My boyfriend and i are just back from two weeks at oasis. Our room was cleaned at least 8 times in 14 days, so no complaints there! the apartments are very basic, as we expected. (you get what you pay for eh!) Quite a walk away from everything but for 6euro a taxi will take you right into the middle of town. Owner Nikos and his family are lovely, the bike hire man is a cracker, and our rep, Ben, was really helpful. Kos is gorgeous and there is plenty to do. There's the usual pubbing and clubbing on the harbour, but if you work your way back a few streets into the old town, you'll find cheaper and quieter taveras to eat in. Oasis was a good place to touch base on our holiday, the bar is fine if you don't fancy venturing out and there's a mini market for essentials (cheaper in town though, as Nikos will tell you!) Pool very clean and plenty of sunloungers. basketball area and kids playground, didnt use either, but they are there! Nice enough for a basic place to sleep. Only noise is a cockerel and the other folk staying there.
Kos airport was a nightmare. Absolutely tiny, and dont expect any help from the staff regarding your flight. (i know nuffink!! wait for hannouncement!!) Weirdo check in set up, very disorganised. just as well my holiday was brilliant!!
No probs boarding the flight at Glasgow airport, flight was fine. Tiny wee plane though, nightmare for us leggy folk! When we got off in Kos barn, sorry, airport, we waited about an hour and a half on the coach with no air conditioning, or any information from the reps, absolutely knackered. Switching the fans on or telling us what was happening would have been appreciated. Throughought our holiday we had Ben Pope as a rep, lovely guy, easy to get on with, always about and willing to help. Some of the trips leave alot to be desired. nissyros was fantastic, once in a lifetime. Turkey was horrible, hated the place (not olympics fault obviously!). The meal was fine, although we got sat with someone random which killed conversation between me and my boyfriend, the wine was ridiculously diluted so we tried to drink as many half pints of beer as possible. youre only there for about an hour though. Turkey was not worth the money. Greek night was good (wine undiluted!!). Lazy day cruise was.... ok. I suppose. Having Ben as a rep made up for most of it. Pretty average as a tour operator.
I got in for free, my boyfriend had to pay 10 euros. Drinks were hideously expensive, but measures were massive. Due to this i ended up dancing on a podium even though the music was s***. No atmosphere. Don't bother going.
only good bit was the hydrofoil on the way over. men sleezy and always staring or leering. felt like we were having the p**s ripped out of us by waiters when we went for lunch. wouldnt let us leave! looky lookies outside bars very pushy. dinner ok, stuck at a table with a stranger, so killed my boyfriend and i's talking! wouldnt have minded if it was another couple!! wine heavily diluted. thought it was crap. will never ever ever go back.
Good night. food was lovely and the wine was undiluted thank god!! Sunset gorgeous. Sat with a nice couple but tables for two are available!!!
Booked it through Olympic, great day. The little village at the top of nysiros is like the one in the olivio adverts! kostas the gide was brilliant, very informative, always keeping you in the shade where possible, not pushy in any way. Volcano was cool, stank of sulphur though! thoroughly enjoyed it, once in a lifetime.
Very quiet. 6euro taxi into kos town. Thats about it i think!!
JULIE- Were just back from oasis apartments and its 6euros for a taxi into town. its about a 40min walk (if you dont get lost).
went from end of june till 10th july. it was getting much hotter in our last few days so probably not good for families. also started filling up with groups of noisy, mouthy girl groups. id probably spend the extra money next time and go to a hotel the groups of t**ts cant afford!!!
