We came across Sebastians on the second night of our two week stay . . . and went back at least nine times afterwards! The staff were all so friendly, making us feel right at home, especially Tony, one of the finest waiters you'll ever meet. Just ask for the White Snapper fish, a treat in itself, and ask him to fillet it for you, he'll do it right there in front of you and it's so impressive to watch! The menu is extensive, there's a massive range of choice that should satisfy everyone, and the wine list is good too, we particularly liked Caviros White. Without doubt, the best place to eat in Kefalos, we wish we were still there!!!
Actually stayed in Kefalos but had the misfortune to go to Kardamena for one night. Oh dear is all I can say. If you want to be a typical Brit abroad then fine but I'm afraid the only thing Greek about Kardamena is the weather. Can't even say it's 'Club 18-30,s', we had some friends who stayed there who said it was more like 'Club 10-15's'. However, if all you want is to go clubbing and eat fish and chips, then this is the place for you!
As the other people have said, it's much better to arrange the trip at the harbour than through your rep. I'd say go for the hydrofoil, it's only 2 Euros more expensive and takes less than half the time. One thing that people haven't mentioned is the Turkish bath. It's a definite must do but not for the faint hearted! The bath itself is the most relaxing experince you'll ever have . . . but the car trip there and back will quite possibly have you crapping yourself (to put it bluntly!) It has to be said, Turkish drivers have to be the most impatient people in the world!
In general we don't like to do the touristy thing, so the thought of being surrounded by about 200 other Brits on holiday didn't really appeal. However, if you want to go on the Greek night at Zia, this is what you have to expect, and we really enjoyed it! There's a two course meal, wine on tap all night, just keep going and filling your jug from the barrel, and there's a live Greek band (you should see the guy playing Zorba the Greek, you'd swear he was faking it!) and Greek dancers in traditional costume. They encourage everyone to get on the stage and dance with them, something we never thought we'd do, but the music is that infectious, you really can't help yourself! At the end of the night, one of the dancers grabs someone out of the crowd and, shall we say, dances with them in a very unique way, I won't tell you how cos it'll ruin the surprise if it happens to you. It happened to me, and I'll never forget it for as long as I live! All I'll say is "Ladies, to improve your chances of sharing this unique 'dancing' experience, wear a short skirt!!!!!"
