We were looking at the menu when a member of the staff came out to greet us. After reading the comments on this site prior to our holiay we decided that we would like to eat there. After being seated by the member of staff we waited for him to bring us a menu, but after waiting for about 10 minutes, during which time no member of staff appeared in order for us to ask for a menu, we left and decided not to go back to be ignored again.
Just returned from our first visit to Kos and have had an absolutely fabulous week. The weather was fantastic. Re the comment about lots of places closing down, you can't blame them really - they've worked their socks off for six months, then due to the lack of people around its not worth their while opening for about ten customers. Thank you to those in Kos Town who did stay open for the duration, especially to the staff at Kwotas Grill, definitely the largest portions we have ever had in Greece and wonderful hospitality! Would advise anyone going at this time of year who intends to visit Turkey, do this at the beginning of the week as the boat trip is more expensive from Wednesday onwards, port charges etc still have to be paid and there were only about 12 people on our boat. To all working for the visitors to Kos, may I wish you all a very restful winter and hope to be able to come again this time next year.
Thanks you to all at the Nicon for helping to make our first visit to the island so enjoyable. Lovely spacious, clean, well-equipped studio apartment - even had a shower curtain! Would definitely love to return at this time next year.
We went on October 20th which cost 24€ with no mini bus trip due to the fact that not many people were travelling then, up to the day before the fare was 11€ including the mini bus trip. We still went on the trip as it was still half the price Thomsons wee charging. Thoroughly enjoyed our day, bought t shirts and watches, really cheap but beware don't expect to go just to browse, those Turks will really give you earache!!
Traelled with Thomson to Nicon Apartments in Kos Town last October,
half-term week Loved it so much we booked again for this year despite a
major price hike. Received letter from Thomson this week changing
our flight from Thursday from Manchester to Saturday from Birmingham -
Thomson not willing to meet extra expense incurred. On checking
the brochure, flight supplements from Birmingham are less than
Manchester but we were invoiced for the same balance as for
Manchester. Our relatives are very good, giving us a 15 mile lift
to the airport at Manchester but cannot expect them to do 2 x 200 mile
round trips to Birmingham airport so have had to cancel, going to
Kefalonia now instead but we were so looking forward to Kos. Big
thumbs down for Thomson at the mo from us I'm afraid.
We had booked to return to Nicon this October after visiting at the
same time last year. Unfortunately Thomson have cancelled our
flight from Manchester and expect us to fly from Birmingham instead but
are not willing to transport us there (this would involve at least a
200 mile round trip for us with terrible flight times). So sorry Spiros
and family, we have had to cancel as probably will a few other people
who were to fly from Manchester. Will have to see what happens
next year.
Sounds like the weather spoiled the October holidays to be fair rather
than the Nicon. If you were cold, air con units can be adjusted
to provide heat as well as cooling the air in summer. This type
of weather is unusual in Kos so the buildings aren't usually built to
withstand it. When we went at the same time last year the weather
was wonderful and the area captured a lot of sunshine, so I do think
that unfortunately you were very unlucky.
Air conditioning payable locally is detailed in the brochure and on
Thomson's website. Hotel phones iin the UK are also always a rip
off. It was said that I should see more of the world, well if you
had travelled more you would have known that phonecards are the most
economical way to make phone calls from abroad, this is basic
information known by most people once they have travelled abroad for
the first time.
Does anyone please know how much it would cost for a taxi from the airport to Nefeli? Thanks.
My husband Paul and I were first timers here from 19th to 26th October and we'll definitely return. The hotel is located in a quiet location about 10 mins stroll from the village and a further 20 mins to Kos Town.We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, the breakfast was buffet style continental, as we don't usually have more than cereal at home this suited us just fine. If you were feeling hungry you could order a cooked breakfast at a reasonable price. Our room was clean and comfortable - slept really well every night - or maybe that was the ouzo! The swimming pool is lovely but was very cold, but given the time of the year you'd expect that. We usually go out and about for our meals, visiting a different restaurant each night but stayed here for our evening meal on 3 occasions as the food was delicious and very good value . The hotel is family run and what a lovely family they are, welcoming, friendly and will do anything for you, Wilma who works behind the bar is great fun and does a brill Nefeli Special cocktail. The other guests we met had all stayed at the Nefeli before and were lovely too - Sandra and Trevor - wishing you all the very best in your new life in Kos, please post a message when you can to let us know how you're getting on. Elaine and Adrian - lovely to meet you both, hope you'll be there next time we come. And last but by no means least Jean and Ian, you were lots of fun and great company - even for Saints supporters (where's the pies?) If you're looking for a relaxing holiday with good company, the Nefeli is definitely for you.
Loved it so much we've just booked to come again same time this year. Can't wait!
