In reply to Josie. We too are travelling to Mastihari on June 17. Best Taverna;- El Greco, very friendly and the food is excellent, best bar has got to be the Number One bar practically next door. Went with Greycat last year and couldn't fault it. Going with Manos this time 'cos we need the air conditioning! Gets very hot. You'll have a great time, hope to see you there.
Stayed in the Karadonis in 2002. We had a one bedroom appartment which was very spacious and cool. The kitchen area was a bit on the sparce side, but that was ok for us as we didn't intend to cook. The room was cleaned every day and regular linin changes. Only a few minutes walk to the beach which is lovely.
I have travelled to Kos twice with Manos and am going again this year. I have always found them more than helpfull and the service first class, even when we had a 3 hour delay at the airport the rep stayed with us.
We enjoyed it although the coach ride up the mountain from Kardemena to Pyli was a bit hairy, very winding narrow road with huge pot-holes that have been there since the war! Zia was fantastic, great shops and a view to die for. Would recomend it.
Would have been quite a good night but it was too crowded, our party got split up because there wern't enough seats and the food was dissapointing. Some young people got very drunk and spoilt the rest of the evening. The band and dancers were very good however. It wasn't cheap and I would not go again.
This years resort rep for Mastihari is not very helpful, only saw him once at the welcome meeting where I complained about being stranded at our accomadation in the middle of the night with the wrong details and no key. His reply was "oh well, someone messed up!" Thank goodness for the locals who helped us out.
Just back from another great week this time staying at the Luis, after our initial problems (see Manos) everything was great. As a regular visitor I am quite sad to see that Mastihari is growing but still retains it's charm and friendly laid back manor. The best place to eat is still El Greco, the food is very good, lots of it, frienly service and not in your face. Didn't like the Tasty Palace, more exspensive, poor guality and even worse service. Try a coffee after dinner in the Horizon bar, right on the beach, fab!
We stayed in a an appartment and must say that it was great. The maid Maria went out of her way to be helpfull. The air-con is just 3euro per day and is realy worth it if the weather gets into the 30's. The rooms are cleaned every day except Sunday and there are lots of towels. It's a couple of minutes walk to the beach down a little path or 5 mins down the road. I would definatly stay here again. Be warned, the Manos rep this year is not very good, and we ended up stranded with the wrong room details and no key at night, so make sure that you are let into your room and that they put the power on.
For Kayleigh,
As far as I know, the only company with a rep in Mastihari is Manos.
