Just come back after 2 weeks at the Angela 08/04. We had a great holiday and will come back to Kos. Tingaki was the best resort for us- not too mad, more than enough bars and tavernas, and a lovely long beach. The Angela's location was just right - set back from the road, a little way out from the centre. Cleanliness was reasonable, but they only supplied 1 loo roll (between 2 for 2 weeks!!!!) so you have to buy some! There's a big supermarket just up the road. It was fairly quiet, except when new guests arrive at dawn, shouting and dragging their cases up the steps. It all echoes and everyone has their windows open, so if you are going....please have a bit of consideration when you arrive!
Memories was a really nice bar. We tended to go there a lot and the music was good. The 3 brothers who run it are really friendly and made us feel very welcome....they even taught us some Greek! We'd reccommend it!!!
Tigaki beach is very good- long with fine white sand, gently sloping into a warm, clear blue sea. The breeze is pleasant as it takes the heat away a bit, but it can get a little strong at times! We tended to walk to the left along the beach, away from the sweaty sunbeds and get away from the crowds. Especially good if you want an all-over tan!!
Greek Night in Zia was fantastic! The village of Zia is very picturesque, and the views out over the islands along with the sunset is gorgeous. The venue of Fantasia Taverna is great and the whole evening, with live music, dancing and food (not to mention the endless jugs of wine) was unforgettable! Not bad for 29 euros. Not to be missed!
We hired a brand new Fiat Panda with air con for 2 days and went all over the island. It was excellent to drive, very positive gear change and very roomy. Would reccomend it to anyone as it was only 40 euro a day from Visma Tours. (Very helpful people there)
We found the staff at the Meni overbearing and patronising. The food was ok, but we had to wait ages for the bill when we'd asked for it. The little snack bar opposite was far better, friendlier and the glasses were kept in the freezer, making the Amstel really cold! Prices good there too.
Great for cooked breakfasts. Good for evening meals...they get busy in the evening so be prepared to wait your turn! The owner has a great sense of humour!
We went to the Dana a couple of times, but didn't feel like eating too much and we totally messed up their serving system! They didn't seem to like the fact that we only had starters and puds (& drinks). They made us feel a bit inferior, but surely our money is as good as any?
To Gee:re Saturday night accommodation at the Angela. You can stay on till 7pm in your room for 15Euro, or till 11pm for 35Euro. Pay the owner in room 1.We found it well worth it to stay till 11, then you can have a 'proper' last day!Hope you have a good time!
Just come back from Tingaki (again) and tried Andreas Taverna this time....brilliant! The food was beautifully cooked, delicious and very good value. The service was friendly and we couldn't understand why the place wasn't packed! Lets hope this makes a difference!
Just returned from Tingaki last week. We had a couple of meals at the Andreas and they were lovely! Their lemon sole was beautiful, the service was good and they gave us free watermelon. Very good value for money.
Got back from Kos last week. We had a great stay at the Oasis....it's just far enough out of the town at the end of a road, so no passing traffic...but not too far to walk to the restaurants etc. There are fields all around and you get woken by cows and chickens! The pool area is very nice with a good snack bar and everyone is really friendly. We'd go there again. Hire a bike to get to the beach (and your bottled water) quickly! They were brilliant. The photos are a view of the sunset from our balcony and the path to the pool.
