Sunset Aparthotel

Accommodation in Tingaki

Andrew N

Despite being told by our rep and everyone else that this was the jewel in Tingaki's crown, this hotel was apalling.  The first room we were shown smelled, was dirty and had 3 cockroaches waiting to say hello when we were shown in at 4.30am.  We asked to be moved and were shown to another dirty room that smelled of urine and had a couple of cockroaches waitning for us.  The next room we were shown just smelled of urine - we couldn't see if there were any cockroaches because the bathroom light was broken.  When I brought this up with the hotel owner he became violently aggressive, called me dirty and threatened to call the police.  The rooms are so basic you might be in Butlins in the 1950s.  Just a two-ring electric plate from the 1980s - no kettle - no toaster - no microwave.  To describe these rooms as self-catering is laughable.

We stayed in the Ariadni Apartments behind The Sunset; a great location for those of you who truly want a VERY quiet place to stay.  A nice 1km walk to the beach (and back!) with a supermarket just up the lane on the other side of the road that sells literally everything you can think of.  The apartments were clean and equipped adequately (although no can opener!).  Lots of tavernas in walking distance.   Would definitely return to Tigaki and these apartments.

Just back on the 11th after 2 weeks at the Sunset Aparthotel. Had a fantastic holiday, great place for families. The pool and snackbar were great. And the Hotel barman Nikos was VERY helpful . Though he didn’t have a sense of humour

I would go back there again.

hI - I NEED TO KNOW IF TOLET ROLL IS SUPPLIED, READ IN SOMEONE ELSES COMMENT THAT IT WASN'T! DO I NEED TO TAKE A KETTLE AND TIN-OPENER?? THANKYOU

Gemma F

Just got back on the 1st. Hotel was excellent room was slightly basic but was ok for us! Nikos the barman was lovely really made us feel welcome at 4 am after a nite out when we sat chatting away to him! tingaki itself is kinda quiet but Mascot bar is really good!

Viki H

We actually stayed at the Ariadne apartments behind the hotel but has use of the pool. The pool are was nice and despite going in peak season we never had a problem getting a sunbed. Pool bar did a range of food and drink at reasonable prices with great service from Yianni. Try the chocolate milkshake!!

We borrowed someone's room on the last day and it was very clean. -Thanks Michelle if you ever happen to read this!!
Ideal for families even with small children.
However, it seems that this hotel is the first one as you drive into the resort and therefore furthest from the beach (1km)
The First Choice Rep Jakki was excellent and will help anyone even if you have not travelled with FC.

Yvonne D

We had a wonderful time at the hotel, the staff were very friendly & helpful the maids were excellent.

The pools were a godsend as the heat was unbearable some days but there was a slight breeze most days.
The guy at the poolbar was always cheery. I would recommend this hotel to anyone with children or as a couple.

Paul G

If you want a complete chill out bar try the red house/rock and blues bar down by the beach.Dave and Jan give you a warm welcome, booze is top, music is 60s 70s hippy cool  .Dave is up for a jam if you got any music in you.Air con and atmosphere are just what you need to unwind after a day full of rays !!

Paul G

Just got back today...really clean ,facilities minimum but adequate.Suggest air con if going in july /august(80 euros for 2 weeks but worth it for a good nights sleep)Konstantinos supermarket across road where you can get everything you need.10 mins from beach,5 mins from all tavernas/bars etc.Pool clean and well kept.Cleaners not too early as suggested by other comments.

Sunset Aparthotel has very friendly staff and the rooms are kept very clean, only thing I hate is that the cleaning staff comes around early so no lie in but maybe thats for the best as least you are up, excellent position as you have a supermarket right across road with everything you want and need, and its quite.
The pool is really good and the snack bar has a great menu. Would recommend Sunset to anyone, we are going for our third year to Sunset

Shaun A

just got back on the 14th . weather was excellent ,rooms very basic , no tv or radio ,no oven either , just a hot plate . but clean enough .id recomend to anyone hire a bike and tour the island , there are only so many things you can do in tingaki . as far as the barman goes ( is that the one with the spikey hair on reception ) ? he thought he was gods gift , as did most of the young lads who thought every woman they tried to chat up wanted to jump into bed with them , married or not ! . anyway enjoy , glad we went , but we wont be going back .

Linda S

room simple but adquate, facilities good. most staff helpful, except the bar man, who was only interested in himself, not good customer service when a member of staff puts their own needs before those of the guests. would not stay there again.

Shirley M

Returned on 29th August. Good clean and friendly place. Basic but enough for needs. Nice location just out of main area but only ten minutes walk to beach shops and tavernas - nice steady flat walk. Konstantinos supermarket opposite supplies everything you need and more - it's a real Aladdins Cave! Adequate pool but if you want a parasol need to get there early. Only grouch is that maids start work very early - no chance of a lie in!

just returned from sunset,2 weeks of bliss, except for mozzies who are out in force at moment, staff and sula on reception very friendly, maids enter a bit early,no lie ins, very well kept rooms, and bathrooms, fan is a must 12 euros per week, supermarket (konstantinos)opposite has everything you need at reasonable prices,1 mile flat walk to beach, lovely cool breeze there, meals out reasonable, vasilles, and saggitarious good, but try everywhere, very very friendly and trustworthy people in tingaki, pleasure to visit

Michelle H

Myself and partner stayed at the Thimanakis Studios, but had an extended room at Sunset. It was a lovely and clean hotel. Tingaki was great, such a relaxed and cheerful place. Hoping to go back again in Sept. Grand Salle was a great restaurant to eat at with friendly staff. I would like to say a big thanks to Soulous on reception at Sunset Hotel, she is GREAT.

Simon W

Sunset is quiet and clean - Air Con a must have. Everyone really friendly. Maids came to clean too early in the morning. Take your own toilet roll as they won't be supplied. Try Andy's Special at Memi - a good treat. Scala's Gyros was good too. Zoula on reception at Sunset was very helpful and kind. She is a good woman and deserves more recognition for the work she does. see you all soon

Lee M

Hi, Im off to Sunset Apartments on 17th July for a week with my daughter. Her name is April & she is nearly 16. Is anybody else going with teenagers ?

Paul F

Is there any entertainment at night time in the sunset appartments, and is the air conditioning expensive to run. Do we need to take are own kettle for tea. We are staying at the sunset appartments in two weeks time any other information would be grateful thanks

Lesley H

staying in tingaki end of july could anyone tell me if there is a car hire co. there. many thanks

John C

Had a wonderful time at Sunset end June 2004. Friendly hotel especially Sena on reception. Clean rooms/air con 30 euros per week. Fans not sufficent so this is a must. Best restaurants are Mediterenee (Dave on the street is a charming and genuinely lovely bloke , speak to him even if you are not going to eat there. Also recommend the Ampeli which is in the middle of a vineyard at the very far end of the beach road (turn right) Very reasonable and extremely romantic.the little taverna just opposite Sunset is called Margarita and is owned by a very funny and charming man called Janis (Leftie. Good food and very cheap drinks. Tingaki is great for cycle hire and mopeds and quads but did not see many car or open top hire places. Me and Emma hired a tandem which was great fun and not a little romantic......Recomend a trip to Zia for Greek Night or just to watch an amazing sunset..

Carrol H

we are going to sunset apts on saturday, kids want to know what time the pool closes,, can anybody help ,

Shaun A

thanks john . we are,nt taking the kids this year , so we thought we would hire a big bike out for the week . all the best . shaun .

John Q

There is a motorbike rental co just down the road from the Sunset, the rates are about a third to half cheaper in October. We hired one from them last year. I`m guessing but I think we paid about £7 per day.

Chris F

Just returned 17th June, had a fantastic time. Apartments basic but very clean. Kids enjoyed the pools so much we only went to paradise beach once. Great variation on restaurants, tried Mediterrane, which was good but slightly expensive, Sagitarius, good and very reasonable, Best was Rodini, tried it on the last day, wish we had tried it the first day, very good value, food excellent especially the greek plate.

Thought 35€ was expensive to have a room until 8:00pm, but essential if you have kids, there is a shower/changing room by the pool if you don't want to pay.

The poolbar was good with tasty cheap snacks, ask Nickos for olives in your greek salad, they didn't have any all week so I bought them a tin which they found very amusing, they bought me a beer in return which was nice. Great place for kids.

Chris

CAN ANYONE HELP!! OUR FLIGHT TIMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED WHICH MEANS WE DONT FLY HOME UNTIL 2.55AM!!! IS THE APARTHOTEL SIMPATHETIC AND OFFER AT A COST A ROOM TO STORE BAGS AND PERHAPS SHOWER OR SLEEP.. WE HAVE 2 YOUNG CHILDREN.WE LEAVE ON SUN JULY 11.

Kay B

We stayed at the Sunset first week in May. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious. Cooking facilities are basic but adequate. There are air conditioning units which you pay for, but there is a large window which has mesh on the outside so you can have it open at night and no creepy crawlies can get in! The pool is really nice and there is a pool bar. There are lots of good restaurants and bars, some just up the road and others in town. You do have about a 15-20 minute walk to main area for the music bars etc. The bar in the hotel is very nice and they serve good cocktails. The beach is excellent but it can get a bit breezey! We had a lovely holiday and would recommend Tigaki for anyone looking for a relaxing time, with good food and very friendly people.

Debbie Q

my family are going to The Sunset apartments in july 2004 and wanted to know if any of the rooms have air conditioning in them. We have 2 kids aged 11 and 12 and wondered what facilities they have for kids ie.pool table, games etc or do we have to go to town for kids entertainment?

Sandra W

We have just returned from two weeks at the Sunset Apartments. Very basic, but adequate. The rooms were very good, cleaned regularly and the staff were very friendly, especially Sula on the reception desk, she always had our key to the room ready, we never had to ask for it. Pool was first class, bar snacks and drinks very good and very reasonably priced. We ate most of our meals at the Grand Salle restaurant, excellent food, excellent prices. Theokritis Travel just down the road is the place to book all your Tours, Rick was exceptionallyfriendly and helpful. Would go back again.

Martin A

Could anybody recommend a reputable & reasonably cheap local car rental firm(s) in Tingaki?

We are arriving on 20th September and would like to hire a car for 5 to 7 days to explore the island.

I would like to be able to compare rental prices and find out whether it would be cheaper to book in advance from the UK before departure, or whether to wait until arriving in Kos.

Thanks,
Martin

Martin G

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay here, rooms are clean and
spacious, pool and sunbeds terrific! pool bar was charming with
friendly efficient staff, reasonable and tasty snacks, the best
Greek salad in town! fanhire is a must, cooking facilities basic
but a very good fridge and wonderful views to the sea from our balcony, about 15 mins walk to the beach, our Children loved the
fruit cocktail drinks in the pool bar, special for kids, they
recommend Harry Potter and Monsters Inc, fun names for the drinks!

Deborah M

Hi, does any one know where the nearest cash machine is to the sunset aparthotel, and also where to change travellers cheques?

Sara R

I have just come back from a fab holiday at the Sunset Aparthotel. The rooms are fairly basic and a little small but the staff and the facilties are great. The pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and more importantly for us, umbrellas. The pool side bar serve food (breakfast and snacks) until 6pm. The food is good and cheap! The hotel is little way away from the beach but is ideally situated for the supermarket and bars/restaurants.It is also directly opposite the bus stop to get you into Kos town. If you are going out there soon have a brilliant time, we did!!!!

Jane G

For the person who wanted the telephone number for the sunset aparthotel, its 69428 69979 and fax no 69428 69429.

May I just add what a great place me & my B/friend thought this was, had a week there in May this year, got on great with everyone, can't wait to go back!!!

Karen D

we had 2 weeks 2nd - 17th of july we thought a week would have been enough staff are ok but didnt find them very friendly apart from the older man on the desk. fans are cheaper at the supermarket only 15 euro to buy but if you are caught with one you will be asked to move it or leave so hide it in the morning get up early if you want a good sunbed and dont eat the english breakfast you get 2 rings and a fridge take a keetle and tin opener

Angela L

hi,

me my husband and our two children my sons girlfriend and my mum and dad are all going to sunset aparthotel in october is the weather still nice what are the prices like any good places to eat and is there a fridge in the rooms

Tanya S

Please can you help! I need the telephone and fax numbers for the Sunset Aparthotel in Tingaki, Kos.

I need to find out if they have a day room availabale for passengers to use once they have checked out. My clients have to check out by 12noon and don't fly out of Kos until 0240 hrs and would like to know if there is somewhere they can shower and change before departure.
Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

Lisa W

my partner, mother-in-law and i stayed at the sunset apartments for the 1st week in may. we were pleasantly suprised at the spacious apartment, the location was great and the people were very friendly. to get to the beach from the sunset you pass all the little tavernas, restaurants and gift shops so you can have a leisurely browse while you walk to your lazy day on the beach. one little tip is to sample the breakfasts down the main street first as we found the hotel breakfast a litle spa**e. all in all though a lovely hotel.

Ian M

Rosemary and I visited Kos for the first time last year and stayed in the Sunset .
It is Fantastic although there is a 5-10 minute walk to the beach however you pass All the bars, resturants shops etc on the way so passing your time.
The Hotel has excellent facilities,Bar,Pool etc and if you just want to relax at the pool the prices at the pool bar are very reasonable and the snacks are good.
There were a few kids around the pool as you would expect what I didn't expect tho was how well behaved they all were.
We went on a few trips with Theokritos Travel which you will find down the street and they looked after us very well indeed.(Even to the extent of getting Rosemary Seasickness Tablets for one trip!!)
The Bus picking ypu up right outside the Hotel.
Across the Road is a Fantastic Supermarket which is cheap with good quality food available.
A trip on Public transport to Kos town is Very Cheap and again the bus stop is right outside.
The rooms are spacious clean although the Cooking facillities are basically 2 electric rings but the food is that good you will eat out anyway. So if you like a Cuppa bring a travel Kettle and you can Hire fans(a Must)I would look at acually buying a Fan from the Supermarket as if I remember it works out cheaper, then again you have to leave it.
We had a power cut EVERY Day we were there but in fairness the whole Island went out as they were fixing some transmitter.
Finally Would we recommend it?
We have booked the same hotel the same room for 2003.
If you want a relaxing holiday with plenty to see and do
Get there you will love it
Ian

Karen D

Staying at the sunset first two weeks of july next year. would like to know if we need to take a kettle and whats the rooms beech and bars like. we would also like to rent a motorbike anyone know the best place to do this

Dave F

Very convenient to all amenities in town (just a short walk to shops restaurants and beach). Bus stop to Kos immediately outside aparthotel. Very good, large and CHEAP supermarket opposite aparthotel. Best restaurant in town is ORAMA, (half way to beach). Excellent food and service and very friendly waiters. A must to visit and also very good value for money, whatever you choose to eat. Go for it!!
