We stayed in Kos Town, but went to Kardamena in the day in the car to see what it was like, because we were going to go there one night. We parked up and had a wander. First impressions were that Kardamena was a dump! We didn't bother going back to check out the night life, because we were so put off. There were about 30 people waiting outside the medical centre which was a bit worrying. We did walk along the harbour though which was lovely. Went in a really good restaurant by the harbour called Loustros which was nice. Wouldn't recommend Kardamena to anyone, but I have been told that the night life is actually really good and I suppose that if that's all you were going for it would probably be ok.
We drove here from Kos Town where we were staying and it was only a few minutes along the coastal road. Nice beach with lovely clear water.
We stayed in Kos Town (which was lovely), but drove to Kefalos in the car that we hired. It was Sunday and was VERY quiet. Didn't seem to be anyone about apart from lots of old Greek me. It was a very Greek town - walked around nice little back streets. Nice views as you are driving in to Kefalos.
Zia was one of the nicest places we visited during our stay in Kos town. We hired a car and drove here one night. Very scary mountain roads to drive up to get there, but well worth it. Everyone stood along a big wall on the edge of the mountain and looked out at the sunset across the sea. You could also sit and watch it from the roof terraces in the restaurants. All seemed to have the tables set out so that you can see the view. One of the best meals we had was in a restaurant in Zia. Lots of nice little shops to look around as well. Not very many places to park though if you are driving so best to get there fairly early. A Greek wedding was taking place the night that we went, which may of made it slightly busier.
Very very hectic and very hot! We booked this trip up on the harbour and it only cost 14 Euros. We went to Turkey on Tuesday (market day) on the Kalymnos Express which claimed to get to Turkey in 20 minutes - it actually took just over an hour. All the other boats were speeding past us. The harbour in Turkey was really really nice. All lined with palm trees with camels walking up and down. We went for breakfast as soon as we arrived in a restaurant that looked very nice. We paid nearly 20 Euros for two English breakfasts which were awful. Walked to the market (which is up next to the bus station) and it was a nightmare. It was really busy, couldn't hardly move and was really worried about getting lost. Lot's of nice spices, etc if you like that kind of thing. The market only really sold bags, leather belts & Wallets, table cloths, jewellery and clothes (fake designer) and once you'd seen one stall you'd seen them all really. Everything is really cheap. I bought three handbags for 10 Euros and you could buy five for £10. Turkey will except the English Pound, Turkish Lira (there are lot's of places to exchange money) and Euros. They seemed to like the pound best and everything is cheaper if you pay with English money. You could buy 6 t-shirts for £10! We found a shop which sold copy CD's and DVD's. CD's were 5 Euros and DVD's were 9 Euros. Good quality and work perfectly in England.
We had about 5 hours in Turkey which was long enough. We were just starting to get bored.
All there really is to do in Bodrum is shop. I love shopping, but even I found it a bit much and my boyfriend hated the busy market.
It was good to have been to Turkey and we were glad we went, even just so we can say that we've been!
Drove to Old Pyli from Kos Town. When you get to Pyli you think theres nothing there, but you can park at the bottom and walk up LOTS of steps up a hill to some really interesting ruins, like old churches etc. It was a fair walk, but worth it. My ears were ringing when we left, because there are so many noisy bugs in the trees! There is a small restaurant near the top, but we didn't go in. Worth a visit.
We went to Kos on the 19th August and it was very hot, but bearable most days because of a breeze. Sometimes it got quite chilly in the evenings when it was windy.
We stayed in Kos Town which was lovely. Wasn't too busy - just right.
We loved Kos. Stayed in Kos Town which was really nice. The harbour was gorgeous, especiallyat night when it was all lit up. Lot's of really nice restaurants. Oasis was one of our favourites. We stayed in Ideal Apartments in Lampi, just outside of Kos Town. It took us about 30 minutes to get to the town. It was a nice walk though down a straight tree lined road and along the sea front. There was a bus which stopped just down the road. We didn't use it, but it seemed regular. The apartments were nice. Basic, but clean. Our room was really big. There was only two of us and we had four single beds! The cleaner came everyday except Sunday. The hotel was family run and they all seemed nice. They had entertainment a few nights - BBQ, quiz and Bingo. We didn't go to any of it, but lots of people did. Lot's of kids arrived on the day that we left and the pool got very busy, but it was ok until then. We got home yesterday and didn't want to leave Kos. We didn't stay much around the hotel in the day. Hired a car for two days, which was very reasonably priced, and travelled the whole island. We hired mountain bikes for one day which was a bargain at two Euros. The beach in Kos Town was ok, but we're aren't ones for lounging in the sun anyway and were off exploring most of the time. I've never been bitten by mosquitos before, but ended up with about 20 bites on my legs during this holiday! I would say that Kos is definitely a place to go for couples. The are two clubs in Kos Town - Heaven & Fashion. Fashion was very Greek. None of the bars or clubs ever seemed very busy. It was nice just to go for a drink and a meal at night, down by the harbour. There was a beach party at Tarzan Beach Bar with fireworks, etc.
Lot's to see and do in Kos - would definitely recommend it.
