Peter - just got back from staying at the Agrotica and can't recommend it highly enough. The owners are lovely and make you feel like a family guest rather than a customer - one the first day we were presented with a huge basket of apricots fresh from their garden, and when we left we were given sweets for the flight and hugs and kisses! Because there are only a few apartments it never feels busy, the pool is wonderful and the views from every angle are spectacular. The sunsets from the balconies are particularly memorable. I'd really recommend hiring bikes as there are lots of beautiful ( and flat! ) lanes all around that are well worth exploring.
A couple of recommendations:
Copious amounts of mozzie spray!
If you're on the dreaded night flight book extra legroom - I didn't and really regretted it...

  Just booking to go to Tingaki for October half term - has anyone been at this time of year before? Any info about what the weather will be like and what bars/restaurants will be open would be greatly appreciated.
