Had a wonderful 2 weeks at the end of May 2003, peaceful, charming, but if too many people go it might get spoilt!! Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.
A really good bar to chill out and relax in the early evening, watching the last of the sun's rays settling on the island of Nysiros in the distance. The girls are great and it has a nice, relaxing atmosphere.
Lovely time to go is the last 2 weeks in May. Weather can be a little bit variable, but don't let that put you off.
Take a trip if you like to see a bit of the history of the island. Down at harbour, check out the "cat sanctuary" under the big tree, if you ask the guy nicely, he'll let you go in and have a closer look. Well worth a day out.
Had a Jimny for a week, ver good vehicle for an island this size, try going "track bashing" up in the mountains, or on some of the more remote areas - just throw the map away and follow your nose!!
Had a lovely 2 weeks in Kamari Bay Hotel at end of May 2003. Very clean and with friendly staff. Tony behind the bar mixing a mean cocktail. Would certainly go back again.
Very quiet beach, split into 2 areas, also a very nice restaurant there. Give it a try.
Very nice old village, worth a walk up the hill from Kamari Bay if you are staying there. Make sure you walk round the back streets and find the baker's shop with the little old man - absolutely great home made cakes and a cup of coffee - worth the walk up.
Take some time to wander round, anjoy a relaxing lunch in the main square - then get in your hire car, throw the map in the back seat and just explore the mountains!!
Well worth a trip, put your swimming stuff on so you can just get undressed and jump in when you get there - the water is lovely and hot!!
Went to Zia late morning, absolutely crammed with coaches so we could hardly move. Went back next morning at about 0900 hrs and much nicer and quieter. As for the sunset, as an alternative try going over to Ayios Theologlu (if staying near Kefalos) and watch the sunset from there - we did and it was superb.
Visited here whilst staying at Kefalos - drove in and straight out again - watch for it on "Holidays from Hell"!!!
Take time out to spend a day in Kos town - you won't be disappointed.
Probably the best in Kefalos, the food was superb, the waiters and service excellent, and very competitive priced. Be sure to give it a try.
We quite often travel with Thomson, and glad we did this time. Booked through Thomson direct, excellent pre-holiday service. First class reception and transfer from Airport, and the rep in Kefalos (Lesley) was the best! Well done Thomson - keep up the good work.
