Hi Jane
Going back to Kos in may for a whole month, cant wait, for anyone going independantly i would recommend the savvas studios, we have been going for 8 years and would not dream of staying anywhere else. It is in the quieter end of the resort, just as you come down the hill take the turn at the side of jimmys supermarket and it is on your right overlooking the sea. Not only is it comfortable, clean and in a great location, it also has a great resteruant with the best home cooked food i have ever tasted, all cooked by mamma aka sevastine. as i say great place and feel privaleged to call the whole family friends.
Can anyone recommend apartments in kefalos?? my wife and i are great fans of the greek Isles, first time in Kefalos tho so any help would be much appreciated.
Hi Jane we'll be going back to Kefalos in August for our sixth visit. There are hills at either end of the town but the majority is quite flat. I would however recomend a car if you can for at leasy part of your visit as some of the villages higher in the mountains are amazing!! There's views romance and partying depending on what you want and where you go. Manolis car hire is our favorite (no website) but very helpful once you get ther or Trust (with website) a little dearer usually but it's worth trying to do a deal with him. I hope you enjoy your trip, anything else just ask. P.S. Not stayed at Billy's ourselves but local travel agent stays there all the time so I'm guessing it's good.
Just to add If you have seen the film Shirley Valantine She sits at a taverner watching the sunset in the film. The Theologist Taverner has the same atmosphere !!!
Hi there it might be an idea to take her to the Theologist taverner at the end of the island otherwise known as the sunset taverner, Its best to go an hour before sunset so you can have a meal and a wine and watch it set, You will have hire a car to get there, You go up through the old town and follow the road west until you get to the coast at that side of the island, We discovered it by accident and have been back everytime we visit kefalos,Its usually not very busy and all the tables have a wonderful view,Personally I think is better than watching set at Zia,No crowds,Hope to visit it ourselves in a couple of weeks,Hope this helps.
Hi Jack
Hi there,
I have returned today from my third holiday at Andreas Studio and Appartments where I have had yet another fabulous time. The owners Andreas, Rita, and there 2 children Anthoula and Christina take you into there family and treat you as one of there own . The atmosphere is truly amazing. The local people are also so friendly, It is just such a different way of life. The food, the appartments everything is just great. There is a very nice swimming pool, restaurant and bar where you can relax and soak up the sun or if you wish to go to the beach it is only a short walk. Car hire is quite reasonable and the scenery around the Island is quite astounding. The sunset at Zia for example. Saturday Night BBQ's are something else. Asolutely GREAT !! Can't wait to get back there in September. Thanks to all at Andreas Studios and appartments See you all again September
I am going to Kefalos in July and cannot wait! I am staying at the Artemis apartments. Does anyone know where I can find a resort map. I would like to see where I am staying in relation to everywhere else.
Have booked to go to Kefalos for the first time on 9 May 2009. What are the temperatures at this time of year? ?Are there plenty of nie greek restaurants and where would people recommend?

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the info, Mike.
Carolyn
Can you catch the bus from Kefalos to Kardamena, without having to go via Kos Town? THe only info on the bus timetables I've found are Kos Town to/from, and don't mention any route details.
Thanks,
Carolyn
Thanks Mike
Ginny
Claudia
Is it true that a taxi from Kefalos to Kardmenda costs 25 -30 Euro or is that the price from Kos?
Vicki
Going on 2nd July for 1 week, wondering what the distance is between Kefalos and Kardamena, as would like to sample the nightlife there whilst were away, how much are taxi's from Kefalos to Kardamena? Whats the bus route like to Kos town is it worth a visit? Cheers, Vicki
Marian
The 3 island tour is a very good day trip to go on.Most restaurants do fresh fish
Ar, thanks so much for that. Its my partners 50th birthday whilst we're there, and was wondering which is the best boat trip to go on, on her special day. Also, a really nice place to eat that nite. We all love fresh fish and all the mezes.. Ps. her birthday is on 5th July, I think its a saturday.
Marian

Hi Lisa .Have not stayed at Chrysoula apartments but reading on the Kos review search they have very good reports. Many places to visit, a must is Nysiros the active volacno island went last Sept.brilliant Greek night very good also Zia,Look on the www.justkos .co. uk site for more places to visit, hopes this helps,we have stayed in Kefalos every year since 1994 at hotel Zeus we love it
Kefalos is a fantastic holiday resort, as a few people here have mentioned it can a nice quiet relaxing holiday a great place to party. I've been several times and have booked again for next year! Can't wait to relax with one of Georges gin and tonics
Yes the super markets do stock pampers they are more expensive than in the UK,the end of august/september is still pretty hot!!! we won't have so many children around by then as they will be going back to school,
excellent holiday people are realy nice ,dolphin bar excellent as well as roses apartments
Kefalos is without doubt the most welcoming and fantastic place we have ever holidayed in. We visited last year for the first time, and have just got back from our second trip- so now we are in the process of planning our next (this coming from people who make a point of travelling to different places so we don't miss out on new things)!
On the bend where the garage or Pilios ( I think that's what it's called) supermarket there is a cash machine. Along the road from Players bar and opposite the Police Station, you can use your delta card no problem
Rita,or anyone who may know,is there a cash point in Kefalos that accepts debit card withdrawals? or anywhere on the island that you know of? Be there Thursday morning 26/7/7
Hi Everyone visiting Kefalos
we were in Kefalos( 20 min from the airport -no problem with taxi or any transfers-don’t book anything with your holidays coz it’s cheaper there around 25 euros taxi to the airport from Kefalos)
Kos Town it is beautiful and situated near Turkey side(Bodrum Town) you can see two countries in one day-30 min to Turkey by ferry boat.
Now go back to Kefalos-many taverns and bars, quiet but only during a day, night life is’t different. Now about our favourite place The Players Lounge-great people working there, music same like in the
Anna & Lukasz
Just returned on early hours Friday morn, what can i say? Kefalos was fab and it can be as lively or as quiet as you want. Plenty of excursions to do and good prices, although don't go through your Rep as you tend to pay nearly 20 Euro more than if you book it elsewhere. To those of you who are going soon ........... ENJOY
I have just returned from kefalos with my youngest daughter we both loved kos, we stayed in kefalos but travelled to kos twice, kefalos is beautiful there is plenty to do in the day (if you want to) but at night we found ourselves in sydneys which is a great place for both young old and the infirm! the weather was really hot got great sun tans, have travelled to may places cancun was alway my first choice of a great holiday but I think now Kafalos has won both of our hearts, any one reading this willl have a great holiday there!
I have been to Kos 3 times now and I am going for my 4th at the end of july I have been to Kefalos but that was back in 1999 per the comment below people I have spoke to loved it, said it was relaxing in the day but there are bars and 2 clubs I think they said to go to at night, its not as much as Kos town or Kardemena but there is still stuff to do at night, I was looking to relax in the day and not be bored at night as were not excatly old 26 & 27 so really looking forward to this and seeing it is very hot out there all the better even tho I wil prob look like a lobster by the end of day one
My boyfriend and I wanted a relaxing holiday that wasn't too busy, we have booked a weeks stay at Vasilis Studios, Kefalos but I can't find anything at all on the place!! can anybody help?
Bonita
Thanks Pat for your reply, we are also counting the days, we are looking forward to it so much after all the good reports I have read about both the resort and the hotel. I assume as so many people make return visits that its a 'little bit of paradise' - cannot wait. I might well think of a few more questions nearer the time.
jan, friends of ours who are going at the same time go snorkling on the beach every day in kefalos.you can also get a taxi boat to near-by paradise beach were the name says it all. paradise.we are flying from manchester and are counting the days.terry&pat kerley.
jan rawlinson. me and my wife are going back to the kamari bay hotel on the 4th of july for the 4th time.yannis the owner and tony the barman will soon make you feel like one of the family, and i,m sure you will have a fantastic holiday.as for fish restraunts most of them do great fish dishes, but for a giant cod or snappers you must try the rainbow. enjoy kefolas terry&pat kerley
I think the studios could be called either Georges or Arcondia,Arcondia studios with Libra, and Georges studios are now private but he still rents them if you want to just get your flight over.
Hi.
HI WE GO TO KEFALOS EVERY YEAR AND THINK IT IS THE MOST RELAXING PLACE EVER. THIS YEAR WE STAYED AT JACKS APARTMENTS AND LOVED IT SO MUCH WE ARE GOING BACK TO THEM IN 7 WEEKS TIME. THE OWNERS JACK AND MARIA ARE VERY WARM FRINDLY PEOPLE WHO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO BE NICE. THEY HAVE THE BEST AND CLEANIST POOL ON THE ISLAND AND THE BAR AND SNACK BAR IS SECOND TO NONE. WE WILL NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE NOW WE HAVE DISCOVERED JACKS.

Hi all,
i loved Kos Greece i have been to that Island twice now and i loved it. Me and my family always travel to Greece to different Islands. LOVIN ITTTT Kefalos was amazin as well all the Geek islands are. The food is fab
Kefalos was great. Lovely quiet, relaxing little fishing village with everything at your fingertips. Hotel was great, we went with Olympic, (Mayflower2) family really helpful and also really welcoming. We went to our Welcome Meeting purely because we felt sorry for our rep, Adam (he looked so tired after a night at the airport - we were delayed) and he was so cheery on the microphone on the coach, and even managed to tell us a cool joke about mosquitos I will remember always! Anyway, the talk was really informative and funny. We were told everything we needed to know, and a little bit about the locals which was very useful! I know without Adam's information we would have been quite lost! I read some bad reviews about him, and I don't know why! Someone else must've liked him! I know that we will be returning next year, I like to think Adam and all the Peros family will be there on my return! Go to Captain John's. We ate there every day, they even have sunbeds outside. Chrysoula was so nice, it was like having your mum on holiday with us! Also, go to Sydney Bar. Had such a good time there, its not too loud and louty like Kardamena! The guys in there are great, also met the reps there for a few!
Artemis Are just behind the babis shop. On the road up to Mayflower and Billys
Just returned from Kefelos last sunday morning very early, and 2 days back wish i was still there.
Stayed at Andreas studios, very basic, but had all amenities, apart from no kettle, saucepan had to do, and when we arrived, nothing to drink, no tea or coffee, and we arrived very late and desparately needed a hot drink, had to wait till morning. blah.
Went to Kos town three times, and loved every second of it, went over on the ferry to Bodrum, it was market day so went off to explore, wrong decision, just like any other market in the uk, except the turks are very very in your face to sell you something.
Very cheap for fake goods, and some so good you cant tell apart.
Not much in Kefelos apart from taverners, but very peacefull and a great place to chill, Mando's was brilliant, and his homemade shot was lovely, wouldnt say what was in it, but red and very very morish, ha ha.
And i will definately miss the iced beer glasses, and the cheap beer.
I was a single traveller to Kefaols in September 2006, staying at Jacks II. The accommodation was basic with twin beds, balcony, ensuite and kitchen with fridge, electric hob. Laundry changed twice a week. Quiet location. Excellent pool with restaurant attached. Short walk across a field path to the main road with its many shops, restaurants/bars and the beach. All the people were very friendly. English written menus. I spent about 20 euros day on lunch and evening meal making my own breakfast (take a small cooking pan with you). Bottled water is very cheap. Fun trying to make toast on an electric hob. I hired a car, the roads were easy to drive on, all drivers were very helpful. Buses are about one each hour in the morning although never on time, and travel to Kos where you get a bus to out lying areas or other resorts. Watch the return times otherwise you may have a long walk back or an expensive taxi ride. Highly recommended if you like history, walking, sunning yourself on the beach or pool and a quiet holiday. Not recommended if you like an active night life. You will need beach shoes for going in the water as there is a two metre of pebbles in the immediate water line probably to stop the sand from moving. Kefalos is slightly windy, cold in the evenings during September, good sailing and surfing area.
we hada lovely time staying in the resort of kefalos but where not happy with the hotel this year, the room that we had was over the bar and it was very NOISEY,we stayed for the second year running at the kamari bay hotel.never again.first year fab no faults.resort will visit again but NOT the hotel.can anyone rec a good clean quite self catering .
Thanks Heather and Mary Lou thats a great link!! I'll be there in a coupla days an I'm really lookin 4ward 2 it
Steve - don't know of these apartments sorry - but the weather should be fine. We have been going out to Kefalos this time of year for twelve years now and only seen rain on two occasions. You should find the temperatures around low 80's but slightly cooler at night with a bit of a breeze.
jst got bk from kefalos a couple of days ago and wishin i was still there!!! went with 9 of my friends and we rocked the place. all the people r soo nice and friendly and the bars r great fun, especially players! you get to dance on the bar and they set it on fire and evrythin. was an amazing holiday and def goin bk!
yes we have a pretty regular bus service from kefalos to kos town, also you can get the water taxi from the front to paradise beach everyday, the bus goes to kos every couple of hours in the morning and a couple of times in the afternoon the last bus gets back to kefalos about 9.30pm.
Hi, My husband & i go to Kefalos on thursday can anyone tell me what the public transport is like & how often they run.
Graham just seen your message not sure if you've had any answers. Firstly let me say you've picked a really good place to stay, the Hermes is great and so friendly, as are Diana and Sabastian the owners and their family. I'll be going in September for the fourth time and my parents the eighth!! The Hermes is full of people who go back year in year out. Back to your question, there is a hole in the wall up in the old town, its a bit of a walk up though and there's always the chance thats its out of action. There are safety deposit boxes in the hotel reception though and Diana will change travellers cheques for you so you don't have to go down to the town to change any.
Yasmin, check this link about the resort http://www.kefalos.com/. we dont know the exact location of your appartment, but manily all the hotels and appartment are within walking distance from the beach..
Hi we have just come back from 2weeks in Kefalos, and have had afab holiday. This will be our third visit to kefalos,we have always stayed selfcatering, but this year we stayed in the Athinoula Hotel,it was nice and friendly but we still prefer to go selfcatering. The weather was great and we enjoyed every bit of our holiday. The Harbour is very nice ,most of the restaurantes are in this area, and they all offer a good selection. You must visit The Corner Restaurant, its run by Mikalas and his wife Katerina, its very traditonal.Katerina cooks THE BEST STIFFADO IN KEFALOS,they also hire sun beds out ,and they have a little terrace where you can sit and enjoy a drink in the afternoon heat.Mikalas is a Greek version of Victor Melderw, One Foot In The Grave, HA
I will be on a single traveller holiday to Kos in September 6th to 21st. My age is 63 yrs young. I have hired a car and staying at Jacks 2. Anyone interested in meeting up?
I have just come back from a week in Kefalos and loved it. Its really pretty and very quiet. We stayed in the Poppi studios with Kosmar, which are a 5 min walk from the beach ( and ok to do in the middle of the night). We were right near the harbour and near loads of resturants. There were only a few bars, lots of resturants but no shops apart from supermarkets. I was disapointed in this as i love Greek silver jewlerry but apart from that it was lovely. If you want a good drink and a dance go to the Players lounge, right near the main beach or near kokalakis hotel. Great music, and the bar guys were lovely as were the two waitresses we met. Would definatley go back because of them. Any questions about Kefalos pls email. I only got back yesterday.
Leanne Pearce - you say that you are getting married in Kefalos next year? How have you arranged this, as I love the resort and would love to do this myself.
Kefalos was great. The weather was fantastic, very hot, the locals very friendly.
Hotel Hermes was everything we expected, clean, good food, friendly people. But you need to be fairly fit as it's half way up a hill.
We found two places to eat, one was Harry's, good roast dinner, the other was Scorpios which was brilliant, try the curry it was perfect, the staff, Emma and Sue, were freindly, helpful and a good laugh.
The boss Andrew was a true gentleman and again freindly and for an Aussie had a good sense of fun.
We will go back .
KEFALOS IS BEAUTIFUL IT IS THE PERFECT HOLIDAY YOU CAN CHILL CHILL CHILL OR YOU CAN HIRE QUADS AND CARS BUT WOULD RECOMMEND THE QUADS FROM TRUST HIRE THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY THERE AND EVERYWHERE ELSE IN KEFALOS THERE ARE PLENTY OF RESTARAUNTS TO CHOOSE FROM AND GIFT SHOPS SNORKELLING IS A MUST DOWN BY THE HARBOUR OR YOU CAN GET A SPEED BOAT TO PARADISE BEACH AND BUBBLE BEACH,, IF YOU WANT A GOOD VIEW OF THE BAY AND EASY WALKING DISTANCE FROM EVERYTHING ARCHONTIA STUDIOS ARE THE PLACE TO BE THEY ARE VERY CLEAN AND THE PEOPLE ARE EXCELLENT.
I first went to kefalos at the age of 9 years old and have now been 15 times, its paradise, I recommend go to bar sydney for a good night, the resort has lovley food people, there are very good beaches in walking distance, many people I have met always go back more than once after visiting for the first time, If you go hire a car or get the bus to the new water park it has just opened and has everything you need for the whole family, my partner and I are getting married there next may as we love it so much go you must what are you waiting for
KefalosOLd town onthe hill is a perfect landmark for old village life, sit in the Cafe right in the centre.
Hi to Lisa Andrew, there are plenty of nice beaches in and around kefalos, night time lots of places to eat and drink, stay open very late, there is a night club in town, also if you go to kardarmena (taxi)the clubs stay open alnight.we are again going in June/Sept our 23rd visit we love it. enjoy your selves
i went to greese last summer and we stayed in panthaone appartments which was a lovely family
run bussiness. kefalos is quite a quite resort with plenty of
things to do further out. i really enjoyed my stay here and am planing
to go back summer 2007.
also i to janite, panos, babis, mari, savi, harry and janis thank you for making my stay so enjoyable
Their are 3 cash machines in in the resort 2 down the beach and one at the bank in the village, bike hire their are quite a few places that hire bikes but all of them only have third party insurance.
Kefalos is a beautiful place. It has the right balance of peace and quiet coupled with good bars and entertainment in the evening.
Stayed at Kalonisa twice in 2004, first for one week, then for two. Back on 11th September 2005 for another two weeks - rather says it all, doesn't it? We're both young 50's, both work for the NHS - therefore well knackered and in need of a break - ready for a quiet holiday with nice restaurants and sensible (i.e. not in yer face English footie, although they're there if that's your bag) bars. This has it all, for us. Can't wait!
I could not understand where every body was, the resort was so quiet and for the middle of August it was incredible. For every shop open there was one closed and many studio blocks were closed down, obviously a resort in decline. The only things, which seem to thrive are the car/bike hire places, (everyone wants to get out of the resort). Not enough people to create an atmosphere in any of the bars. Would not go again, although we like a restful holiday this was just dead.
It back Hooray but doing strange things
Missing you all,hurry back board!!!
HI Heather...we go before you
Hi all
Thought it was just me....
No me neither - thought it was me!

Hi Tracey
Hi Allison
Obviously not your son I saw then, yes he did have an afro but not sure it was quite as big. Off to Kos on 11th now was a nightmare trying to get a flight under £400 they have reduced the number of flights out there this year but i'm all booked now so can start looking forward to it & get away from this miserable weather apparently is very hot over there now, so may not be running this time!!!!Hi Tracey
Allison

Hi Allison
I've learnt to take an empty soft holdall in my case to put laundry in for the return journey which leaves me with plenty of space in my stronger case for goodies(only done this since bought so much one time i had to go into kos town to buy an extra case. oops!)Hi Tracey
Hi Allison
Tracey
Hi Carol
I haven't stayed in the maritsa studios but stay very close, have heard they're nice and clean with friendly owners. I've found a pic on this website www.kefalos.com/accom.htmperfect for the relaxing holiday fairly quiet early July but just what we wanted . Basillica at one end of beach and harbour/restaurants at other. Kos Town only 45 mins by car in fact almost everywhere. Good selection of restaurants with fish/shellfish dishes you would pay double for in the UK.Beer 1.5 euros for 500ml and bottle of wine paid no more than 9 euros F(house wine around 6 euros a litre) Food excellent recommend Stanatia and Captain Johns
Hi Tracy I am going to Kefalos - Martsa Studios on 4th August 05. I can't find any information or pictures off these studios on the Internet can you possibly help. Carol
Hi Veronica
We have been to kefalos three times [hotel zues] we love it, when you have worked hard all year and your holiday's come round, this is the best place to be. As soon as you arrive relaxation sets in, [yeah flights are a bit naff] but you know its big chill out time, no hassel of resturants eat here n all that, the locals want you to love and share with you there kefalos . Me and my hubby decided that one day we will move to kefalos ITS THAT GOOD everytime we have to leave we are so sad i get emoitonal DONT WANT TO GO . So if you wonder whats kefalos is like just keep reading on here cause what i have read its true. One more thing someone said to me, once you have been to greece you will never go to spain again [so true] IT IS HEVEN ON EARTH
Hi just back ourselves from Kefalos, although a quieter place than what I'm used to you cannot be anything but impressed with the views from the harbour restaurants and bars and if your staying at the top of the hills like we were,. the views from the hotel were stunning. The greek people are very friendly and warm and you don't get hassled by clubs andrestaurants trying to get you into their bars etc. There are plenty of supermarkets and places to change your money, travellers cheques etc and most hotels do this for you anyway. The bars along the harbour are not too lively but are lively enough and B52 do a fantastic 'proper' cocktail which we took pleasure in trying a different one every evening! The Grand Cafe just next door is a great place to have your night cap (doubles at no extra cost), and Niko's special receipte of Egmek (cake) is out of this world and well worth a try! Food is cheap and very nice in the restaurants.
Hi Jean
Hi Jean
Hi Derek
I stayed in Kefalos 3 years ago at a great 3 story hotel at the top of the hill (5 mins drive, but a 45 min walk up the hill!). The pool overlooked the whole village, it was a great place to stay, but I can't remember what it was called. Can anyone help, as I'd like to return.
Zoe
Zara sorry that msg I wrote for 'Zoe' was meant for you. Short term memory especially whilst thinking of Kefalos i have a 16 week wait before i return for my 3rd visit this year can't wait but feels like a lifetime away

Please Help i need some information on the shops in Kefalos i havent heard much about them!
Great to see many of the gang again at Harry's. Graham/Andrew or what ever your name is! Hope your birthday celebrations went well. Sorry we missed it. Will buy you a beer next time. Can't wait to get back in July, if they'll let Vaughan back in!!! Guess which rep was on duty at the airport? and she was extremely nice to us.
My fiance and I got back yesterday from a week in Kefalos and it was perfect, we're planning on going back again, we cant wait! x
Colleen, I've just come back from Kefalos a couple of weeks ago and found the local people very friendly. My son and I ate at our apartments most nights (the Pantheon) but one night we went to Stamatia on the sea front and had a wonderful meal. The service was very good too. I'm sure you will have a lovely time.
