After seeing the worst apartments that Greece has to offer on
previous holidays we were pleasantly surprised to find a large
clean apartment with 3 balconies, decent size bedroom and two
comfortable sofas in the living area. The kitchen wasn't very well
equipped but perfectly adequate for our needs. It's only a couple
of minutes walk from all the action but far enough away so
there's not really much noise from outside. Unfortunately there's
a lot of noise from the other apartments in the building as I think
the walls are made of paper. The shower is extremely powerful
and if you're not careful will soak everything in sight as there's no
shower curtain. Alltogether a great, comfortable apartment that I
would recommend to anyone.
This was our first meal in Kardamena and it was lovely. We had
all Greek food - Prawn Saganaki, Kleftiko, Soutzoukakia and we
loved it all. For desert I had the creamiest greek youghurt with
honey and nuts and we also ordered Baklava. They didn't have
any so the waiter jumped on his moped and went to get some
for us - great service or what! It was really cheap and I would
definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great restaurant - the food was lovely (we ate all Greek) and 3 of
us had 3 courses with lots of wine and it barely came to 50
euros.
Really nice restaurant with pretty courtyard. We sat out by the well
and had a beautifull meal. It's hidden off the street from the Louis
supermarket down to the beach and well worth a visit. No more
expensive than any other restaurant in Kardamena and the
Australian lady is a pleasure to alk to - she seems to know
everything about the island.
This was the only restaurant we went to more than once. You
expect places on the beach to be awful but this was lovely. Not
expensive in the slightest - 3 courses with wine for 4 people was
less than £70 euros. They let us stay till we were ready to leave
even though it was empty and they were all ready to leave. We all
had greek food and I'd recommend the soutzoukakia and kleftico
Zia is lovely and it's only about 10 mins in a taxi from Tingaki. I
was there last week and went up to Zia for dinner. The best
restaurant, in my opinion, is the one with the terrace right at the
edge of Zia so you have an uninterrupted view of the sunset.
Plus the food is pretty good and not expensive. You have to ask
the restaurant to book you a taxi back and it sometimes takes a
while which is good because you can have a look around the
shops. The little jewellry shop is my favourite and I've bought
something in there everytime I've been to Zia. Long comment but
Zia is my favourite place in Kos!
People are probably going to hate me for saying this but I would
never go back to Kardamena. There are so many much nicer
resorts to go to in Greece. Yeah, the nightlife's good but the
place looks like a building site and the beach is appalling - a tiny
strip of pebbly sand with about 1000 sunbeds crammed onto it.
There are some surprisingly good restaurants there though -
Avli, Ariadne, Papagalo's(not the fast food one) Andreas but it
really puts me off when I see a McDonalds and people actually
eating there when Greek food is so tasty and so cheap. Basically
it's just rough and if you're any older than 21 and want to do more
than just get drunk and throw up you'd be better off going
elsewhere on Kos.
This is to Amy and Sarah - Con's not going to be at the Mascot
Bar this summer if you were looking forward to seeing him.
Hi Amy n Sarah
I kept in touch with one of the guys called Con who's been at the
Mascot bar every summer for the last few years. Last year he
was the comedian and his cousin, also called Con, was the
barman. As far as I know neither of them are there this summer
but I might be wrong.
