Captains Hotel - (Accommodation in Kos Town)

Unlike Tony Ainsworth, who is your seasoned traveller, my husband David and I have only been regulars at the Captains for five years! of which the last three we have been accompanied by Davids' sister and brother in law. In fact this year we're going twice - gluttons for nice punishment! But seriously I think he provides a fair description of what's on and available and Stephanos, Irene, Mike and staff always provide a good and friendly welcome. We have made friends with other regulars - Margaret and Grumpy! (oops George!)to name but two. We didn't think we would frequent kos as often as we do but it really is "away from it all" for us.

My husband David and I always get a good welcome at the Caravan as Hasan is an excellent host and we have met many people who are regulars there like us. David's favourite is the peppered steak and I love the greek salad - more than enough for one and very generous with the feta cheese! Things can get a bit hectic so be prepared for a leisurely wait, but that's part of the holiday and to have a drink and a chat! Also we go quite often for breakfast before a hard days' relaxing!

Regarding my only previous entry (March 24 2003) my husband and I have just returned from our second visit to Kos this year. Once again we had a brilliant time and can't wait for next year. However, I felt obliged to voice my distain at the comments of Peter Cook Head (September 19 2003) directing derisory comments at Mr Tony Ainsworth. We met Tony on our first visit to Kos five years ago and have kept in touch ever since. He is very friendly, approachable and is a mine of information on Kos (very helpful for the uninitiated!). In fact you will note that he has made several valid contributions to this site.

About the Caravan. In a way it is a victim of it's own success. Yes, it is a small family run restaurant. Yes, it does get very busy. but - chill out, you're on holiday! The food is great, reasonably priced and a warmer welcome you could not receive from Hasan. Mr Head, we can't all be wrong! PS. I am not being paid for this plug!
