We have just come back from the Oasis Tingaki. We have been there before, but unfortunately it wasn't as good as last year. The apartment block was the older one and shaded by the palm trees, but the room was dirty when we arrived and we had to spend an hour cleaning!! Take a pack of disinfectant wipes like we did! 'Cleaning' was intermitent and when they did come in they only emptied the bins, folded the sheets and rearranged the dirt. Sheets and towels were changed twice while we were there, but the last time they changed the sheets was 2 days before we left! Also, even though we were supposed to have the room till 12pm on the day we left, the maid banged on the door at 9.45am wanting to do the room. We won't be going back to Kos next year, even though we love it......time for pastures new!
We came back from Tingaki last week and this is one of the best places to eat/drink there. It's great for snacks and bigger meals, especially the fab gyros pitta, which is fresh every day. It's a very friendly place and Mihalis, his dad and the guys offer a great service. We went in most days after the beach and by the time we had parked our bikes, they had our beers in iced glasses on the table! Impressive!! Thanks Mihalis for making us feel so welcome!
This is such a fab trip! From the boat trip to the walk round the town, to the volcano! Our Olympic guide Costas was brilliant and full of knowledge. The island is a fantastic place and full of history. The village of Emporia where only 14 people live was amazing, but also quite sad. The volcano is very interesting and still steaming and smelly! The crater is huge, but wear sensible shoes cos it's a bit tricky to to get down in the crater. As our trip didn't start till 11.30am we were treated to a glorius sunset from the boat on the way back.....everyone was transfixed. Magical!!
Tigaki beach is very good -one of the best in Kos with long with fine white sand, gently sloping into a warm, clear blue sea. The breeze is pleasant as it takes the heat away a bit, but it can get a little strong at times! We tended to walk to the left along the beach, away from the sweaty sunbeds and get away from the crowds. Especially good if you want an all-over tan.... turn left along the seafront and you'll find the naturist beach. Don't be shy....it's nice to get an all over tan and you don't get any soggy swim things either!
