The apartments are situated in the main street of Tingaki with the tavernas, bars and tourist shops. The beach is about a 6-7 min easy walk away. The apartments are spotless and cleaned every day. The bedding was only changed once a week which was a shame with it being August and extremely hot. We were lucky to have had a room overlooking the pool which is absolutely stunning. There is a small pool suitable for toddlers and a larger pool which has a shallow end. The pool did close at 6pm which is unfortunate but that is the owners rules. There is a poolside bar serving hot and cold drinks and snacks at very reasonable prices. The owner can come across as being miserable although i don't think its intentional. His daughters work there and they speak very good english and are very helpful. There is no air conditioning here but you can rent fans at 11 euros a week. It is fairly quiet here with no disturbance from the main street, the only nuisance was the cockerel early in the morning!
This place is lovely, the owner Phassilis is very friendly. Take a seat here and be waited on. Pool table for the children which is free, internet 3 euros for one hour and televisions each side showing many live matches. In the afternoons they put on recent and new films for the kids. English chart music is played. It has a friendly atmosphere, popular with families. It is not the sort of place were you sit around the bar and get drunk.
Tigaki beach is beautiful, lovely sand and crystal clear water which you can walk out quite far being perfect for small children. Plenty of watersports available, sunbeds and parasols 5-6 euros all day. The wind did pick up in the afternoons making big waves.
We booked this trip as with others at Theokritos travel in Tingaki. It cost 25 euros for adults and kids half price. The price included the coach from the harbour to the volcano. The ride up to the volcano is a bit scary, the road is only wide enough for the coach and very windey(not for the faint hearted!) When we got out of the coach the immediate smell of rotten eggs hit us(sulphur). We thought the volcano was a very educational experience for ourselves and our children. There is a small shop at the top selling drinks, ice-creams and souveniers.
Tingaki is simply beautiful. Everything you need in one street. Beach is stunning. Bus runs regularly into Kos town. We went in August and it was very hot, although the afternoon breeze is a godsend. We hired 2 quad bikes from Nikos bikes for 45 euros and managed to do the island of kos on our own. The kids enjoyed riding around the salt lake in Tingaki and over the sand dines. There are plenty of resturants to choose from. We did read that due to the salt lake mozzies were a problem, although we were lucky not to have been bitten. We did go prepared and made sure we were protected when the sun went down. However we did see some people with some very nasty bites, so make sure you go prepared. Riding along the road beside the beach late evening on our quads we could feel the mozzies hitting us!
