Got back from Kefalos the early hours of Thursday morning after hiring a car for the second time from Trust rentals.
Got back the early hours of Thursday morning from yet another amazing holiday in Kefalos.It was our first time at this hotel as we usually prefer to go self-catering but this was the only property available to us.
The hotel is kept spotlessly clean, with clean bed linen and clean towels every day of the week. Yanni (John) the owner is always on hand for a chat and to make sure that everything about your stay is running smoothly. Tony the barman is a very funny guy with a dry sense of humor and makes you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. Many of the guests had stayed here before so that speaks for itself! The breakfast was usually a bread roll with jam, butter, coffee and juice, Madeira cake and marmalade and one day we had toast! You are not obligated to eat the breakfast and can purchase a full english across the road in Manos for just 5 euros. But we did eat at the hotel some mornings and you wouldnt believe how substantial the breakfast is. Great pool area (with snack bar), great sized rooms, fantastic location to explore Kefalos and it's beautiful bays, nice bar/reception area with great staff thrown in! What more would you want?Yanni and Poppy are a fantastic couple who make some amazing cocktails for just 2.50 euros each! We could'nt believe that they were selling draught Mythos and 1.50 euro a litre!
Yanni and Poppy go out of their way to make sure that you are having a good time and threw many a free shot in too! If you plan on leaving sober then think again lol! At these prices and with the friendly atomosphere they project, it's hard not to get carried away! Thank you Yanni & Poppy! The family who run this taverna have become very good friends of ours over the last two years and we have now adopted them as our "Kefalos family" Try something from the bbq! You will be amazed at how good indoor bbq food tastes, as Pappa (Jack) adds his secret spices to each dish, and you can sit and watch him cook in his clean crisp white shirt! Can highly reccomend the chicken fillet and pork and also the lamb chops. Could'nt believe we had 5 good sized chops each! Or try something from the kitchen, Maria (Mama) does a mean cheese sagankai starter and an amazing kefalos chicken which is cooked in cream, garlic and mushrooms served with fragrant rice, peas, chips or baked potato. Very clean taverna and kitchen can be seen with its gleaming pots and pans. Prodomous the eldest son who runs the Santa Barbara in high season, is one hell of A guy who speaks good english and has a wicked sense of humor! If you pop in there, tell them all that Lisa & Huw from Wales send their love and are looking forward to seeing them all next May.Was very surprised to read the previous comment as we have been to Kefalos three times and have always eaten at Galinis. Try the lamb kleftiko and stuffed vine leaves! They are to die for.
Brilliant service, fantastic welcome (same as the previous year) and good quality food! It seems a shame to class it as fast food because it is a million times better than any burger chain in the UK!
