We had a great stay at the Mayflower, Christos and family were great and couldn't do enough for you, Tingaki is a great resort, not too busy but with enough going on to stop you getting bored. We can't wait to return but looking at the Thomson site for next year there's a pretty big price hike compared to this so it'll probably be later rather than sooner before we can go back to the Mayflower. See you in 2008!
We called in here most nights, it's a very friendly bar with great service and our youngest loved the childrens cocktails but three big screen tv's (all showing different channels) plus a sound system was sometimes just a bit too much.
Nice sandy beach with plenty of reasonably priced sunbeds and never too crowded, the sea is quite warm, very clear and very shallow so it's perfect for kids. It can get very windy though and one day we had to retreat to the pool back at our apartments as we were literally getting sandblasted. There can be some seaweed around but never enough to cause a problem.
This is a great excursion, the crater in the volcano doesn't look much from above but is very impressive once you get down into it with bubbling mud and hot springs dotted about and some interesting geological formations. You get about 45 mins in the crater which is plenty of time to have a wander around then it's back to Mandraki where you get the rest of the day to explore, Mandraki is picture postcard Greece with it's narrow winding streets and waterfront tavernas, watch out for the Greek lady with the Australian accent at Mike's Taverna, very bizarre listening to her speak!
After reading some of the reviews on here I thought the coach journey up to and into the volcano itself was a little tame, the coach trip to the Samaria Gorge on Crete - now that's scary!
We went with Theokritos Travel in Tingaki and they were absolutely faultless, very prompt, friendly and professional and great value for money.
You can contact The Mayflower through their website:

I hope you enjoy your stay, we loved it there.
Linda, the Kos Aqua Beach Club is about 4km from the centre of Tingaki so unless you're up for a long walk you'll need a taxi or hire car to get there.
Hi Julie, we were in Tingaki last August and didn't see any mosquitos at all, maybe we were just lucky!
Not sure about the buses but if you want trips check out Theokritos Travel on the main street, we booked all our trips with them and they were absolutely faultless and much cheaper than the Thomson rep.
There are loads of places to eat in Tingaki and we didn't really have a bad meal, the best was probably the
Mediterranee, it was a bit more pricey than some of the others but well worth it. We weren't too keen on Andreas Taverna due to a mix up with meals and drinks and the staff weren't too friendly either. Maybe we caught them on an off night.
Steve,
I would recommend the trip to see the volcanic crater on Nisyros, the three island cruise and the Lido waterpark at Mastahari. The Greek night in Zia is ok if you like that kind of thing and Paradise Beach is good for a change of scene for the day.
Like Derek says don't book with the reps, they charge you at least double the rate of the local operators and they use the same transport etc. I would recommend Theokritos Travel in the main street, last year if you booked two trips with them you got a third trip free, try getting that off your tour rep!
Hi Marjorie,
Have a look here: http://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk
Many of the comments from the latter part of last year are quite complimentary, just be aware it's a fair old distance from the centre of Tingaki.
Hi, we are thinking of booking two weeks here for next summer, does anyone know if the pool is still open to the general public or is it just for guests?
Cheers
Paul
Thanks to Jimmy and Kelly for your replies, the pool being open to all and sundry is the only thing putting us off booking at the moment, does it cause much of a problem? If so we may have to stump up the extra cash for the Mayflower again.
