Lovely resort and hotel was clean. The only problem we had was with the receptionist at Sunny Days who complained of the noise of our Flip-flops nearly every morning. The floor is marble and there are no lifts so its virtually impossible to stop shoes from loudly hitting the floor! In the end we had to take them off when we made early morning trips or got back to the hotel late after a night out.
excellent
excellent summer holidays,at sunny days hotel appartments... recomment to averyone"
Sunny Days Apartments and studios. 4-11 September 2004
We arrived 12.30am Sunday morning. Room A14, 3rd floor, facing trees but also could see the pool area.
Airport---- Small but ok, We quickly received our cases. 1 hour from landing we were in our studio. No problem with return flight.
Hotel----- Sunny Days hotel may be on a main road, but there was not a lot of traffic. There were 2 Apartments above the reception area, over looking the road. All other apartments looked out over a small side road, the pool area or some trees.
Reception---- The reception was quite big for a greek hotel. This was because there was also a bar and 2 big screen TV's. The bar/reception stays open until about 3am on a Saturday night. We think this may be due to a lot of flights arriving and leaving early hours of Sunday morning. On all other nights the bar/reception stays open as long as there was someone there (mostly between 12-2am).
Internet---- About 6 internet PC's, 30 minutes for 2 euro's. Ok if you want to keep in touch with people back home. Not the fastest PC's I have been on, but who want's to use them for a long time when the sun is shining outside.
Rooms----Our room was very hot when we arrived, We do recommend you get air-conditioning. We had a double bed and 1 single bed. The kitchen area was basic (But what greek hotel is not), It does have a kettle. As we only ever used the fridge this was not a problem for us. The only complaints we had about the room was 1) The towels--They were very very rough and only changed on a Monday and Thursday. 2) Linen changed only on a Wednesday. 3) There were only 2 plug sockets in the room, which were not in the best place. WARNING----- THE SHOWER. There was only a small hole in the floor to drain water away. The water comes out the shower faster than the water drains away. On the first night, we (or should I say I) flooded the bathroom and half the studio.
Air conditioning---- 50 Euros for 1 week and 100 Euro for 2 weeks in a studio. 70 Euros for 1 week and 130 Euros for 2 weeks in a apartment. The air-conditioning was very good, We left it on all day and night. We did need to turn it off a few times at night or use a blanket.
Safety boxes ----- 15 Euros for 1 week and 25 Euros for 2 weeks. This was operated with a key.
Fans------- 15 Euros for 1 week and 30 Euros for 2 weeks.
To keep room after check out----- Check out 12pm. 15 Euro's to keep the room until 7pm, 30 Euro's until 10pm. You maybe asked to move your things to another room.
Pool area------ The pool area was nice. It has a good size pool with a wooden bridge across the middle. There was also a shallow children's pool. The sun beds were also wooden with flowered mattresses. 3 Complaints about the pool area--- 1) The water was very very cold. 2) The sun did not shine on the pool area all day. We had to keep moving beds. As the hotel was not full this was not a problem. If the hotel had been full we would not have been able to have the sun all day. I like to have a bed which you just have to turn around a little as the sun moves. 3) The greek lady that served food and drink played loud greek music all day. If you like peace and quiet this is not the pool area for you. There were 2 other pool's nearby. One was at the Sunset, which was about 3 minutes walk. This was a bigger and more open area but again they do play loud music (English). The other one was at hotel next door called Aspro Spiti. This was a nice area which gets the sun all day and was very quiet. The hotel is owed by a greek family who were very friendly. We spent most of our days at the Aspro Spiti.
Restaurants------ The 7 restaurants we ate at.1) Grand salle--- Nice food and wine. A little expensive compared to other restaurants. 2) Rodini----- If you like good greek food at cheap prices this is the place to go. Warning------ if you order the greek plate special for 2 do not order anything extra. This meal would feed 3-4 people. The wine is not that nice, but is included in the price with the food. 3)Spyros---- Good food, but most things served with chips. 4) Meni---- Very nice setting. We had a bad time. It was 1 hour 15 minutes after ordering before we received our food. 5) Unsure of the name, but it has 3 dancing men on the sign. Very Very good food and wine. Very greek. 6) Tingaki grill----large menu, to much to choose from. Good food and wine. Sagittarius---- Small menu, but very good food. Large greek salad. They also do curry, which looked and smelt very nice, but we did not try.
Tingaki-------- If you like somewhere to be both Greek and English this is the place for you. There was one main road where all the restaurants and pubs were. The restaurants do Greek and English food for Adults and children. There were a lot of English type pubs serving happy hour cocktails. If you like the Greek atmosphere you can also have a drink in a restaurant. There was 1 big supermarket, which was next door to the Aspro Spiti hotel, there were a few smaller mini markets which were more expensive than the big supermarket.
The Question everyone asks-- Would we recommend it???????????????????? It was not what we were looking for. We wanted a smaller, quieter and more greek place. But yes we would recommend Tingaki and Sunny Days Apartments.
about that night at sunny days, i was there and i must say that sunny days hotel has informed all the guest the pool rules, some british joung people do not understand!! the hotel is fab and the pool area a small paradise
Sunny Days Apartment Great! Staff excellent! karaoke Fun! kos island great weather brillieant! shame the holiday has to end!!!
we will come to sunny days again!!!
We stayed at the "Suunt Days" in May this year. We had booked a late deal for this holiday and luckily managed to get a Double bedded Apartment at no extra cost than a "Studio" type room. The apartment was very clean and spacious, with a separate WC/Shower room and Bedroom. The usual “litter" bin was placed next to the toilet, which we recalled from our last visit to the Greek Islands, was for putting your used toilet tissue in. Obviously, Greek sewerage facilities hadn't improved in the 3 years since we last visited! There was a private Balcony overlooking the rear of the apartments and plenty of towels, utensils, etc. provided. The apartment was cleaned on a daily basis. The hot water in our apartment (B13) was non existent! Instead of complain about it, which I suppose we should have done, we put up with cold showers and boiled a pan of water for washing, etc. There is no kettle in the apartments, so if you want to boil water quickly, you need to bring one with you. In place of a kettle is a small saucepan with a pouring lip that's just big enough for about two cups of water. It suffices and boils quite quickly.
The shower did not have a curtain on it. If you find one that does, consider it a bonus as they are not the norm, we were told. The apartment had an air-conditioning unit above the entrance door which didn't appear to work, presumably to encourage you to rent a Hotel fan from reception instead :-) The Safety Deposit box in one of the wardrobes in the bedroom also requires hiring a key for it from reception at a cost of 15euros for a week.
The bedroom in the apartment was adequate with a wardrobe and plenty of drawers for your clothes. A telephone was in the room but I never tried it to see if it was in use. There was one of those recessed in wall Radio's as well but ours didn't work.
Mosquitoes can be a bit of a problem at night. We did get a few bites, but found that a rolled up newspaper was often the best way of dealing with the pests! We also used a plug-in electric repellent device in the bedroom overnight, which we found very effective.
The Hotel has very little in the way of entertainment, but that may be just because it was early in the season. There is a lounge/bar adjoining the reception area with a big screen projection TV playing Greek and English TV.
The Swimming pool is large with a little bridge cutting it in two, which gives an unusual look to the pool. There is also a toddler’s paddling pool. There was a poolside bar and entertainments area which wasn't in use, but possibly would be later in the season.
The hotel is also used by "Alltours" (Germany) and "Sudtours" (Holland) as a destination so don't be surprised to hear a mix of languages around the pool.
