Oasis Hotel - (Accommodation in Tingaki)

Paul F

click to enlarge Just returned from two weeks at the Oasis in Tingaki.

Great Holiday. Apartments and Pool are very clean and tidy. (there are a few rules, kids [and adults!] were told off a few times, but I guess it all goes towards the cleanliness and safety)
note: The pool closes at 7pm each night and is cleaned just after.
(for those who were there, my daughter was the noisy snorkeller!)

<- picture off google maps showing oasis apartment location (it looks further from beach than it actually is!) We found that it was easier to get to the beach by following the track around the salt lake. It brings you out at Alike's restaurant and mini market.
The beach here was very quiet, and is located near the windsurf school and at the far end of the hire-able sunbeds.

And yes.... you will need to hire a fan - although owner tells me that they are upgrading all apartments to air-conned soon.(I believe some rooms have air-con already)

Day trip to Turkey - (Kos Excursions)

Paul F

We've just returned from Kos (Tingaki) and done the Turkey day trip on a Tuesday (market day)

We booked this through Theokratos travel on Tingaki main street, who arranged everything for us.
There was a 3 euro tax to pay (inc. in ticket price) plus a further 1 euro 'port' tax to pay in Kos town.

We took up the optional free 1 hr town tour in Bodrum - which was interesting and dropped you off near the covered market, it stopped at some disused windmills (nice views of harbour) and stopped [briefly, on roadside] outside the ampitheatre(got a couple of photos, which by the looks of it was all that was needed!) - tour was funded by Bodrum Gold Centre, so there is a visit to their sales room as part of the tour.

We done the market, had lunch, then walked down to the Castle - unfortunately we didnt leave enough time to see all of the castle (it's big!) before having to catch hydrofoil back. You will need at least an hour or two to go around castle properly.
Entry to castle is in Turkish Lira only (10YTL each) We only had 30YTL and having 'ran' back through the Turkish streets in 40 degree heat to get 20 more Lira,  the lady at entrance told me that the 3 children could enter on the one ticket ! (the 20+ extra Lira came in useful for Duty free's though as I could use both currencies at once)

Lido Waterpark - (Kos Excursions)

Paul F

We had a great day at the waterpark too.  Loved the blackhole!  It was very quiet for a Sunday at the end of July!

The park owners have done a good job creating a tidy park with well maintained gardens (it even has a walk through animal centre!)

Warning: Keep your footwear on whilst walking round (we left ours at the bottom of each slide nr lifeguard points when on rides):
a] the ground gets really hot
b] there are a few red ants which bite if you step on them!
