We returned from Mayflower apartments, Tingaki this morning (4.6.04). My wife, 2 children and I loved the holiday so much we are returning again this October for 2 weeks. Ellia, Christos and all the other staff at Mayflower are absolutely wonderful! We were made so welcome from the time we arrived we felt like we had been there forever.
The children lived in the fantastic pool and say it was their best holiday ever.
Resturants in the town were all quite average with good, bad and indifferent meals at most of them, depending on what you ordered. After some trial and error we found The Meni best for quality. Saggitarius was by far the worst in our experience with 2 out of 4 meals un-edible and no reaction from the staff on complaining. Tingaki grill was OK but some of the food was served cold. The resturant to the left of the fountain was also quite good. Most meals for 2 adults, 2 children with starters and drinks cost around 50 euro.
Our recommendation - All the snacks served at The Mayflower were excellent especially the Wednesday evening BBQ, great value for money!
We only did two excursions booked via Tingaki Express. The 3 island cruise we thoroughly enjoyed and will do again. The visit to Zia, the sunset village, well worth spaending a few hours. The first resturant on the left entering the village of Zia was quite poor, try a different one.
This was our first visit to Kos but definately not our last. We agree with Martin and Janice, a Lotto win would buy you paradise here for the rest of your days!
The Mayflower Apartments are being upgraded for the 2005 season and will be bookable through Thompson holidays. An oven and toaster are on the list of additions. There are some apartments available directly through Christos. All apartments are of a good standard, very clean and spacious so any improvements will make them excellent.
If you need more info leave a message and we will try to help.
We visited Saggitarius for breakfast on our first morning because it was closest to The Mayflower. The breakfast was good. We decided to try an evening meal . My wife ordered lasagne which was just awful. My daughter had jacket poatoes which were hard and uncooked. I had veal and baby onions hich was ok but much more onion than veal! My son had Spaghetti Bolagnaise which was dry and only enough to feed a 2 year old. By far the worst food and service of the whole week!!!!
Just got back from Tingaki with my family. Stayed 1 week at The Mayflower Apartments. Mayflower is excellent , great staff, wonderful pool, nice rooms and good snacks to see you through he day. This was our first trip to Kos but we have just re-booked for 2 weeks in October. Tingaki is a lovely place to stay. Great beach, nice bars resturants and good mix of family groups and older people. No nightclubs or disco. Really relaxing. Would recommend for family hols. See you there!
CASH MACHINES- There are several cash machines in Kos - One was at the entrance to Tingaki Tours office. Hope this helps.
Hi, just returned from second trip to Kos this year. We really enjoyed our evenings at KIBOTOS, ARC CAFE. If you do visit say hi to Theo and try a shot of Cuervo Tiquilla. As Christos says " It gives you energy" Yamas everyone.Look forward to returning next summer.
Just returned from 2 weeks in Tingaki. Weather was excellent but the locals will tell you this was the best October for about 10 years!
The only thing that spoils an October visit is the fact that many of the cafes and resturants close down even before many of the visitors have gone which gives the impression that they don't want your custom. It would be much better if they ALL stayed open until the last day of October otherwise people will just stop going in the October half term. Tingaki was like a ghost town the day before we left and there were some people staying three days after us! May and Sept are by far the best times to visit.
We thought this evening was well below par. The food was ok. The wine was awful. Everything about the evening was rushed. I admit the dancers were good and looked great in their costumes and some of the music was ok bur far too loud to appreciate. There were many Greek people at our eveing. They were served different food and also stayed on well after we had left. Poor value for money in our opinion.
Just enjoyed our second stay at the Mayflower this year. Luckily we booked privately with Christos. Airtours in spite, closed them down early because Mayflower is moving to the Thompson brochure next year. Anyone who was supposed to be staying here in October were apparently told that the owners closed early but that was not the truth. The owners have lost thousands of euro due to Airtours and I for one will never use Scare-tours again! We even had a visit from a family who were moved to Helios and came to look at the Mayflower. They were bitterly disappointed at being moved and were not at all impressed with the Helios. I would like to wish Costos, Elliah, Zoe and Christos every success with Thompson next season. Thanks for a wonderful holiday. We will be back! XXXX
Take a look in the new 2006 Thompson brochure for Mayflower. Prices appear to be comparable to this year. As far as I can tell the upgrades for next year will be oven, toaster and air-conditioning.
See you all next year!
Visted Camell for the first time this October. Obviously it was very quiet but the swimming and snorkling was great. Well worth a visit.
We have visited just about every resturant in Tingaki and we think that this one rates as one of the best. Tony and George are great fun, but don't believe a word Tony says! He has a wicked sense of humour. 9 out of 10 meals were excellent and prices about average. A complimentary glass of something other than fruit juice and grenadine would be a welcome change! Definately recommended!
We had our best meals in Tingaki here. A little more expensive but well worth it. We also had a complimentary drink which was a generous measure of anything you fancied. YAMAS! to the staff.
Make sure you visit Spyros and say hi to Stamatis. He's one of the friendliest people in Tingaki. The food here is just great and good prices too! Not to be missed! See you next year YAMAS!
We had our October holiday spoiled because Airtours closed the Mayflower Hotel early. Thank goodness Mayflower will be flying the Thompson flag next year! Good riddens to Scare-Tours!
Visited Meni again this October. Quality still as good as before and staff excellent. Recommended!
A wonderful resterant with a great selection of traditional dishes. A big hello to Stamatis and everyone at Espyros. See you all next year.
