Olympida

Restaurants in Kos Town

Maria

We have been travelling to Kos for some 10 years and came across the Olympiada Restaurant about 4 years ago which has become a firm favorite of ours.  The resaturant is ideally located - just around the corner from Olympic Airlines and near the town bus station.  The owners - Bill and his son Jimmy - are simply wonderful people as is the food.  If you are looking for a traditional and authentic Greek restaurant  than Olympiada is the right place.  The menu is extensive which includes the more known Greek dishses such as Moussaka, Stifado, souvlaki, Greek salad, fresh piping hot calamari and offers different dishes not found on every menu - Pork in lemon sauce, shrimps saganaki (which is absolutely wonderful and is my personal favorite), Horta (a spinach-like green which can be eaten hot or cold with a squeeze or lemon and olive oil), and many more.  The restaurant also offers more international dishes such as steak, hamburger etc. In fact everying on the menu is very good. The house wine is drinkable.  Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity.  The service is quick and friendly.  Bill and Jimmy take care of their guests and I am sure if you like Greek food you will love Olympiada and, like us, return again and again for lunch and dinner.

The Olympiada can be found up from the harbour and past the BUS STATION, behind The OLYMPIC AIRWAYS Office. it is situated in the centre of the working area of Kos Town so you can just sit there and observe the local way of life, and a lot of the locals eat here.
This a is Typical Greek Taverna offering a very extensive menu of both Greek and International Dishes, they have 25 Different Specialities.
I had the Saganaki Cheese, my friend had Calamari, then we both had Stifado (a beef and onion stew which was fantastic) and a nice bottle of Red wine ( Calliga Ruby) and to complete the meal we had a couple of large ouzo's.
