Tingaki Resort

Resorts on Kos

Debbie J

Tingaki is a quiet resort not like Kos Town or Kardamena, basically it consists of two roads one which runs off the main Kos to Kefalos road down to a very pretty roundabout with a fountain and along the beach front, most of the tavernas, restaurants and gift shops are on the main road to the roundabount, along the beach road are a few tavernas and supermarkets, at the top of the main high street is a very large supermarket called Constantinos this is a bit like Asda but on a slightly smaller scale alot of english brands sold here but I found the smaller supermarkets cheaper, there are plenty of vehicle rental places in tingaki who rent cars, scooters quad bikes and bicycles (the bicycles are approx 3 euro's a day and have padlock security with them by for the safer way to travel), there are plenty of sunbeds on the beach to rent per day approx 3-4 euros.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Tingaki, and as for the food it was great anyone visiting must have a meal at the Meni Restaurant (this is on the main road itself not far from the roundabout) the chef is very good and the staff are so friendly, a lady called Sia will escort you in off the street and Andy the Manager is very pleasent with his colourful shirts, I eat most nights here as the food was so good and not expensive, another good restaurant is the Scala this is on the corner by the roundabout, any one going must try the seafood at either restaurant as it is excellant. A bus service operates daily along the seafront and up the main street  every hour to Kos Town,  from where I stayed at the far end of Tingaki the bus left at 20 past the hour starting at 09.20am  and cost 1 euro and 40 cent and takes approx 20 mins, buses from Kos Town are on the hour but don't run at 12 noon or at 2pm  so beware but they run till late I think last bus from Kos Town to Tingaki is 11pm, you can also catch buses on the main road from Kos to most other resorts. Hope my info has helped you in all I had a very relaxing and good holiday and I will return to Tingaki again soon

Kerry H

The weather will be hot in the day but at night it gets a little cooler so you will need a top to take out with you but not a thick coat.

Anne M

Visited Tingaki last September. Stayed at Akti Dimmys.  The best holiday ever. Wonderful people who went out of their way to please. Everywhere was so clean and the beach was wonderful. We enjoyed it so much that we are going  back in May. Can"t wait to see all the wonderful friends we made there last year.

Baby G

We loved TINGAKI everyone was just so friendly plently of bars and tavernas. Most nights we ate a SPYROS TAVERNA and loved going to KATRAS BAR to at night.

The beach is like a dream at night you can see all the lights on the other island with the boats all lite up and the stars are so bright.

Overall a fab place to be would go back with out a douth. Oh found a nice web sight today from Spyros it's   http//www.mysite.wanadooo-members.co.uk/spyrostavernakosgr

Just got back from our holiday in Tingaki and really enjoyed it. Accomodation is typically Greek - basic no frills but generally clean. We stayed in the Ariadne Apts, which were bright and spacious, quite clean but maid didnt come everyday.  She looked about 80 years old so it is probably a difficult job for her to get round!! Use of the Sunset pool was great.

We expected the resort to be quiet and were planning to go to Kos town. However, didnt bother as although it is no Faliraki, there were a nice selection of bars and they will stay open unitl you leave. Kivitos is definitely a must.
Andreas Taverna (up the top away from beach) very good food and value for money.
Vassilis(?) close to beach also very good with a selection of food, great service and value for money.
Mediteranee more expensive than others but lovely food, big portions and modern classy decor.

A resort suitable for families with lots of restaurants and (almost) everything being on one road. Supermarket is massive with everything you would need.
Met loads of people who go there every year.
Only down side was the mozzies, who seemed particularly vicious. Take repellant, cream and allergy tablets.
We would definitely recommend this resort and would go back again.

My wife and I have stayed in Tingaki for the last three years, at Sunshine apartments, a family run business with a high focus on quality and customer focus. Dimitri, Maria, Michalis, Endi and Senya, have again proved that they can offer a fantastic service to compliment anyone's holiday.

Just next door is a Brit run cocktail bar ( The Beer Garden, at the rear of the Fish Restaurant) Gill, Glenda and Gary are superb and very welcoming, offering all the amenities and security to allow the kids a home from home experience.

What more can we say, excellent food, people, beer, weather and service, for anyone who is unsure, I can guarantee a superb holiday, heres looking forward to summer 2006.

Mandy W

went to tingaki end of june for 10 days. had a wonderful time, we stayed in the agrotica apartments. we have booked again to go beginning of sept as we had such a lovely holiday.

Jet

Me & my friend were in Tingaki in Sept last year for a week (middle of sept) and it defo was NOT windy - would have been great if it had been coz some days just too warm.

The owner of our Apartments did say that Sept was normally bit more windy than othr months but wasnt when we were there.

We found prices in Tingaki restaurants much cheaper than Zante last year, drinks can be found from 1.80 euro a pint for the local stuff and the avereage main course costs around 6 euros. Tingaki is one long road leading down to a very good beach with plenty of beds available all day, with a pretty much constant breeze. Water drops to about 3 ft deep pretty quickly but stays like that for a long way out, ideal for kids. The pictures show the views up and down the road from about half way down to the beach.

Karen T

click to enlarge It was our first visit to Kos and would definately return.  The food was excellent, the people were more than kind.  Plenty to see and do, when reading some of the comments I thought it was going to be a little too quiet for us but there is plenty of fun for all, however,  the resort is more suited towards families18 - 30s certainly would not like it here.  The beach is unspoilt. Good views of a couple of other islands and Turkey.  The sea is gently shelving and can get choppy but only when the breeze gets higher.  The breeze is a god send and out of the two weeks only one day was the breeze quite strong.  It was 35 - 40 degrees thoughout the two weeks but it was easy enough to handle this is thanks again to the onshore breeze.  There are plenty of bars and restaurants to chose from depending on whether you want a quiet drink or a bit of a dance.  I wouldn't say that there are any real disco's although there are a couple of dance bars, here you can dance out in the back room however they are not very big.  If you are a family and are thinking of going to Tigaki then please try it you will love it.

Paul J

Great beach nice restaurants good bus service into Kos town but the mozzies are terrible.
Tingaki is the best resort i've been to but if you are sensitive to mozzie bites forget it, there is a salt lake near to all the apartments and they plan their assaults from there and whilst they never bothered me my wife's holiday was spoiled by the damned things. If however you are ok about them I can't recommend this place enough the beach is truly fantastic with views to Turkey 4 miles away and Kos town is full of incredible history

Emmi R

Wow! What a fabulous place, its Lovely!!!

We've been there for the last 3 years and would defo recommend it!!

Cat

Really find this site very informative but to keep it updated we need everyone who has returned to give their views on bars, restaurants, accom etc - anything and everything.

So anyone having returned in 2005 please give your views - negative or positive!!

Thanks

Jet

was in Tingaki twice last year and loved it. going back in sept (angela apts hopefully)

its not a club 18-30 resort but defo got enough bars and restaurants.

Mascot bar was the livliest - karakoe, bands etc. Enzo & Memories both had bit indoors with dj and dance floor.

defo something for everyone.

to Liz & Nat - yeh there was a few good looking men!!

cant wait to go back

Melissa N

Hi Jonanne,

I went to Tingaki in May for two weeks and there was quite a few bars with dance floors. It was quiet when I went so we got a taxi to Kos Town every other nite (approx 12 euros one way). But Tingaki should be getting busy when you go. I can't give you any info on the apartments. Sorry.

Julie B

Am looking to book a holiday at mo to Tingaki as it sounds sooo lovely. can't find any info on Ariadni Apts or Socrates Apts, any1 got any info on these? Sounds like Angela very good so thinking about that, but going July so could be very crowded round pool? oh and have all rooms got air con? bit worried about heat as usually hol in May. Any info on Thimanakis Studio would be helpful 2! Thanks!!!

Jet

To Melissa read your report on angela etc. I stayed there last year twice and agree with everything you say. Was reading your views on mascot bar - you said aussie guy who owned it etc. is it not yannis(greek) who still owns it? was christos still working behind the bar? did you go into enzo bar (before kavotis, from the angela), it was getting sold last year and wondered wot it was like now. cheers

Rachael T

Has anyone stayed at the sunshine apartments in Tingaki?? Just wondered what they were like?

Melissa N

My friend and I (both 24 and female) have just come back from 2 weeks in Tingaki and had a BRILLIANT holiday! We stayed at the Angela Hotel (owned by a very friendly Greek lady-Nicky) which was fairly basic but better than some Greek accommodation I have stayed in! We were lucky enough to have a big room (no.37) with a double and a single bed in and still had plenty of space! We also had a TV but only one or two English channels. The girls, Elaine and Lorraine, who work at the 'Angela' were absolutely the best people you could ever meet! They couldn't do enough for you and were always happy and smiling! The rooms were cleaned once or twice a week and bins emptied and new towels changed every other day! For those of you who have a night flight on the way back there is an option to pay more to keep your room, I think it was about 35 euros.

The pool at the Angela hotel was lovely! Yes, they could do with a bit more room around it as I imagine there will be some fights for sunbeds come July! But in May it was more than adequate and the water was lovely and clean (and cold!!). The food around the pool (cooked by Lorraine) is great!! The English breakies are about 4 or 5 euros and really fill you up. They also have lovely burgers, club sarnies, quiches, salads and toasties which are all cooked to perfection! My friend and I often shared lunch as the portions were so large!!!

Due to the time of year Tingaki was very quiet. We knew that this would be the case so went to Kos town for a few boozy nites! Kos town was brilliant! We made friends with lots of bar staff as everyone's just so friendly! It was about 10 euros for 2 drinks but we always got loads of free shots so it was good value!! A taxi from Tingaki to Kos is approximatly  12 euros so if you can get a full taxi it obviously works out cheaper! In a way we wished we had stayed in Kos Town. not because Tingaki wasn't nice, but we had thought we would just want a quiet holiday and once we realsied how good Kos Town was, we wanted to go there every night, but couldn't due to the money situation!

The beach at Tingaki was not as great as I thought it was going to be! But again, I think that may be due to the time of year. Because it has been windy over the winter it seems to have blown a lot of seaweed onto the sand and in the shallow part of the sea---this put me off a bit! Hopefully they will clear it away for peak season! The beach is a short (5-10mins) walk from the Angela :o)

There is a brillaint supermarket just a short walk away from the Angela Apts (turn left and head away from the beach). It's called 'Konstantinos' and is massive! You can get all your food, alcohol, ciggies and perfumes from there! As well as prezzies to take home! It's definatly worth going there to stock up as ot's cheaper than all the other small supermarkets.

While we were in Tingaki we went to Bodrum in Turkey for a day. We booked the trip with Theokritis Travel as reccommended by lots of people. It cost 25 euros and they pick you up and drop you off at your hotel! It's a long day but well worth doing! Especially if you have't been to Turkey before! I've decided I will defo be going back!! We went on the hydrofoil which literally takes 20 mins! If you get a choppy day I imagione there will be a few poorly people  as it travels at some speed!!! We went to the market (open on tuesdays) which is a must see but we soon got fed up and wanted some peace and quiet. We had a lovely pizza in an Italian style restaurant, but it wasn't as cheap as I thought it was! Everyone told us to change up £10 into Turkish Lire and that would do for 2 people to get drinks and food etc! But that didn't last long at all! And we shared the pizza!!!! It doesn't seem woth changing any money to lire as EVERYWHERE seemed to accept euros and a lot of places accepted GBP too!

The Grand Salle restaurant is opposite the Angela hotel and owned by George (Nicky's husband) and is absolutely gorgeous! And very cheap! The pizzas are fantastic! And you can get takeaway too if you fancy taking a pizza to have on your balcony!!  I definatly reccommend going there at least once! While we were in Tingaki we went to Spyros and Meni for meals which were very nice. We were not impressed by the Tingaki Grill though! We were served by girls (most places we were served by very helpful men) and their customer service was very poor. We were not given plates for our bread so we had to cut it on the table! And our food was sereved about 3 minutes after we ordered it which indicates it could have been cooked ages ago waiting for a rush of people. No one asked us if our meal was ok and everything was just slapped on the table! We both had scampi and it was lovely (though some salad would have been nice on the side!) but we were so disappointed that the girls were unfriendly that we decided not to leave a tip and never to go back!

All in all we had a FANTASTIC holiday! The Angela is definatly the best place to stay if you want to feel part of a big family and get lots of good advice and info from Nicky, Elaine and Lorraine. The location is superb--right near all the restaurants, bars, phone box, supermarket etc etc and 5-10mins from the beach!
And Tingaki is a great place--though if you are wanting somewhere lively and boozy Kos Town is the place to be! Happy holidays!!!!

can't wait to see them again,  wouldn't go anywhere else in summer months now

Paul G

Cheers for info bout ATMs...P

Jason B

Hi Michelle. Nah I don't think you will need those! lol. Just remember the insect repellent! If you have air conditioning they won't bother you but if not make sure you spray your room before you go out for the night. That should kill the little ******* by the time you get back. The local supermarket has all the sprays and lotions u need.  Have a great time!

Caroline J

gyros is everywhere in tigaki!!!!!! i loved this place!!

Danny A

Sorry me again,we will not be getting into resort till about 12.40 to 1.00 am will there be any snack bars open to get a bite to eat. Thanx Danny

Michelle H

Hi Jason cheers for the advise on the mossys and the flies. Might need to take my thermals then?????

Angela D

Has anyone any info on Marmari, Kos ? Looking to travel to Kos,but, Can not find much info about this resort... Thanks.

Paul G

does anybody know if there is anywhere in Tingaki where they sell dairy free products, such as soya milk? cheers bernie gillender.

Jason B

Hi Michelle,

The weather in Kos in May can vary. It tends to be mid 20's, but one year it hit the 30's. Might be a little chilly in the evenings. Beware of the Mosquitos and Flies, as the Salt lake, where they breed, will still have plenty of water in it. This year they haven't had much rain so the lake should dry out quite early on in the season.

Michelle H

So does anyone know how hot it is in Tingaki, off there May 7th for 2 wks???

Jason B

An ATM cash machine was installed last year. It is situated next to the roundabout/fountain. Ask anyone when you are there and they will piont you in the right direction. Before that, the nearest one was Kos Town 20 mins drive away!

D S

Yes there is defo at least one - bar street - where you book the tours. Think also one at bottom of bar street before you reach the fountain. Tingaki is excellant holiday resort!

Paul G

Going to Tingaki in July. Can anyone tell me if there are any ATM machines in the area...cheers

Jason B

In reply to Melissa Nevill ,17th April 2005. Tingaki and Tigaki are the same place. The "n" is silent in the Greek pronounciation, though you will see it spelt both ways.

We have been visiting Tingaki for the last 6 years. Great place! Wonderful friendly people. Slow pace, so good for a relaxing holiday, but close enough for Kos Town and Kardamena for a livelier night out.

Recommended place to eat is Esperos (along the main beach road, 10 mins walk from the fountain) If you choose to eat there tell Stamatis that Chandler and Jason will be over to see him again in June.!

Hope u enjoy it as much as we do!

Melissa N

HELP!!! I'm off to Tingaki in May. What is the difference between Tingaki and Tigaki??? Are they the same place---please let me know---thanks!

Michelle H

We are off to Tingaki in May. Anyone been this year yet if so whats the weather like???

Chelsea S

a great place weve been twice i would recomend ilios hotel because it has many friendley people and a great night life.

Leah M

i love tingaki! it was amazing when i went.

Caroline J

excellent

Chris B

We went to tingaki this summer and it was the best holiday by far. The beaches are very sandy and clean and the water is not deep when you get in.

Best place to eat was Spyros Taverna very nice food good servce and we will be back love you all.

Best Bar's Katras & Mascot's for sure we went to Katras first to get warmed up nice and quite, very nice staff see you next year mike, then off to mascot's for the rest of the night miss you all.

All good people and also good price too.

One O

We have just returned from a fortnight in Tingaki staying at the Ilios Hotel and apartments. The apartments at Ilios are excellent, large, clean and airy. The staff are the friendliest and most welcoming we have ever come across. We were a large party of four families and loads of teenagers who can't wait to go back! Tingaki is a very pretty resort with amazing views across the sea. The beach is excellent & the sea is turquoise blue. We highly recommend you pop in to Theokritas travel to see Louise & Nic if you want trips, car hire etc - very helpful, Louise is English and will go out of her way to make you feel at home. Ilios is definitely the place to stay for a family holiday. It is on the outskirts of Tingaki but an easy walk so don't let that put you off. One of the best restaurants we found was Tingaki Grill to the left of the roundabout facing the sea. Louis the Australian waiter was good fun and considering the number of us there were very few slip ups! We were wary of going in October but had blazing sunshine every day. The evenings cooled quickly though towards the end. A brilliant time was had by all

Rob

I want another Greek Salad

Rob J

ust a quick one to say hi to all the people I met in Mascot Bar. Goo dto see that Susie has added some comments. Do you remember me Susie? It is Rob, you and your friend were eating in Meni Restaurant when I said hello to you. I was with two people from my apartments and it was my last night.

Great place as everyone was really friendly.

Susie H

Just come back from tingaki today. Had the best time. We stayed in Mythos Apartments through Thomas Cook and would definitely stay there again. The owner, his mother and all the staff speak perfect English and can't do enough for you. We had a two bedroom apart for the two of us, or they also have one bedroom aparts slightly smaller. The weather in mid October was perfect. Very hot during the day, slightly cooler in the evenings, but still warm enough to sit outside without anything on your arms. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Two of the best include Meni's and Vasilli's which is part of Mythos Apartments. The best bar by far is Mascot's. Prices a little bit higher than other bars, but definietly worth it for the atmostphere. Karaoke is a must! The shops are very touristy, although there are one or two nice jewellery shops. For your typical Greek shops, venture into Kos Town, a short bus ride away costing just over a Euro going every hour from the roundabout by the beach.
If you staying at number 17 when we were, did you get my note? If by the small chance you guys are reading this, get in touch!

Laura S

We returned from a wonderful two weeks in Tingaki on the 29th September (seems like so long ago now). We stayed at the sunshine apartments. The room was nice, enough space for the two of us, two electric cooking rings but we hardly ever used them. The pool was great and quiet most days which meant we could just relax.
All the places we ate were good some more than others! The resort has every thing you could need from a relaxing break, or you can easily get a car, bus or go on a trip for something to do.
Overall it was excellent, we loved it!!

Diane D

We stayed at the Irina Beach Hotel between 29th Sept & 5th Oct. It was a last minute booking and we didn't know where we would be staying so we were a bit worried. We couldn't believe it when we were given our room and opened the balcony doors at about 1 am in the morning - nothing except the sound of crickets and the ocean - fantastic view of the beach, swimming pool, sea and Turkey. The room and the whole complex was very clean and the staff extremely friendly. It's a long way out of town but hire a bike as the whole area is very flat and you can cycle for miles without finding a hill. Tingaki (or Tigaki)is very pleasant. The only draw back is that there was only one bar/restaurant that you could sit at and be virtually on the beach. The weather was very hot but there was a constant breeze (which built for a wind that was quite uncomfortable at times). The beaches we visited on the other side of the island were a lot less windy. Just a few metres from the apartments was the restaurant recommended in the Rough Guide. It began with Am - can't remember the rest. It felt like a genuine Greek restaurant with food they cooked themselves and a canopy of grape vines. Nightlife isn't something that interests us so I couldn't comment. The best part of the beach is the other side of Tingaki (go left if facing the sea).

Diane T

thanks for that steve if our paths cross in tingaki will buy you a drink

Linda O

sunny days apartments are in the kosmar greece book 1st edition 2005

Jenny M

Had a wonderful 2 weeks at the sunshine apartments. Met some great people (including Rory and Estelle)(next door). Would love to go back next year, but can't find it in any brochures. Can anybody help?
All restaurants that Alex and I tried were excellent - not a single bad meal. Bars great! Beach wonderful - shallow -great for people who are not confident in water. Can't wait for next year.

Lindsey W

Went to Tingaki in June loved it so much,I had to go back in September for another week. The beach is great and the mascot bar is the place to go at night with the great entertainment dont expect to leave before 4am. Definitely going back next year for lazy days on the beach and drinking in the mascot bar at night.

Kim S

We have just come back from Tingaki, stayed at the Mythos Apartments and are feeling very blue......we had a great holiday, weather great, hit 90s most days, but be warned, the nights are really quite cold, you will need something warm to wear. Trying to eat al-fresco is very uncomfortable when you are cold, so wrap up. We want to go back, apts lovely, people great, what more can you ask? If anyone wants any info, please ask, I will be watching this site even of my own hols are over for the year.

Louise F

i have been to tingaki twice this year, and it is lovely, we stayed at the mythos apartments, they r very clean and has a very friendly pool bar, the staff r lovely and couldn't do enough for you. i recommend mascot bar for the evenings, lots of free shots and entertainment.

Jane

Me and 3 of my friends have just come back from the Sunset Hotel. It was great. Every-one is very friendly and we went to 7-Dayz and the Mascot bar for the night life. Say hi to Geaorge in 7-Dayz if any-one goes. He will probably offer you shots, possible one thats 80% proof. Make sure your near the toilets if he gives you this!!!!

If anyone goes to Turkey, Bodrum for the day out, beware that they try to dragg you into their shops, which can get a bit tiresome after a while, however they're copy designer gear is very good, make sure you haggle with them!!

Have fun ;-)

J

Janet W

Tingaki is simply beautiful. Everything you need in one street. Beach is stunning. Bus runs regularly into Kos town. We went in August and it was very hot, although the afternoon breeze is a godsend. We hired 2 quad bikes from Nikos bikes for 45 euros and managed to do the island of kos on our own. The kids enjoyed riding around the salt lake in Tingaki and over the sand dines. There are plenty of resturants to choose from. We did read that due to the salt lake mozzies were a problem, although we were lucky not to have been bitten. We did go prepared and made sure we were protected when the sun went down. However we did see some people with some very nasty bites, so make sure you go prepared. Riding along the road beside the beach late evening on our quads we could feel the mozzies hitting us!

Estelle K

I have just got back from Tigaki and I have to say it is the best holiday I have been on. I stayed in the apartments Sunshine which I absolutely loved. The aartments don't have very good cooking facilities but who goes on holiday to cook?? The staff here were very friendly and I have to say that Eddie who is a waiter is a top man!! The pool is lovely and the sunbeds are good as if you have had enough of the sun you can move them easily into the shade. The restaurant is also the best in Tigaki. The beach is the nicest in Kos.
I have already booked to go back next year and to stay at Sunshine apartments as it is that good.

Laura S

I visited Tingaki in 1995, and had a lovely time then and hope to have just as nice a time this year from the 15th. Hi Kay, we might see you around then say hi you can't miss us my Fiance is quite tall.
I have found review on the sunshine and i am led to belive it is basic, no toaster or kettle, but fairly clean etc. The beds by the pool are apparently in the shade for most of the day, ok for those who like it cool but as a sun worshiper that sounds disapointing. The pool is also a public pool so is aften visited by other holidaymakers. If anyone has other info i would be glad of it?

Maureen S

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Andrews in June 2004 - fantastic - we are going back again next week. A wonderful family run hotel, very clean, great pool, just back from the main road so no traffic noise but close enough to enjoy all facilities. A perfect location for those wanting a typical Greek holiday "laid back".

Lynne M

We have just returned from the Sunny Days Apartments, they were very clean and well run. Tingaki was very nice, though no good for shopaholics. Whilst there we needed to visit a doctor as my son had an ear infection, I would advise anyone requiring health care not to visit Dr K. Labrianidis on the main road. He gave us incorrect information about the E1.11, saying it was impossible to use in Kos, he gave us the wrong receipts to claim our money back even though I asked for the correct ones {The sticky labels on the medication} He prescribed 5 different drugs for an ear infection, he was very rude when I questioned his advice regarding the E1.11, saying English people wanted everything for free and he would only accept payment in euros, converting the excess on our insurance of £50 to 80 euros , when the exchange rate was 1.45 to the £

Laura S

We are going to Tingaki on 15th september and staying in sunshine appts. Can anyone tell me if it is nice, clean and got a good poll bar?

Teresa A

We are going to Tingaki in October and staying at the Golden Sun Apartments. Can't find any comments on the above not sure if this is a good thing or not!! This is our first time to Kos so what would you recommend we visit?

Adam B

Hi everyone, I have just got back from Tingaki and I thought it was great! I stayed at the Marianna Studios and I enjoyed my stay. The Studios are very basic but spacious. The swimming pool is excellent, along with the snack bar. The best bars in Tingaki are the Becks Bar and Mascot Bar both give loads of free shots of Ouzo! I put my Rangers shirt up on the wall in the Becks Bar so please dont pull it down! LOL. There was this beautiful girl who stayed at the Marianna the sametime as me! Please get in touch! I think your name was Olivia. (Bushell85@hotmail.com)

K B

We drove here from Kos Town where we were staying and it was only a few minutes along the coastal road. Nice beach with lovely clear water.

Paula L

We stayed at Jonathan and it was great Katerina and her family are lovely. I have tried to book again for next year but they are fully booked already. That in itself is a good recommendation. Going to Sunny Days instead but will visit Jonathan

Hi everyone! Going to Kos for the first time in a few weeks, staying at the Filio Apartments in Tingaki, has anyone been and can offer some good tips? Thanks for all your help!

Rich Y

Just come back from staying at the sunset apartments in Tingaki, it is an excellant place to stay. The staff are friendly and very helpful the rooms are basic but clean and tidy some with great views of the mountains. The pool which is were we spent most of the days recovering from the night before is excellent, but mind the deep end its "DEEP". Mascots bar is the place to go in the evening, lots of entertainment very night and the staff are friendly and a great laugh especially Yanis (apologies if thats spelt wrong). If you going soon say hi to Vanessa, she is the waitress outside the bar she is gorgeous.

Highly recommended

Chandler F

Tingaki is excellent! We stayed at Jonathon Appartments which is about a 6 minute walk from the restaurants. The big Fish Restaurant place does a great fish plate for two- so go there! And Esperos has great food and is also really friendly and welcoming. Lotsa lovly gift shops! :D We wanna go back!

Kim S

Hi, to everyone who has recently been to Tingaki, we're off in a couple of weeks and are staying at the Mythos Apartments. Could anyone tell us did they come across any turtles/tortoises whilst there. If so, where were they? My daughter has a fear of them, and if there are any we would like to know where to avoid. Thanks

Paula H

We don't like it in Tingaki - WE LOVE IT! Just come home from the second visit to Tingaki, first time stayed at the Villa Andrews and it was fabulous, this year we stayed at the Oasis Hotel very close to the salt lake. Oasis is extremely basic room wise so don't expect to be doing much self catering within your appartment and we would have liked the sheets changed a little earlier than they were but all in all it was a good base camp! If you get a vehicle of some sort, make sure you go to Platani on the road up to the Aslkipeon and call in to the Bodur Cafe/Bar to meet the MOST delightful man in Kos and taste his delicious apple pie and most definitely visit Captain Harris Beach on the road up to Paradise Beach - it is as good as paradise but far less busy and as usual, lond golden sandy beach with shallow gradient out into the sea so very safe for kids (just make sure you take some drinks as no bar down there although Captain Harris will do you Frappes for free!!). Restaurants to def pay a visit to are the Ikaros, the one just up from 7Dayz before the Sagitarius on the left (it's called a Greek name and don't ask me what it said!) and for a quick cheap meal - the Snack Bar opposite the Meni. The Meni was excellent but very commercialised, but the staff couldn't be nicer! Hard Moto will do you a Moped for 35€ for 3 days with helmets & fully insured - wear them and go carefully but we have never had any probs on the road even in the height of the holiday season. Zia is a MUST and please visit the Selina Restaurant away from all the tourist traps, they don't look much but are super people and good value meals. Please feel free to ask us anything about Tingaki or Kos, we have pretty much toured the whole Island twice over and are completely addicted to it!

Lisa S

sorry web address was wrong www.theokritostravel.gr

Lisa S

I never saw the hotel you are wanting to find but here is an web address of a tour operator in tingaki (she is english) and she may be able to help you find it www.thekritostravel.gr if you go to the contact section and email her.

Lisa S

We stayed at hotel angela at the far end of the main road away from all the bars etc but still only 10 mins from the lovely beach. We had a really good time and the locals are so friendly.

Richard L

We have stayed at Hotel Blue Sky on at least 4 occations over the last 10 years but are unable to locate it in any of the recent brochures. Has anybody any information?

E R

S Rees, we stayed in Ireni II in June and it was lovely. Not too far to walk to the beach and bars but well enough out for a good night sleep. Apartments were always kept spotless and owners very friendly.

Julia D

Just to say there are hole in the wall bank machines but kos town is twenty minutes by bus 1.30euros in sunset apartments you can change money and travellers cheques at reception. staff are great.

Anthony D

There are three cash machines in Tingaki but no actual bank

Sheila B

We have just returned from a week at the Sunset Aparthotel and have to say what a fantastic time we had. The hotel was lovely. Staff friendly, expecially Sula on Reception. Air conditioning was a bit pricy but well worth it. The children loved the pool. The best restaurant was Sagitarius, large menu very well priced and the staff were fabulous, especially with the children.

Amy N

Michelle H

Tingaki was great. Myself and shaun went on holiday here. Hoping to go back in Sept. What a chilled and laid back place to be. Memories and Grand Salle were run by great staff.

Lee M

no bank. only in kos town 7km away you can get cash from hole in the wall

Michael J

We are going to Tingaki in September 2004 , can anybody tell me if there is a bankin Tingaki

Julia D

Sunset; This holiday was very good. Rooms were clean, though
basic (cooking equitment is a bit to basic and the fridge does not
keep the food cold enough e.g milk is ok for just over a day.)
quite hard to buy fresh food like meat and fruit and veg in Tingaki
best going to kos town for it. But when you are there its great. All
you need is a bed as the weather is great so you are out all the
time. I am now looking up prices to go back next year as it was
the most relaxing holiday. Suited for all ages. The best
apart-hotel it Tingaki for a mile off. Try the sea food restraunt by
the beach Plori and the seafood restraunt in Kos kos Pelagos.
Both very good catering for all ages. Straight across the road in
a supermarket selling everything you need from food to clothes
and good quality too. They do tell you to buy all your designer
clothes and bags in Turkey but is is just the same in Kos even
cheaper. Only one major down side in the traffic there driving
skills are offal. Very fast, do not signal and drive in the middle of
the road and over take using four lanes. Bus service is great but
is "Greek maybe time." The staff in sunset are great very helpful
and their english is very good the maids do the best job adding
a personal touch to your sheets and night wear. Bar staff, Niki
and Yanis are very friendly and play a major part in entertaining
the 18-40year olds. Without relising it. 5 star hotel.

Gemma H

Stayed at the Angela apartments which were fantastic. The beach is lovely - lots of sunbeds so no need to race down there early. Approx. cost 5 euros per day for 2 beds and a brolly. If the weather is like we've just had you'll need the brolly! Constant 40 degrees + per day.
The trips we did through Theokritos travel (www.theokritostravel.gr) and they were fantastic. I could not recommend them enough, especially Rick who works such long hours but always has the time of day for you. Can recommend the island hop (approx 25 euros) - 3 islands, lots of sunshine and a meal included in the price. Well worth the day away from the resort. The sunset in Zia is also worth a visit (5 euros). The views are spectacular.
No bad meal whilst we were there but could especially recommend Milos, Dana and Ikaros (at the end of the beach).
There are 3/4 cash machines on the main road if you run out of cash. If 24 hour a day party animal this resort is not for you, although Kos Town is only 15 mins drive away. The bus service does run until about 11 at night so you'd only need a taxi return.
For everyone else head to Mascots!!

Donna S

Does anyone know the name of the apartments/hotel right next to the large supermarket - walking from the beach up it is just before the supermarket. Are there quite a lot of apartments in this area? I just walked to the supermarket and not beyond. Like the location but dont want to be 2 far from bars etc, going to be booking soon for sept 04 and would like a few to pick from.

Laura L

Can anyone tell me about Golden Sun apartments, Im beginning to think theyve disappeared into the sea cos all the other apts get a mention except them!!!!!!

Vivien L

can someone please help I saw a post recently giving the telephone number/ax number for the akti dimmy aparts in tingaki but I can't find it anywhere now. As anyone got the telephone number please - Vivien

Rachel S

Me and 4 other girls went her in the begining of july! We had an excellent time - it was really hot and the neach was really nice! Night life in Tingaki was fab all the local people and bar staff were really friendly - also food was tasty. for a livlier night i recomend going into Kos Town (on a bar crewl) that was the best night!

Gemma A

I love Tingaki. I had a fab holiday and was so sad to come back last week. We met so many nice people. If anyone meets a guy called Doni who works in Vasilis restaurant PLEASE PLEASE say that Gemma from Marianna apts said HI, coz he is a sweetheart but he did run over a cat on the way back from Kos Town when Greece won the cup!!

Mascot and Memories are good for the nightlife although they are low-key don't expect anything like Kardamena!!

There are plenty of restaurants my favourites were Ikaros, Spyros and Mediterannee.

Zia is a must coz the sunset is gorge and the village is so pretty.

Hope you all have as much fun as I did. Look forward to going again next year!!!

Jayne M

Paul B

Does anyone know what it roughly costs to get a taxi from the airport to Tingaki? Cheers!!!

Lisa J

hi this is for trever chandlor we went to the jonathon appartments in june and found them nice, there is no toaster or kettle but there is a coffee machine, microwave and hob which you can heat up the water. The towels are provided if you are taking your own make sure they arent white cause they get mixed up and the cleaner Katerina may take them away.katerina is so friendly if you need anything she will do her best to get it one nite we bbq'd on own round the pool and she provided the charcoal and utensils, you will have a great time.

Laura L

Anyone been to Golden Sun apartments in Tingaki? Is Tingaki good for teenagers?

Tracy and dean G

Tingaki is a gorgeous place to stay ideal for families and couples no large clubs just small bars with music. The beach is very nice waves can be a bit rough so watch small children. Found a 1st class cafe/bar called Margarita find the Konstantinos supermarket walk straight past this few mins after this you will come to the Margarita cafe/bar its owned by a man called Lefty and his wife a extreamly genuine couple who make you feel very welcome children are also made welcome which is always a bonus. The drink is cheap and the service is 1st class never made to feel like you should order another drink when you finish which is nice. We were there for two weeks this became our local as such a nice atmosphere. Say hi to Lefty and wife if you visis from Tyler and Keavys gang. All in all this is a great resort with plenty to do either a chilling day by the pool or the beach or take a trip to Turkey or horse riding owned by a very nice lady children also okay to ride. The quad bikes are worth hiring also the push bikes and car hire pretty cheap great way to see the island.

Liz S

Just back from a week in Tingaki, but I'm afraid I'm not converted! The Sunny Days apartments were clean and friendly, but much more than 500 metres from the beach as stated! Beware, not all apartments have air conditioning, and it's only on from 5pm to 2am, and only if they don't have a power cut or if they remember to switch it on! Air conditioning costs 40 euros for a week, no refunds if it doesn't work! We had a late flight home (2am) and it cost us 30 euros to get a late checkout room which I thought was a bit steep.

Amy

hi a message for jane hardy im going to mythos apts again for the third year i was just wondering if you could tell me who is there and who works behind the bar during the day many thanks amy

Jayne C

Hi Amy n Sarah

I kept in touch with one of the guys called Con who's been at the
Mascot bar every summer for the last few years. Last year he
was the comedian and his cousin, also called Con, was the
barman. As far as I know neither of them are there this summer
but I might be wrong.

Trevor C

My family and I are staying at the Jonathan studios in August.Could you please tell me if towels, kettle and toaster are supplied. How much does the air conditioning cost?. Lastly is there a cash machine within walking distance ?. Really looking forward to the holiday, hope someone can help.

Sue L

Tigaki is a great resort, lots of bars and taverna's, we stayed in Sunny Days apartments and they were superb. Hi to Costa, Isabella, Anna and Maria. The mozzies are really biting this year so take plenty of stuff and apply liberally. It is the first time in 5yrs we have been bitten! The beach is sandy, very long and you can wade out quite a way so quite safe for children and non-swimmers. It can get rather windy tho. 5-6euro for 2 sunbeds and brolly. The area is very flat and there are lots of bicycles, mopeds and quad bikes for hire. We hired bicycles for 2.50euro each for the day. Buses run approx every hour into Kos town 1.30euro. In the harbour there are lots of boats offering trips to various other islands as well as Turkey. There is a large supermarket called Constantino's which sells everything from baked beans to clothing and jewellery as well as the usual tourist gifts.

Pat G

Have just got back from Tingaki and am missing it so much already. It is a lovely place, there is peace and quiet, there are fantastic restaurants and there is an excellent club called Mascots which does just about everything especially fantastic music and an excellent welcome from two lovely people called Amy and Yannis who both make your visit to the Mascot Bar and Tingaki even better. I also recommend the trip to the volcano and the Greek night. I will be returning to Tingaki next year or next week if I win the Lottery!

Lisa J

my family and i have just come back for tingaki and it was fantastic we stayed in the jonathon appartments and they were great very clean the pool was great just over looking the beach we went with our two children aged 3 and 8 and they also enjoyed it.we didnt have a bad meal anywhere and we tried lots of different resturants as we were there for two weeks.the meni and grand salle resturants were really nice and everyone in all the resturants and bars were very friendly we will definatly go back the only down fall for us were the mosquitos so get those anti histamines taken.

Amy N

Nigel, elaine, rachel & c

CASH MACHINES- There are several cash machines in Kos - One was at the entrance to Tingaki Tours office. Hope this helps.

Debbie Q

Re Jayne Mottram. Have stayed in Tingaki once before though not at the sunset. Weather forecast for the day you arrive is 32. Some really nice tavernas and the beach is great for the kids, shallow water and a hint of a breeze. Kos town is worth a visit. The resort is ideal for families with no overly noisy discos etc but enough for people like me who still thinks they are young enough for a good night out. We are staying at the Sunset this year and arrive a couple of days after you, have heard it is clean and well run. A good taverna is the Meditaranee just down the road from you. You can let me know if it is still as good, seafood pasta was great, but no starter or dessert, have a great time.

Angie H

The sunset hotel is good. We stayed at the thiminaki's up the road and it has a nice pool and bar area. The staff are also friendly and it is near everything.

Angie H

YOU ALL WILL LOVE TINGAKI!! we really enjoyed it..just come back and it was great!

Jayne M

can anyone tell me what the weather is like in tingaki kos at the moment, i am going in two weeks time, ant comments on the island would be helpful too, we are going to stay at the sunset aparthotel, tingaki

Leslie M

Reply to holly hookings,
Yes Holly there are two cash machines, one is in the main square, it is situated to the right hand side of a pizza restaurant.
The other is half way up the main street on your left if your walking away from the beach. Works sporadically, however, have necer had a problem with the one in the main square.
Hope this helps.

Holly H

Is there a cash machine in Tingaki? or if not where is the nearest one?

Jayne C

This is to Amy and Sarah - Con's not going to be at the Mascot
Bar this summer if you were looking forward to seeing him.

Nigel, elaine, rachel & c

Just got back from Tingaki with my family. Stayed 1 week at The Mayflower Apartments. Mayflower is excellent , great staff, wonderful pool, nice rooms and good snacks to see you through he day. This was our first trip to Kos but we have just re-booked for 2 weeks in October. Tingaki is a lovely place to stay. Great beach, nice bars resturants and good mix of family groups and older people. No nightclubs or disco. Really relaxing. Would recommend for family hols. See you there!

Nick

Has anyone stayed at the Angela hotel apartments?? I am thinking of going there this year for two weeks, is there plenty to do at Tingaki?

Lynne W

In reply to your request for info on the Aslanis Apartments. We were there from 14th to 21st May 2004. When we arrived we thought it was a bit out of the way - nearest shop 20 mins walk, but the place is really clean, staff very friendly and atmosphere great for families or couples. You can get the bus into Tingaki or Kos Town just down a quiet road (5 mins walk from Apartments). Tingaki has a lovely beach with lots of restaurants and bars - the people are really friendly there - would recommend Memories Bar if you want night life. Kos Town is lovely in the day and very lively at night. We were a party of 3 girls so couldnt tell you about what to do with kids but the Water Park is recommended for a day out. Can't wait to go back again.

Nicola J

I'm am going to Marmari next week (03/06/2004) and staying at The Aslanis Studios. Can anyone tell me what it is like? It looks pretty quiet from the brochure, which I don't mind so long as it is easy to get out and about if I want to. I'm taking my 3 year old daughter and a friend. Anyone got anything to say - good or bad?

Caroline G

BENJAMIN SAWKINS.

I STAYED IN tINGAKI LAST YEAR WITH MY BOYFRIEND AND WE ARE GOING BACK IN 3 WEEKS TIME. IT IS A FANTASTIC PLACE TO GO FOR COUPLES WITH A FEW GOOD BARS AND LOVELY PLACES TO EAT...THERE IS ALSO A GOOD JEWELLERY SHOP SO YOU COULD BY A GOOD PREZZY FOR YOUR GIRLFRIEND.
WE STAYED IN THE SUNSET APARTHOTEL LAST YEAR WHICH DO THE MOST FANTASTIC MILKSHAKES. THIS YEAR WE ARE STAYING IN THE MARIANNA APARTMENTS WHICH ARE ALSO REALLY REALLY NICE.
HOPE YOU ENGOY YOUR TIME THERE AS MUCH AS WE DO.

Lynne W

Just got home from Kos - we stayed at Marmari which was very quiet and found Tingaki was brilliant both in the day and at night. There was a mix of couples and groups of friends. The beach is fabulous and would recommend Memories bar at night. (Tell Mike Lynne and Debbie from England sent you!) Friendly staff and great atmosphere with brilliant music (I thought anyway). Would recommend a trip to Kos Town at night time go to Bar Street wide mix of bars there also everyone v. friendly. Kos Town is also excellent for shopping. Would definitely go again and stay in Tingaki this time. ENJOY YOUR HOL.

Benjamin S

i am looking to go to tingkai in around June or July, I am looking to take my girlfriend with me! WE just want a nice chilled out holiday with a pool, beach couple of restaurants bars etc, if anyone out there can help me & give me some idea as to whether Tingaki is good for this it would be appreciated. Also any tips as to where to stay to be in a good location. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Louise P

my friend and me stayed at Aspro Spiti in Tingaki and can only rate it as excellent. Nicos and his family run it well, and are very friendly. His family visited one days and stayed by the pool, which means it must be good. They were keen to help with any questions and put on a great bbq one night. The restaurants are all high standard, especially Grand Salle, all three waiters were really lovely. Food and prices excellent. Also visit George and his sister in 7Days bar, very cheerful.
Beach clean, but to be honest we stayed mainly by the pool. Enjoy

Ray L

going to tingaki end of june.any imformation about filio apartments can only find it in brochure

Steve P

We have just returned from a week in the fili apartments. They are very clean and have two great pools. It is more a family type setup as all the kids played together.Be warned though it is a good 30mins walk into tingaki although there is a bus from outside the complex that costs 90 cents. I would definately recommend the fili apartments.

Philip E

Hi to you all.
We are booked for a last minute deal to this resort, hopefully someone might read this as I'd like a bit of info on this resort so I can go knowing what to expect.

Has anyone any knowledge good or bad about the Aspro Spiti Apartments?

Is there much to interest childern in the area?

What is the local entertainment like?

Everybody seems to rate the area very well. Is this true?

Has anybody got an idea of the cost of an average evening meal for 2 adults and 1 child?

Is the area good value for money?

Do you get much for the Euro?

Jayne M

you r gonna love sunny days in tigaki

Kym T

We had relatives staying in Jonathon Studios. It was peaceful and has a out door pool. It has a beach right outside, though not as nice as the bit further on. The bar is closed a lot and there is no shelter out side. It is out of the main street. It certainly is quiet. We stayed in Sunset hotel and it was excellent.

Gemma A

I need to know if there are people around my age (22) who go to Tingaki. Is it mainly a couples resort? I'm leaving my boyfr behind and going with the fam as we're booked to go later in the year. Also, what are the Marianna apts like? thats where I'm staying (23/06) for TWO WEEKS to watch the footie and get a tan!! COME ON!!!!

Caroline G

Tingaki was so good last year that i am going back in June.
the Restaurants are lovely, the locals are very friendly, the beach is beautiful, the shops are charmiing, especially the supermarket which sells everything from food and newspapers to designer clothes and eletric fans.
i saw no creepy crawlies during my stay and found the weather gorgeous (boiling hot).
i had a fantastic time and i highly recommend it to anyone from couples to families!

Joyce P

For those of you who haven't been to Kos Island, It is one of the prettiest and friendly places i've ever been. Tingaki is a small resort, with some hotels and appartments, restaurants and supermarkets, and a beautiful beach. To be honest i loved staying in tingaki, it was peaceful and very hot! The locals are very friendly and helpful, and if you are finding it too quiet then you can jump on a bus(15 mins) to the more busy Kos Town! Someone asked what the weather is like in May, well i was there in May last year and it was very very hot! between 27 -35 all holiday. Hope u all have a lovely time!

Julie H

The Johnathen apartments are in the Kosmar brochure we are goingin june

Laura B

there is not really alot to do on the island for young children, there is a water park, and lots of beaches. as you are not staying in a hotel wih entertainment i suggest that when you go you take some activities for them to do eg. colouring, toys, games and books. you can hire bikes as that is how most people get around in kos and it is safe because they have special cycle paths. i hope i haven't put you off going on you holiday because it is a beautiful place to go . i hope this is a help to you Rosie Joines.

Sean B

Have stayed at Mariannas twice @ will go again.Meni v.nice too.
A nice resort for beach, food and relaxing. Not really a singles
resort,better suited for couples.

I am going to Kos on the 12th May for a week and we are staying in Tingaki. Unfortunately we do not know where we are staying until we arrive other than it will be a three star self catering studio! Can anyone tell me what the weather will be like over there, will the bars, shops etc all be open then, and whether the watersports will be running? Thanks :-)

Hayley and J

We stayed in the Irini 2 studios and apartments last May. There was 13 of us altogeather ranging from 45 year olds to 6 year old. It was great we had a really good time and anybody staying here will to. The apartments are not in the middle of nowhere. Tingaki is one big long street with the beach at the bottom its like a T shape with all the bars, restraunts, supermarkets and apartments on the long strech of straight road then the beach at the bottom wehich strecxhes for miles. Irini 2 are in the centre of the resort (on the main road to beach 5 min walk. There is a taverna opposite and several around the area along with a few bars. There are lots of little shops with the big supermarket 2 mins up the street. You can also hire bikes and quad bikes which we all enjoyed. You can here no noise in your appartments at night apart from the donkey in the field and the chickens from the house next door but you soon get used to it. We were lucky evenough to get the appartments facing the pool. There are great views from here and a brilliant holiday overall. You must visit the Mascot Bar its the best. They hold karakoe, comody and disco nights your sure to have a good time. Little Con is brilliant he always made us laugh. Chris (the doorman) is also very funny and makes sure you have a grwat time. We cannot wait to go back in 2005.

Phil J

I AM GLAD TO HEAR JONATHAN APPTS HAD A GOOD REVIEW NOW I REALLY CANT WAIT FOR MY HOLIDAY THANK YOU URSULA

Dorry R

What Can i say abiut MENI restaurant. I forst came to tingaki about four years ago and the MENI restaurant was the second restaurant that i tried. AFTER THIS, at least nice tries out of teen, WHETHER FOR BREAKFAST, LUNCH OR DINNER, i return to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and service provided BY GABRIEL, SIA, IRENE, GIORGOS. If you come a week a year or more later, They will remember you, which makes you feel very welcome. AND THEN THERE’S MICHAEL, THE CRAZY CHEF!! whatever you order it will be preparedand cooked to your liking with the added bonus of some free entertainment from this friedly man

Peter S

EVERY YEAR IN SEPTEMBER WE SPEND TWO WEEKS TO THE ISLAND OF KOS, THIS IS THE FIFTEENTH YEARS HERE. MOST OF THE YEARS WE STAY IN MENI BEACH IN TINGAKI EVERYBODY AT THE HOTEL’S STAFF HAS BECOME A FRIEND OF US AND THE NICE SERVICE AND THE COZY FACILITIES ALL AROUND THE PLACE HAVE MADE US COME HERE EVER AGAIN AND WE HOPE FOR MANY SUMMERS IN THE FUTURE.

Joanathan M

. WHEN I FIRST CAME TO TINGAKI I DIDN’T KNOW EVEN WHERE IT WAS!! MENI BEACH HOTEL IS IN THE CENTER OF TINGAKI. CLOSE TO THE BEACH, SUPERMARKET, BARS, BIKE HIRE, AND OF COURSE JUST NEXT TO THE MOST BEST RESTAURANT IN TIGAKI. THE ROOMS ARE VERY NICE WITH A/C, TV, KITCHEN, FRIDGE, AND MORE. THE PEOPLE THERE ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.

Adele S

I am going to stay at the Miros Studios, Tingaki, Kos, in June, anyone want to suggest where is good, please do?

Cheers

Adele,

Dave W

This is a message for Alana A. If you set off walking from Tingaki to Kos town then it would take you about 3 days for the round trip. There is an excellent bus service which will only cost you about 1 Euro if I remember. If you havn`t been to Tingaki before (I suspect this to be the case ) then you will love it. Went last september for 2 weeks and can`t wait to get back.

Amy N

Hi, my wife and i have been to Kos about 15 times, Tingaki is by far the most pleasant place to stay and value for money. the beach is miles long no over crowding, naturist if you like. the Meni Beach Hotel, resteraunt run by Mike and his family is by far the best value and variety, cooked to your own liking by an expert. Big Mike.

Louise S

i stayed at the marianna with my boyfriend and i must say that it is one of the best kept in tingaki the people who run them are very friendly and make you feel very welcome.

please be aware the the chinese and mexican don't actually hire chefs they use a microwave sorry couldn't help it listen for the beep next time. best restraunts are saggitarius and medetarainee.

any one that was there at the beggining of july will agree that july is the best time to go. Visit the mascot bar as it is the best night out in the town!!

Sarah R

I stayed at Jonathon Studios & apartments booked 2 days before the holiday started with Kosmar in June 2003. The pool wasn't completed until 2 days before we left. We were first allocated a ground floor studio that had just been painted but our clothes were almost wet with damp and it was already showing on the walls as damp patches. Tingaki is built on a salt marsh and the studios are built below ground level. Kosmar never offered us any refund or compensation in the resort or back home. Jonathon Studios may be ok now the pool is built as long as you get a first floor apartment. I would not consider it to be "highly recommended".

Sue V

My husband and I went away for the 1st time without our 9 year old as it was a special aniversary. We stayed at the FILI appts and can honestly say that it was superb !!!!

Paul and his family made us welcome and had time to deal with any queries that we had. The studios were clean and our outlook over the mountains to one side and the sea to the other was just what we wanted. The 3 swimming pools ( all freshwater ) were clean and the plants surrounding the appt complex gave a very relaxed and well cared for enviroment to stay in.

We chilled out that much we ate at the Fili each night and didn't bother going into ' town' of an evening. We made our way through the entire menu and drank the local Domestica wine one night which rendered me numb it was soooo strong.

I loved the time of year we went and would recommend going at that time of the year as its quieter and more relaxed. Paul's catchphrase was ' I thank you first ' every time you said it to him.

By the end of the week I had taught him a few more welsh words than he already knew and his welsh accent had come on a treat !

I'd love to go back and will take our little back with us next time.

What a lovely place and a lovely resort

EXCELLENT

Sue

The weather was very good to say it was the end of the season, we had a very good time because the people are really friendly and the beach is the best. We visted a few other resorts in Kos but none as good as Tingaki. We stayed in the SUNSET HOTEL very nice good pool and very clean,. Then we eat most nights in UNIQUE very nice resturant like my friend Kim said it's a most, Very good food, Nice waiter and very new and clean.

Kim R

Hey I went to Tigaki at the end of August with my boyfriend for 2 weeks, we stayed in the Irinna appartments, which are very clean, the guy who owns it is a bit funny towards the enlish but he has 2 daughters who both speak wonderful engilsh especially Vicky (She will help you with anything at all)and had the time of our lives, Tigaki is great because the resort is so small, everywhere has easy access. I will make a couple of recommedation, if you are after a quiet night out try Rendez Vous bar, the guy who owns it is soooo friendly and it has sky so you want miss out on any of the footie, he also lets you stay till whenever you want, one night we even stayed until 6 in the morning. If you do go to Rendez Vous ask him to make you Niagra (best cocktail in the world) However if its a loud night you are after, then pop down to see Yanni at the Mascot Bar, especially if you are a Karaoke fan. Anyone who was there the same time as us will remember us Donna and Dan (Pam) I couldnt get him off the stage. The staff are great and we will be back soon. A BIG HIYA TO BIG CON, LIL'CON DJ GEORGIE 'G', THEO, KRITOV, COSTAS, NOEL, AMEE AND ANGELA!!!

Iain Y

My wife and I went with our 17,15,14 yearold kids. They want to go back to Tigaki. We stayed at Angela Apts very basic, and small pool but it is only a place to sleep. They want to go back next year, might stay at Meni beach hotel looks clean, nice pool and great food.Mascot bar and Yanis guarantee a great night out.Great restruants and great beach. Most relaxing holiday ever.Lots of trips some really worth a go.
Euro rate making it slightly expensive for family my size. But saving up to go back and visit Mascot bar and the one with all the tellies to watch the footie.Really shouldnt say too much and try and keep the place a secret.Wouldnt go to Kos town or the resorts to the south unless you enjoy 18-30 type stuff.

Robert W

My daughters have always had a great time in Tingaki. This year 5 of us stayed at the Marianna .My daughter insisted that we went there so we booked early..Before Christmas! The place is very well run and the old chap keeps a close eye on things.Nice swimming pool, the area is swept/moped every day(except Sunday). The rooms are kept clean and there are various screens/doors to keep out most of the mosquitoes. The daughers Maria/Stella do most of the looking after people bit.Stella will cook you simple and cheap food for lunch..mostly English type stuff.Best food..Mediterranee

Janet C

I have been going to Tingaki for 14 years twice a year, we stay at the Marianna which I can give top marks to for friendliness and cleanliness. The Island has a charm of it's own.

Alan R

JONATHON STUDIOS - fairly new property situated on the coast road about 3 to 400 yards from Tingaki Square. Passed them most days on my way to our favourite spot on the beach. The beach is opposite them and they look OK.

Alan R

Just had a super 2 weeks at the Ariadni Studios in Tingaki. These are just behind the Sunset Hotel at the top of the main street. They are set back from the road (200 yards) and are set in their own gardens. There are 20 studios on two levels. We had a ground floor studio and had a nice lawn outside the patio. The studios were basic but clean and only about a couple of years old. The owner was there most days and was very approachable. Facilities such as pool etc at the Sunset available for Ariadni customers. The Sunset has a luggage room for use on the day of returning. Very useful when your flight is at 3.30 in the morning.
Tingaki consists of a main street with loads of tavernas etc along with truly tacky tourist shops. Better to get stuff in Kos Town itself. Tried many of the tavernas but our favourite was the Taverna Syrtaki. Proper traditional Greek Food, no pizzas or chips. It is run by Lakis and his wife Adreana. Lakis is completely mental and often starts singing and dancing at the drop of a hat. Syrtakias actually means "Dancing Man". He is also a great practical joker. When busy, as it often is, service can be a bit slow. Who cares as the food is superb and worth waiting for, besides who wants to rush when on holiday. The Grand Salle is also worth a visit.
Went on a couple of trips booked through Theokritos Travel on the main street opposite the Meni Hotel. All the tours are guided by themselves and they have there on air conditioned bus driven by the owner Nikos. Went on the island hop to Kalymnos, Plati and Pserimos. A busy but thoroughly enjoyable day. Rik, a young chap from Lancashire, was our guide and had lots of information about the islands. Also went on the touristy Greek night with them. Well worth the 25 euros. Food was out of this world, more winr than you could drink and non stop cabaret of greek singing and dancing. I can recommend using the Theokritos gang (Nikos, Louise, Sharon and Rik) for any trips or anything you want to know.
Would I go back. The answer would have to be a big fat YES.

Carole M

no replies yet on the Jonathon studios; I notice on this site and another quite a few enquiries, has nobody seen them or stayed there. Quite worrying! From the picture in the brochure people seem to be sitting outside so although new could have opened this year possibly.

Dave W

Hi all
Just got back from Kos where we stayed at the Sunset hotel in Tingaki. Had a great time. The main supermarket is just over the road and is reasonably priced. The locals are extremely friendly and can`t do enough for you. Saw more footy than we ever do back home.(The Mrs is a Man U fan so wasn`t too difficult).Sigh. One word of warning to any heavy drinkers out for the night. All the bars/tavernas only seem to have one loo for lads and one for the ladies. They don`t have urinals anywhere unless you sneek out the back. Quite a few of the bars have enormous wide screen tellys which are always on full volume for any football matches so if you want a more peaceful time stay somewhere just outside the town centre. The Sunset is an ideal place for this. Only 5 minutes walk to all the action but far enough away to get some sleep if you need it. We hired a car for the whole 2 weeks. A bit of an extravagence but well worth it in the long run. I wouldn`t advise going to Kardamena either to visit or stay. Paradise beach is exactly what it says on the label. An absolute must. Everything costs a little bit more but worth it. Kefalos beach was great too if you don`t mind a slightly pebbled beach and the water gets very deep quite close to the shore so not too ideal for young children. We went there about 4 times and it was always very quiet. Captain Johns is right on the beach there and is reccommended for food etc. We spent very little time at the beach in Tingaki but it seemed ok. Do go on the day trip to Turkey. It`s only 30 minutes on the hydrofoil but it is a rather long day and tiring on the feet so if you go wear some decent walking shoes. Some people on our trip wore flip flops and were nearly crippled at the end.I`ve noticed that you can get some excellent deals if you leave it until the last minute to book. Thomas Cook/JMC seem to rule the roost at the Sunset Hotel and late season you can get a 2 bed appartment self catering for as little as £150/160 PP. An absolute bargain. If you`re reading this purely to look for reccommendations then look no further. We will have no hesitation in going back there.

Holly

Hi all, went to Tingaki in August and we loved it. we stayed at Akti Dimmis Studios and it was great the place was nice and clean and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. The pool was nice and so was the food. The beach was accross the road, sunbeds were 6e a day, the sea was shallow, warm and safe for kids. The town centre was 10 mins walk from the hotel. There is a varitey of restaurants and bars we liked the 'Mediterranee' best we went there 3 times, food was excellent the staff were so friendly and they gave you free drinks after your meal! Shops were full of touristy junk and the designer wear was all fake(little disappointing. We recommend that you go on The Island Tour that was good, price was expensive but it was worth it. We also went to the waterpark we enjoyed it but make sure you use lots of suncream especially on children. The food inside was expensive it included burgers, chips etc. All in all we loved Kos it was great and we will definatley be going back.

Anne S

We just visited Tingaki in the evening and found the most marvellous restaurant called the Mediterranee. You will get served the best food on the whole island here, brilliant friendly service, and just a bit special. Go there, you will not be disappointed.

Emma D

Just come back from a week here - it was me and my mate Amanda. I must say, we did find it very couply and felt a bit out of place, but just head to the Mascott Bar and they will make your hols!

The resort is really just one road with loads of restaurants (very reasonably priced and not to pushy) and tourist shops selling some quite horrendous tack!

I would definitely recommend this place - yes its not as lively as Kos Town or Kardemena, but for two twenty-something girls it was just right - the beach is very close but not the best have seen. my advice would be invest in a car/scooter and spend a couple of days exploring - not too much to see - definitely go up into the mountains - you find much classier choice of presents etc, and the views are brilliant.

Would definitely think about going back...

Nicky W

We stayed at the Ariadni Apartments, very spacious, clean and quiet. Kitchen equipment very basic. Apartments themselves are set back off the main road. There is no reception etc but you can hire safety deposit boxes from the Sunset Hotel at a reasonable price, also you can use their swimming pool which is kept clean.
It was approx a 15-20 minute walk to the beach, which was really nice and clean, nice cooling breeze, some days more windy than others. Sea was nice and shallow.
A good choice of restraunts all good value for money. A good resort for those looking for a nice relaxing holiday (Kos town 15 mins bus ride away 1.30 euros).

Carole M

We have booked to go to Jonathons Studios in Tingaki next June - they look new in the brochure.
Can anyone tell us what they are like and where they are situated exactly.
Also how do I get a road map of the area and cost of bike hire for 2 weeks.

Sarah R

as i said before it was great.the lass that wrote a comment before me i met her there. she only lives about am hour away from me. we are really good mates i am even goin back with her and her parents next year to the mythos appartments they are great.hellooooooooooo george!!!!and every1 else who work there we will get you all in the pool next year not just 1 of you! we will be off back to our local the mascot bar(chicks ove it) and yes we did its fantasic lots of free drinks.anyway see u all next year mytos n mascot love ya xxx

Tracy R

a lovely place, good for buying little gifts and lots of lovely restaurants.good for children, all in all ahd a brill holiday and would recommend it

Hayley A

We stayed at Mythos apartments which is on the main highstreet. Excellent accommodation, pool was lovely and the rooms were spacious and clean. Tingaki is a fantastic place to chill out. Best places to eat were the Versilles, Hotel Meni and Sagitarius. A visit to the Pergola bar (next to the hotel meni)to try one of Andy's specials is a must!. Beach was great, nice and clean and shallow. Paradise beach was fantastic, and the watersports were good fun!. The sunset at Zia was beautiful and we also got up at 5.30am to see the sunrise over Tingaki beach, which was superb. We loved Tingkai that much, that we are going back next year!.

Ellen W

What a gr8 relaxing holiday. The beach is a real sandy beach with gr8 sunbeds but its very windy. The locals are eager to please and there's loads of restaurants and shops to choose from. Take your driving licence and hire a car (or a moped or quad)to see the whole island, there are some bits that are not geared towards tourism at all. You have to see the Zia sunset. There are loads of trips , we loved the Greek night, the volcano and what a bonus visiting another country! (day trip to Turkey!)The Blue Sky Hotel was great too...thanks for the reassurance before I went!

FOR ALL OF THOSE LOOKING FOR BLUE SKY APARTMENTS THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM http://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk

Hotel Blue Sky - Tingaki
Operator and Date: Thomson- Oct 2002
Resort Rating: Excellent
Accommodation Rating: Excellent
My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We got a last minute deal and stayed at the Hotel Blue Sky on the outskirts of Tingaki. Considering it was only a two star hotel, we had a fantastic time there- it is a family run hotel and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Be sure to say hi to Manos who runs both the bar and the reception at night, he'll stay up as long as you do so no need to worry about last orders!

The rooms are fairly small and basic, but clean and with lovely views (either of the mountains or the sea ). The swimming pool is large and very clean, Niki (works during the day) is constantly doing the rounds, if so much as leaf is spotted in the water then its tidied up! Admittedly, we went in low season, so there was never any problems with getting a sunbed(really comfy and free of charge).

We stayed bed and breakfast, for a small extra charge you could get a fried breakfast, the eggs were lovely because they were laid by the chickens which belong to the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for children, its not geared up to accomodate them but that suited us fine as we wanted a quiet time. Neither would I recommend it to party animals, its very quiet but has a lovely atmosphere, we met lots of friends there and it felt like home.

In reply to ellen waites question about the Blue Sky Hotel this is a typical Greek family run hotel with about 37 rooms on two floors. The rooms are small but clean and tidy.If you have a room at the rear you will look out on the salt lakes and the sea, you also overlook the hotels pool which is a plus feature with plenty of sunbeds.Snacks can be purchased all day until about 8pm and are reasonably priced. The bus stop to Kos is right outside the hotel and runs about every thirty minutes. The beach is about a twenty minute walk from the hotel, so make sure you take all you need with you the first time.If you want a island tour ask the barman Costas about Roger an ex British Policeman who now lives in Tigaki, his tours are excellent and reasonably priced.Roger also does walking tours of local villages for the more energetic, on one of these tours you will be sure to stop off at the taverna Asfendiou run by Nikos and his wife Nicky in Lagoudi.

I see two questions about but no answers to the same question!...I've just booked a last minute hol...leaving in two weeks.....please doe anyone know anything about the "Blue Sky Hotel"???....I've read lots of good comments about Tingaki on this page but can find nothing of this hotel. It's just me and my 8 yr old going

We have just returned from Tingaki and had a really good holiday. The only down part really was that the Thimanakis apartments where we were staying were close to the main road, and you got quite a lot of noise. Tingaki itself is good for shopping and nights out, but we hired a push bike for 3 euros each and went to nearby Marmari (the roads are flat!!) and thought that was a better beach. Very windy on all beaches in the afternoon, so feels cool- take care you can still get burn't!! Would recommend Mascot bar for entertainment evenings, and a visit to Thermi natural springs if you have use of car.

I can't access the can u help button. Can anyone give me the following information:

Has anyone stayed at the FILI APPTS in Tingaki? What are they like?
In October what are the mosquitos/bugs like are there many about?
Where's the best place for a good fish menu.
Where's the best place to eat/drink and be merry.
Is it worth hiring a car.
Is it worth going on the Turkey trip and how much does it cost and who's the best to book the Turkey trip with.
Are there any other ' must do' trips

thanks

Sue

In response to Phil Blakeman.
There is a cash machine which you can get money out of with a mastercard or visa in Tingaki.
It is right on the row of shops/restaurants by the beach.
Ask anyone around that area and they'll direct you to it.

Me and the wife are heading to the hotel blue sky on the 26th of july. can anybody give me any info on the place.

the beach is the best on the island if there isnt any wind you can get sand blastes if there is. the night life is ok a few nice bars but some are exspensive 2 baileys with ice not even doubles in mascots bar 10 euros mediteranee for food we thought was the best for seafood for lunch try the last on the left as you go down to beach before you get to the round about with the chickens on the spit goog food and not exspensive not much for the kids to do just pool or beach nothing on a night

Gping to Tingaki in a weeks' time. Does anyone know if there are any cash machines, which takes mastercard in the resort, or do you have to go into Kos?

Kerry T

First visit to Kos. Can anyone give me any information on the Illios apartments in Tingaki. The other hotels in Kos have got good reports but none on Illios apartments i'm getting a bit worried.

Hi all
we are heading out to Tingaki in August 28, and we were wondering what is Tingaki beach like for snorkeling, are there many fishes etc.
also we would like to see some pictures of the area.
Please get in touch, thanx.

This is in response to Kims questions.
We are sisters (age 17 and 21) and we were worried that there wasn't going to be alot to do in tingaki as the brochure said that it was a small quiet place. It is small but it depends what you want out of a holiday. We had a great time. Spent the day by the pool or the beach (the beach is lovely and sandy and has a nice breeze) and then in the evenings we went to one of the many restaurants for a meal. The restaurants pretty much all do english food as there are so many english holiday-makers there. There are burgers, chips, pizzas and steaks on most menus and there is bound to be more than one restaurant to suit all tastes. We recommend the sagittarius restaurant (which is about a 10-15 minute walk along the road on the right hand side when you are walking away from the beach) you can see our review of this on the restaurant review part of this website.
After eating we recommend the mascot bar. This is a good place for the whole family as it is very friendly and great fun. Many nights have entertainment such as karaoke or comedy nights and these are enjoyed by all ages.
Overall we had a great holiday and would highly recommend the resort.
Any further questions - just ask!!

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Dimitri's Beach apartments(Akti Dimis). Although the resort was being plagued by swarms of insects during the early evenings we still had a good time. Tingaki is ideal if you want to get away from it all and just laze on the beach all day and then chill out over a good meal in one of the many fine restaurants in and around the town before settling down with a bottle or two of Mythos.
If you need to hear an English voice in the evenings, visit the bar in front of the Meni Beach Hotel. Your host Andy Cox has been on the island for many years and is a fountain of local knowledge and is very helpful. The restaurant in the hotel is well worth a visit.
This was our second visit in four years to Tingaki and our fourth visit to the island in as many years. I think it is safe to say that we have fallen for Kos and the people who make you feel very, very welcome.

Michele H

We love Tingaki, probably why we've been going back for 6 years in a row.Changed quite a bit since the first time but still love it. We have 2 boys who are now 11 & 7 they love it been to lots of other Greek resorts ourselves & with the boys but our hearts are here. Been 1st 2 weeks in May a couple of times but prefer last 2 weeks in October just right, not too busy, weather great. Brill starting the winter with a tan.Beach excellent, resturants esp. Dana superb.

I know I have already put a comment on, but I have just read the questions below by Kim Curson so I thought I would answer then as I am bored at work! There are plenty of things to do even if you don't want to do any of the day trips. The place is not expensive, we ate out every night and for two main meals, bread and a bottle of wine you are looking at about £13 or 21 euors. One of the cheaper places is called Rodni and can be found on the main street at the top end (away from the beach). Most restaurants have a kids menu and serve all the usual English food. Hope this has helped.

A fantasic place! We are both in our mid twenties and have dones all the clubbing holidays. If you like to go on holiday with a nice beach, fantasic restaurants and lots of good bars then Tingaki is for you. We went the first two weeks of June. Weather was great for the whole two weeks, very rarely saw a cloud. I have to tell you about the best bar. It is called Katras bar. It is situated on the main street, you can't miss it as it has loads of red soft seats outside. The owner "Mike" is a fab guy, very friendly and always smiling. We never left sober due to the fact he gives you about 7 free shots a night on average! Ask for the "green ghost" it is free and it tastes amazing. The bar also has a great pool table. The waiter is called "Jim" and speaks very good English and always likes to have a chat. If you enter the bar you will never leave! Final note to say that Kos town is worth a visit.

MY FAMILY AND I ARE GOING TO TINGAKI FOR TWO WEEKS ON 23RD JULY - WITH US WE HAVE 3 CHILDREN 17,15 AND 11YRS. FEW QUESTIONS!! IS THERE PLENTLY TO DO? IS IT EXPENSIVE? IS THERE ENGLISH TYPE FOOD AVAILABLE - ONE FUSSY CHILD!!! AND FINALLY, HAS ANYBODY STAYED AT THE BLUE SKY HOTEL?

ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE BRILL' INC. PHOTOS

Went back to Tingaki in May (2nd time, 1st July/August 02). Already planning my return in September.

Where to start???!!!!

The beach is lovely, and the water shallow.

The nightlife is OK! The bars are all open late. Mascot and Memories are little clubs. All the bars have to shut their doors at Midnight so the street may look dead, but it's a different story behind closed doors. I recommend visiting Michis Place if you fancy good music (Stones etc). Head to the beach and turn left at the roundabout (behind Dana's).

During the day it's nice and quiet, and due to the laws on music it's nice and peaceful at night.

There are the normal niknak shops and a number of super markets.

All I can say is love it.

I also recommend eating at the blue diamond. It's about 3 miles outside Tingaki along the coast road (towards Kos Town). Might be difficult finding a taxi driver that knows where it is.

Sorry, the guys worked in the taverna on the right. Anyway, please ignore the survey I had to fill out as it applies to a Tingaki that has no doubt changed beyond imagination.

June R

Went to Tingaki approx,14 years ago when it was a tiny tiny resort. Two tavernas set around the square, one to the left and one to the right as you face the beach with a general store and tourist information behind you. Three guys I remember who worked in the taverna on the left are - Vasilius, who I think ran it with his family, Mikhail who normally worked out of season at a museum in the city - maybe Athens and Nikos who owned some apartments around there. Great guys, had a lot of fun!
Has the place changed much??? Please let me know.

Lisa W

What a beautiful and friendly place. The main street was enchanting, just wandering down, looking into the little shops, tavernas and restaurants. Everyone was so friendly, will definitly go back if I get the chance.

Virginia N

Yes! Spiros & Nikos, we can remember many a great night at their restaurant. I know what you mean. This is our thrid time and yes we're hooked. Our son, partner & baby are coming with us this time, they have heard so much about Spiros they already feel they know him.
Tingaki is a great place and not just for family holidays its great for 'young' one too. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

Amanda G

We stayed at the Odessa studio aparts located approx 3km from centre. Very quiet and clean, set in its own gardens affording views of the mountains. A narrow sand/shingle beach just 200yrds away. Bike hire recommended and Kos town is only 20mins ride along a very quiet coast road. Well worth a stay
