Would love to go on this trip, but from the reviews am wondering if it would be safe with kids. Would you take kids?
Stayed at the Angela Apartments from 17-7-04 until 01-08-04. Very nice apartments, pool was nice too and the staff at the snack bar were very friendly.
Went to Paradise Beach with Theokritos Travel (it was free because we had booked 2 other trips that was on offer) I had read bad reports on here but we got there at 10am and were more or less the first people there. Beach was great, excellent for watersports and cheaper than Tingaki Beach, try the Flying Fish. Staff at Snack bar ripped me off so be careful.
Beach was good but the sea could me a bit wavy at times, you can walk quite far out as there isn't steps in the sand like I had imagined. Watersports are more expensive here. If you walk up the beach quite far to the right there is a nudist beach if you are into that.
We went with Theokritos Travel and it cost 66 euros for 2 adults,2 children and my 2 year old was free. We had a brilliant day haggling and they are really friendly, you get a better rate if you pay in Sterling or Euro, but it did feel good when I went to the bank and withdrew 50 million (even if it was Turkish Lire) about £20. we walked up the the mausoleum which was a trek in the heat but if you are interested in History its well worth a a visit.
We went with Theokritos Travel to Fantasia Taverna near Zia and we had a great night with live music, lovely food (lots of it) and endless amounts of wine. The dancers are good with one of them dancing with 4 glasses (with drink in) balanced on his head. all this for 25 euros. Well worth a visit.
We went on all our trips with theokritos travel in tingaki and this was really good, how often do you get to stand in the crater of a volcano. The smell of Sulphur (rotten eggs)was really strong and its quite a trek into the crater. Bus ride was a bit scary. The village was nice, so quiet if you go there is a drink they sell on that island only called soumada and is made from ground islands, we brought home 2 bottles and its like a cordial you just add water and its lovely.
We hired bikes on our last day and rode up to the stables it cost us 100 euros for 2 adults and 2 children my 2 year old came on the horse with me (FOC) prices are usually 30 Euros for an hour. We enjoyed it and would recommend it.
We only went for half a day but it was good as we had kids and there was no queuing for any of the slides. We didn't buy food as we were told it was expensive, so we took snacks and got caught and was tols to take them over to the bar and collect when we were leaving, but we just pushed them under the sunbeds.
We booked through theokritos travel in Tingaki and we had a fantastic day, first we stopped off at Kalymnos were we visited a sponge factory then got back on the boat to go to the other side of the island to Vathi for lunch (which was included in the price)25 Euros each. Then back onto the boat and onto Plati which is were the boat drops anchor and you can hire snorkelling stuff and jump off into deep clear water, we got to stay for about an hour and then back on the boat to visit pserimos where you have about an hour to soak up the sun and swim.
We visited the ancient site west and also just across the street the roman theatre it was unbelievably well preserved when you compare it to other ruins, mosaics are in immaculate condition showing all the gladiators and the old roman road is still intact.
We drove around for over an hour and couldn't find it, we saw no sign posts but we would have loved to have visited.
We drove up there and it cost 4 euros good for photos and if you like history/archealogy. Girls you have to wear a top because there are 2 temple ruins! Drinks are very expensive especially slush puppies but if its really hot its worth it I suppose
I had read about Therme hot springs on here but was sceptic, until I got there, we went in and it was just like normal sea water (cold) but aftyer a few steps it got warmer and as you got closer to the entrance were the water was coming in it got soooo hot. There was a local laid in the water with his head in it, i couldn't even put my toe in it, it was that hot. I wore jewellry and it was fine but that is up to you. definately worth a visit.
Nice village, sunset is good but comes and goes so quick we saw it when we went on the greek night.
We stayed at hotel angela at the far end of the main road away from all the bars etc but still only 10 mins from the lovely beach. We had a really good time and the locals are so friendly.
I never saw the hotel you are wanting to find but here is an web address of a tour operator in tingaki (she is english) and she may be able to help you find it www.thekritostravel.gr if you go to the contact section and email her.
sorry web address was wrong www.theokritostravel.gr
We enjoyed our holiday and overall it was good, however i asked our rep a couple of times for things with the reply she would get back to me, she never did, apart from that didn't need her for anything which i suppose was a good thing.
