We hired a jimny form Ritas car hire which is alongside the Andreas complex by the harbour in kefalos. Very decent rates and Rita very helpfull too,we nedded a child seat which was installed at no extra cost, superb
We hired a Suzuki Jimnyon our last trip to Kefalos, and to Amy & Carl you need to be 25 to hire one and just need your driving licence with you when you get the car. We had a bike for the fornight we were there, but hired the car for 2 days and it cost us 45euros for a day and a half from Kastri (however it would probably work out cheaper for a longer period of as time). Hope that helps.
Hi all, been reading your comments on the Jimny and it sounds like the car we'll hire when we go to Kos mid-August. We have a couple of questions you may be able to help us with:
How much (roughly) does it cost to hire the Jimny?
What documentation would we need to hire the Jimny?
Who can drive it? ie How old do you have to be, and what documentation would the other drivers need?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Amy and Carl...
We liked this fun jeep. It has a canvas top that can be pulled down from the front or back separately. There is more protection in the back for children on this than the Samurai, and this was an important consideration with a 3 year old and 7 year old. It has power steering and ABS. It’s great for getting about the Island, especially up the mountain roads to Zia. On the down side: with a 1.3 litre engine is a bit under powered and there is very little luggage space in the ‘boot’ and virtually zero security, but on Kos that was never a problem! I must admit we never had to engage 4 wheel drive, but the option is there is needed. You can keep your air-con - driving along with the wind in your hair on a glorious sunny day takes some beating for our money and the kids loved it.
We hired a suzuki jimny from alpha car hire in tingaki, they were very helpful and friendly and the car was great! only 2 years old. Dont hire a car through your tour operator as they charge 3 times the price. The insurance is in english and very comprehensive
Hired one of these from Luca's (Near Camelot Restaurant). Just right for the island, and his is one of the better prices in Kardamena.
Great fun on the more adventurous roads (B roads tend to be worse than our quarry roads so don't try them with a Panda!)
I hired a Suzuki Jimmy from M.L.RENT A CAR in Kanari Street, Kos Town. It was great fun as we went off road up in the mountains above Kos Town. The views were spectacular and we had a great day out. I took my friend Alan Goodship from Stevenage and his father-in-law and they had a day to remember, the views over to Turkey were fantastic.
The SUZUKI JIMMY was great, but do NOT take any more that 4 people as the rear seats are fairly small.

Had a Jimny for a week, ver good vehicle for an island this size, try going "track bashing" up in the mountains, or on some of the more remote areas - just throw the map away and follow your nose!!
