Accommodation adequate (tho' would have liked a double bed) - we wouldn't have gone self-catering in Greece if we were looking for luxury. However, the Studio did not appear to have been cleaned when we arrived, the floor was dirty (and didn't improve whilst we were there) and we had to defrost the fridge before we could get anything in the ice box, although we were glad we did as there was a 12-hour power cut in Kefalos and would otherwise have had a flood. Another time I think I would look for accommodation where the owners live on site and have more of an incentive in taking pride in keeping things clean. Otherwise the location is good, nice and quiet - although I think this is dependent on all guests valuing the peace.
Ok on inward journey ... However, on the way back .... flight delayed eight hours (not fault of the airport) - 11pm to 8am - at least this was not in the heat of the day! However we had no info, not enough seats, mayhem queues, power cut causing hold ups in scanning baggage, inadequate refreshments: Glad to get back to the UK.
Great little car for short journeys - tho' ground clearance is low - so don't venture off the tarmac (which is hard to avoid at times)!!
Just to be different ... Zia over-developed and over-crowded ... too many souvenir shops with the same stuff. Better views/sunsets if you hire a jeep and go to the south west corner of the island towards Agios Iannis. Or go 'off road' down hill from Zia towards Asklepeion ...
Yes .. I agree its cheaper to book this excursion locally, rather than through rep. Definitely worth going - tho' didn't enjoy the compulsory photo shoot with the bored-looking girl in greek costume! Food OK (seeing they were catering for such a large number) - wine .. drinkable (just)- It was great to share the evening with a large party of Greek pensioners from the mainland, which made it feel more authentic, rather than just for the (mainly) Brits.
