We had a great time staying in the Anthoulis apartment, even though Kefalos is a bit off the beaten at the end of the summer season. The resort and accommodation won't suit the avid clubber but is ideally situated if you want a night out in a lively bar, quiet meal by the sea or equally an early night in bed! Anthoulis is clean, quiet and spacious. The landlady Maria there is also lovely and friendly. A couple of things to be wary of though: watch out for door handles - they tend to fall off in the apartments! Also, be careful when drawing the curtains - the pelmet fell off the wall and fell on me whilst doing this! Ouch!
I agree with Jan Leng. Definitely arrange the trip independently. It works out at just over 1/2 the price of a tour operator excursion, so you can splurge your savings on fake designer gear in Bodrum :) Mostly you can use your Euros there, but some official places (like post offices and ticket offices) won't accept Euros. Remember you won't be able to use Lira in Greece, but get a few million out anyway. Don't forget to visit the castle - it has a 2000-year shipwreck.
Probably the most spectacular excursion to go on from Kos. Stinky though - and hot! Thank goodness for air-conditioned coach transfers! And take some sturdy walking boots! The sulphur fumes can get a bit much on the long trek back up to the top of the crater so take an inhaler if you're asthmatic. The town of Nysiros is also cute. After the crater go on a walk through the village, soak up the sun and go for a swim in the azure waters whilst you're there.
As with most trips in Kos, do this independantly. Then you can go where you want and do what you want. Keep your eye on the time though - you don't want to miss the bus back!
Brillant! Great music, great service, great cocktails! Football games also often screened in the evening. Loved it!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Not much for the vegetarian though - but that’s applicable to most places in Greece. The food's tasty and on your last night, if you're really nice they'll give you a couple of free treats!
Can get a bit crowded with Brit and Germans - but who blames them! Great beach, lovely shallow waters for paddling in and if you go out a bit further you can find some bubbles - from the island of Nysiros. Check out the water sports if you tire of sun worshipping.
