Hi Just wondered if thw weather is good in september were going 4th sep 2010 - 19th sep Thanks Amy xx
Hi I stayed in the Lydia before it was I II and III and before it had a pool about 10 years ago and thought it was really nice then. Hopefully now its been refurbished it'll be even better! I have booked to stay in Lydia II in August through Olympicholidays.com
I stayed here with my mate in August 2006, it was our first holiday away. The Accommodation was ok although we had the short straw of staying in Lydia 2 which doesnt have air con and believe me you need it! We only had a kettle and a mircowave but it didnt really bother us as we only drank alcohol. The location is excellent its near the main nightlife, beach and the designer shops! what more can a girl ask for. The staff at Lydia are really friendly but i think they was annoyed with us on the last day for jumping in the pool the night before and being really loud. The pool area is also basic but its all you need really and if you dont like it you can just go to another pool near by. Our cleaner was really nice but the lads next door said she was pulling her face because of the state of our room, i mean come on we are girls on holiday and its her job at the end of the day. If anyone is going to Kardamena i do think you should try out Status i really enjoyed myself here we had a right laugh dancing to funky house and RnB. My advice to you is to keep away from the PRs on bar street all they did all holiday was pick me up and throw me into the pubs!!!! Me and my mate are hoping to work out here next year! so see you all soon!!!! You will have a good time here if you are going with friends or just family theres plenty to do.
Staying at Lydia II was bloody funny, perfect choice for a lads holiday. Our apartments were a tad basic yet had decent balconies, but we didn't go to Kardamena for the apartment. The important thing was having somewhere to sleep at night and being near to the important places, ie, bar street, the beach, the main nightclubs and the supermarket. So Lydia II was basically the best we could have hoped for. The pool area was immense and everyone loves a bit of Annie Lennox full volume at 5.30 in the morning.
hi, i stayed at your appartments last june with my family, it was in a superb location for the bars, beech ect, i would like to book direct with yourselfs to stay again this september if thats possible, please email me back.
We stayed in these appartments in July 04. There were in perfect location, 2 mins walk to beach and the all the bars. The cleaner came everyday, made the beds and tidyed up a bit. Bathroom was basic but clean. Always had hot water.Pool area was nice, freezin cold pool, there is a jacuzzi. Food was nice and teh drinks were cheap. We are defo comin back to stay here. It is basic, but its all you need as you only really sleep there. There is a place down the street were you can lock up all your valuables called LUkas car rental.
Myself and my friend Kerry have just returned from staying at Lydia II. We were in room 301 which is the room on the roof!! You have the whole roof terrace to yourself.
We read the reviews before going to Kardamena, and were a bit worried about the security aspect, but common sense tells you to lock up, not necessarily leave your money / passport etc lying around. Everything was fine.
The room is basic, but it's enough for self catering requirements.
The pool area is good, and the owners are very nice and friendly.
The location is excellent for the beach / getting to the supermarket / shops.
The bakery and fruit supermarket were just down the road.
The cleaner came at least twice during the week, and the linen and towels were changed once during the week.
Would be happy to stay at these apartments again if we were to return to Kardamena.
We have been here 4 times and have always been highly delighted with these apartments. They are advertised as Greek Simple Style, this is what they are. Nikos, Kateria and Lydia always make you welcome, we took the Grandaughter this year she can't wait to go back. The pool and bar area are really great since Nikos extended it.
We have never had a problem with security and you can get free security boxes at Lukas which is 50 yds away. The bakery for your hot morning crossants and the local supermarket which is as cheap as the large one is 20 yds away. We shall be back next year!
Having read some of the reports on here I was concerned about what we were going to at Lydia II. Here are my findings.
Our Room - We arrived in the middle of the night and although we had booked Lydia II, found that we had been given an apartment in the Lydia 1 block.
First impressions were that the aparment was large, clean & tidy and better than I expected. 2 single beds, breakfast bar, microwave, fridge, 2 ring cooker, air-con & tv.
Shower was excellent every night, plenty hot water even around 7/8 at night. Room had air conditioning but had to pay a 10Euro deposit for controller and then 40Cents per hour. Didn't even use up 10 Euros worth over a fortnight.
Cleanliness - The maid we had was always very pleasant although she didn't speak english she always said hello and had a smile for us. Although rooms are not cleaned and towels changed every day we found it to be adequate. It doesn't take much to keep your room tidy anyway.
Security - I'd read reports of break ins and problems with security. There are no safety deposits boxes in the apartments, however 50 yards away you can get free deposit boxes at Lukas car hire if you are a Lydia resident. It's common sense to make use of these and at night ensure your doors are locked. No problem. I did not find security an issue, although on our last day I thought someone tried our door in the morning. But our door was locked anyway. You wouldn't leave your door unlocked at home. So why do it on holiday.
Pool & bar area - The pool was a nice size, plenty of free sunbeds and the bar staff (Hi Katerina) were all very pleasant and helpful. Bar snacks were very good value and ideal for a light bite. 1.50E for a bottle of zorbas (nice), 60Cents for water, 2.50E for a toastie to give a few of examples of prices.
Location - Lydia is about 4 streets back from the waterfront and almost central. Kardamena is a small resort and we regularly walked from one end to other. supermarket situated next door and a bakery 30 yards away. 2 mins walk and you are into all the bars and restaurants you could want.
I would have no problem going back to Lydia in the future. So have a good holiday if you are going there.
These are also the worst apartments iv ever stayed in.. yeh we expected basic but not as basic as these!they never got cleaned, never got clean towels our balcony over looked a butchers wer we saw dead carcuses getting hauled in there.. and woke to the sound of sawing of bones!!!i also got robbed on my second to last day luckily there wasnt much money floating about, but thats the point really as me n my friend were in bed and woke up to find a man crouched by the side of my bed..so be warned lock ur doors at all times as it was 6am wen it happened!!
other than the s**t whole apartments the place KARDEMENA is excellent we met loads of people including lots of boys!!and the location of the apartmentswas really close to the whole of bar street and the 2 clubs status and starlight!! enjoy!
Oh my GOD! This was the worst place I've ever stayed! There was ants everywhere, a cockroach in our bathroom at 3am that ran under the fridge, the maid never cleaned the room or changed the towels, the toilet seat was coming off and the shower was completly PANTS!!
Don't book to stay at this hotel cuz it's awful. Makes Faulty Towers look like a palace.
The bar staff are friendly tho, and the bar is very cheap. Bit noisy with all the Mopeds racing around but in a good position for Status and the main Bar Street. Me and Flic had a really good view of some trees from our balcony unlike our friends who were overlooking the pool.
Also really annoying with all the kids throwing balls around in the pool, makes it difficult to get in there, better off going to the beach.
Kos rocks, I met some great people who made me feel at home and took me under their wing. The locals are all very polite and helpful, mainly cos they want your money! the appartments well good, I recommend Lydia 2 room 201 which has 2 rooms and a tv with some classic greek comedy shows on. If u want a good night hit the bars, have a fish bowl, Bernies bar rocks, the clubs are good for after and rising at 12 means you get the best of the sun. great time, great holiday give it 10/10! love John Volley
We stayed at the Lydia II from the 30th June to the 14th July, Had a great time in Kardamena, the apartment however was rubbish! Things kept breaking, the maids didnt do a good job of the cleaning, they tried breaking my bed by moving the planks of wood underneath which then i suspected they were going to blame on me. The doors to the balcony dont lock but we were on the 2nd floor and didnt get broken in to. The location is excellent, there is a supermarket 1 minute away and the pool bar was cheap. The manager is a moany tw*t tho, and a miserable one at that!
Came back from here last Thursday (Lydia III). A WARNING to anyone staying here, I woke up on the first morning to a cleaner going through my bag and my wallet. Lucky I woke up or she would have stolen my holiday money!! She was very apologetic, but thats not the point, she shouldn't have been stealing! I did tell out Thomas Cook rep Mark Fuller, he sai he would have a quiet word with the cleaner, but while we were there, a lad in the room opposite had 600 Euros stolen from his room, so be warned. Make sure that you have no accessable valuables out for the cleaner to take. Other than that we had a great holiday, we want to go back, but not to the lydia though, somewhere nearby, as it was situated in a good place. Go to the Crackers Bar! Its great! :o)
Me and the wife stayed here in 2003. It was the beginning of the season, so no surprise then when we found everything closed ! We did have an annoying gang of Mancunians who managed to put the window in the Macdonalds through and got the CRAP beaten out of them ! SERVES THE STUPID THUGS RIGHT ! Anyway, It was cold for a bit but warmed up later on in the week. Met some good people and got on well with the staff at the sportsman bar, (just down the road!). We did have a bad ending when a bloke from Blackpool overdosed on drugs and breathed his last on this earth outside our room. Will go back to KOS someday!
i came back from kos a while ago, and what a holiday, but im here to talk about the appartments. very basic but good. i found that the place hardly got cleaned and when it did, it was done by the most annoying maids who just burst into your room at stupid clock and dont care bout your sleep .do not be sick in the place or they charge you a lot.showers were small but you dont care as it has hot running water all the time. rooms were a good size with comfy beds. very nice pool and pool area. ideal for socialising in the sun, and with a nice cocktail. 2 min walk from beach and 2 steps to the bars.happy hour at pool bar - brill( 8pm-10pm).
we've just been to lydia apartments in kardamena for 2 weeks! we were impressed, its clean, but simple, rooms have an electric 2 ring hob, microwave, tv, shower but its crap (no hot water after 6pm after, cos its all used up and solar heated!) u hav to put paper in bin, not toilet like all over greece! the rooms are cleaned by this annoying maid every day and the sheets are changed on saturdays. the only problems we found were that sum of the rooms (downstairs ones had ants but this was solved with a spray they gave us) there were no horrible creatures, cockroaches etc.... the pool is small and un heated but thats a gud thing, theres plenty of sun loungers and the bar is open most of the time, theres a 50 euro fine if u go in the pool at nite and aparently ur hair goes green! (yeah rite)its really damn close to the beach and shops, and all the bars and restaurants but unlike in loads of resorts its not loud at nite, cos of the 12pm music ban thingy. fans can be hired at 10 euros a week! umm thats about it ! great little apartments, not bad at all, oh yeah no t**ts either! mixture of people.
The Lydia Apartments are in an ideal location if you are interested in the pubs and clubs of Kardemena, just a five minute walk takes you to bar street and the harbour. We really enjoyed our holiday their and the staff are very helpfull and lovely. The aparment we stayed in was a two bedroomed and was clean and provided all you need for a comfortable holiday, the only thing we were slightly unhappy about was the bathroom. The shower was v. basic and hot water was non existent after 6pm.
Apart from that all was fine, pool very clean and plenty of sunbeds to go round. There is also a pool bar which serves snacks but more importantly a good breakfast!
G'day all! Will be leaving dreary London 4 a week in mid July, and have just booked up in the Lydia appartments. Any more comments/advise would b much appreciated (even though theres no going back now!). And whats this about cockroaches!!
Thanks - Ian & Jamie (TheSmartE@hotmail.com)
We stayed in these apartments Oct 02. We thought they were basic but had everything we needed. The pool is freezing, however its nice too cool off in there. The pool bar has some good snacks and good english breakies!! The people who worked there were really nice. It is just in the right location as it is about 2 mins away from the beach and bars/restaurants. The apartments were cleaned every other day. We didn't see any cockroaches and had no problems with ants. We loved the holiday and we are going back in 3 weeks (May 03) to Argyri ApartHotel, so I hope thats as good as the last holiday we had. there!!
i stayed in Lydia 2 with a friend last year and we were really impressed. our room was really nice and spacious with a balcony. we had a microwave, fridge, kettle, cooking rings and a t.v. in our room. we even gad a shower curtain which is very lucky for Greece. the maids cleaned our room every day which got a bit annoying but we weren't going to complain! overall very good.
Off to the Lydia Apartments September 4th 03 - Just want a few more comments. I can put up with cockroaches & ants!
We hated these apartments when we stayed there last Aug. The apartments were very basic with loose wires hanging out of the walls everywhere (even above the shower!!). There was only one power socket in the whole apartment so God help you if you're a gang of girls. There was cockroaches on the balcony, bags full of rubbish right beloew our balcony which stunk and to top it all off we had ants in our beds. We complained about it and they gave us fly spray!!!!!
On a positive note, the pool is great, the bar staff are lovely and they sell nice snacks. It's also in a good location but is just off the main street so it's pretty quiet.
Sorry if I've put you off if you've already booked. I wouldn't worry-we were probably just unlucky.
Hey peeps that go to lydia expect to love it if u see the pics in the brochures then its from 2 yrs ago but it is now much better!!!!
