fair walk out of town, but been further! people very friendly, Diamond and Lily will make you welcome, as will Mary and Sakis, who virtually run the bar........Greek night is not to be missed, Yannis the dancer is a great laugh...and you ALL join in! Bar prices are ok, there is a small supermarket only 50 yards away if you're on a budget though, but you're on holiday....what the heck.
good value, little bit above average prices, but worth it.......aussie run, so don't expect truly greek food, although most greek dishes are on the menu. back to back with shenannigans irish bar
can't believe this place only gets 4 out of ten.......food is great, try the broadway mixed grill........or any dish on the menu, I have tried nearly all of them, (been going to Kos for 12 years now), and this is probably one of the best restaurants in Kos. Costas (head chef, and owner) has cooked for Onassis, say no more.......
up there with the better places to stay, very good welcome from the owners, Poppy and Makis, good food and cocktails (especially the cocktails!) I had an injured knee when we stayed there last year, would have appreciated not being on the third floor....but it was very nice anyway.....you'll like staying here, just a short walk to the harbour, or the beach, new supermarket open opposite as well for self caterers. enjoy.
this place can become addictive......be warned!
been through the menu many times over (been to kos for ten years now, often twice a year) the food is excellent, and very competitively priced. Yanni and Sam will become good friends to you, but watch your bill....you won't pay as much as you think! Going June 2nd this year...so I'll get TWO Sunday lunches in this time!
for angie hewitt..........kallys apartments are on megaloy alexandrou street, about 5 mins. walk from the harbour (dolphin square). It is a very nice place to stay, can be a bit noisy from traffic at times, as it is one of the main routes out of town. It has one of the best restaurants on the island, the owner, Costas is a top chef (has also cooked for Onassis!), and having been there many times over the years, can say it is my favourite place to eat. (you'll find most of the tour reps eat there too!)
There are only about 8 apartments in the building, I prefer to have one at the back of the building, as the traffic noise late at night can be a nuisance, but you get that everywhere I suppose?
Should you go there before you read this, please say hello to Kally and the boys, tell them what you have read, and say hello from john and Christine and little Michael, from Wales.
Good luck.and watch out for Tony Ainsworth.......read his comments also, lots of info there!
this a spelling contest tony?.......
First stayed at Kallys in 1992, been back there a few times since, and it's still the same. Excellent hosts, Kally (real name is Poppy, I think?) and husband Costas. The apartments are on Megalou Alexandrou, about 5 mins. walk from Dolphin Squre, on the harbour, and there is a short cut to the top of the old town directly opposite. The restaurant below the apartment rooms is (I reckon) one of the best to be found in Kos. I have never been disappointed by any of the meals there, having been through the menu on many occasions. In fact on one 2 week holiday there, I don't think I ate anywhere else! You'll find that most tour reps eat there as well, so that must say something. The apartments themselves are very nice, although basic, as in most Greek places, the only drawback is the traffic noise at times, it being situated on one of the main routes out of town, but then you can't have everything? I look forward to returning to Kallys soon, kinda miss the place........
very nice and well run hotel, good pool, good service and snacks. it is about 15 mins. liesurely stroll to the town centre, being situated on the psalidi side of town, about 5 mins walk from the marina. (if you know where Kos hotel is, it's up the side road to the main road!). very comfortable lounge bar, (armchairs and sofas), a lift to 1st and 2nd floors, and a place I would definately like to stay again.

This was our third or fourth visit to Lydias, and I have to say, one of our more enjoyable. There was only one other group of British there, all the other apartments were taken by Dutch families. The big difference this time was that there was hardly anyone around the pool or the bar, day or night, which meant the atmosphere was non existent remembering the lively times to be had when Mary and Sakis were there...Greek nights, Barbecue nights etc., when everyone had a good time. From my observations, the Dutch were early risers, off on their bikes around 9 am, back around 5, stayed in their rooms and went to bed at 10 with a book. At least the only advantage was it was very peaceful at night, no banging doors at 2 am, etc.. but then again, it's a holiday complex!. We were happy to stay there again, and would have no hesitation staying there again, I just wish there were more Brits there to have a drink with in the evenings, instead of going to Bahamas hotel just down the road (Mary works there by the way) or into town. We Were in block number 4, which I am led to believe is the best of the blocks, the newest built, and I have no complaints about the standard of accommodation, or the room service. The maids were around every day, anything needed changing was changed. floors cleaned daily, no complaints. So, finally, if you want a relaxing, quiet holiday, have a look at this place.
