The apartments are very basic but also very clean. The location is excellent - right on the beach and just a couple of minutes walk from all the main facilities (bars, shops and restaurants) - yet still quiet in the early hours. This is a very English resort - it could be anywhere in Greece, Spain etc. really. We're glad we hired a car and got to see the rest of the island.
This is a great beach. Very sandy with a nice breeze - welcome when you're in the middle of a Greek heatwave! You can walk out quite a long way into the sea - no nasty rocks or sudden dips - and it's fantastic for swimming.
The taverna is funny. As it is the only one here it gets very busy but the service is a little on the chaotic side. You do need to be patient. We bonded with people on other tables through nervous smiles - the family running the place were all screaming and shouting at each other in the kitchen.
Importantly, there are clean public toilets next to the taverna.
Worth a day out of Kardamena.
A very narrow strip of sand compared to other beaches but great nonetheless. There is a lot of dry seaweed but this wasn't a problem. You can walk a long way out and swim to your heart's content. We decided to go native and didn't hire sunbeds - we walked further up the beach and found some shade under a vacant tree. Copying the Greeks and Italians nearby we hung our bags and clothes in the branches and took them home sand-free!
The service was excellent - hard to find a place where this isn't the case in Kardamena. The food was good but not as noce as some of the other restaurants we tried.
This has to be one of the best restaurants in Kardamena. Set in the courtyard of an old restored house the atmosphere is wonderful. The service really is excellent - friendly and efficient.
We ate here twice and on both occasions the food was very good. I had the biggest - and nicest - prawns ever!
Definitely a restaurant I would recommend.
We ate upstairs on the roof garden and enjoyed a very pleasant meal. The service was very good as was the Greek food.
This must be the best restaurant we ate at - and yet it is much cheaper than all those in main resort. It was recommended to us by two different sets of Greeks.
Cross over the bridge and Posidonia is about 200m on the left. The tables look out over the transparant sea, the rocks and the twinkling lights of Nissyros.
The starters are all great as are the main courses - we loved the stifado, giovetsi and soukakia. The service is fantastic.
