oscar hotel in Kos town, want to know distance between if near each other, possible street names , maps ect.
We went to Lenaki in June for two weeks and we really enjoyed it. The bar had all the requirements needed to enjoy our stay, The cleaner was very friendly and the pool was beautiful! We also loved the Town we was there every night. The neighbours were very friendly also the weather was stunning, and so was the apts were great! We recommend this holiday to families.
The Lenaki apt's were great, about 10 min walk from the town where there are loads of thing's to do and loads of great places to eat.
Apt's very clean and the owner's very helpful.Able to change money on site.Good for kids have a weekly b.b.q all in all a really good place to go for a family holiday.
p.s Hello m.g & l
we stayed at lenaki in may 2002 during the world cup
we had a great time and the family run appts were excellent,
the location was only ten mins walk to the town centre and also the beach, but we mainly stayed around the friendly atmosphere of the appts, we would recommend this to all families looking for a quiet holiday, ( not much for kids to do though), but if you make friends like we did you will have a great time
ps. stop winning dave
REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY HERE, LOVELY APTS AND POOL WITH BAR, IN A QUIET AREA OF KOS TOWN ONLY A SHORT 2 MIN TAXI RIDE IN TO THE THICK OF THINGS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THESE APTS TO ANYONE LOOKING NICE FAMILY RUN APTS, NOT TOO NOISY, NICE & CLEAN AND I AM DYING TO GO BACK!!!!
We liked the apartments so much that we are going back again tomorrow. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the beach and about the same to walk into town. Bike hire at the end of the road was 3 euros a day. The apartments are in a lovely garden setting. Nearly all families staying there. Family run.
how far is the beach from the lenaki apartments, how far is it from the town center, and how much does the bike hire cost
