I have been to Peros/Mayflower complex many times and in fact I will be returning in a few weeks time, as I would not go any where else! I have made many friends in Kefalos and look forward to seeing them all again very soon!

The apartments are very clean, laundry is changed on a regular basis and also the apartments are also cleaned regular as well. I am sorry but you would be hard pushed to fault this place or the people.click to enlarge

I now know Dimitri and his family well and they are always there to help me when I am staying there which I am very grateful to them for. I enjoyed the fresh pumkin fritters that Dimitri made for me, being a qualified chef and catering manager i can say they were good! I normally have my breakfast at the bisrto area next to the pool and I enjoy a fully cooked breakfast. Dimitri and Kristula also gave me fresh peaches for my room, they could not have been any fresher, coming from the peach tree that was just to the side of my balcony! There is lots to do in Kefalos, places to eat and drink. Dimitri's brother John, owns Capitan Johns where I can tell you I eat on regular basis. The fried cheese is awesome and a firm favourite of mine! Kristula provides impomtu entertainment by performing the taditional greek dance with dinning guests.

The weather is also great and hot, so there is nothing like sitting by the pool with a cool lemonade. Other favourite foods are soft baclavas. A spun pastry with soft nuts and soaked in honey, (honey does not taste like strong honey) what a treat for someone who does not like honey!

Kefalos is a place to chill out and a couple of night clubs togetherf with the locals night club which I went to the last time I was in town, it was a great night. Kefalos is not a place for those seeking the party places like Kos Town, not really a place for toddlers either, it is best for people 25 + that want to recharge their batteries.

If you want a heaven on earth and where people are truely friendly, then the Peros/Mayflower complex is the place to be for a great break.

I have a load of pictures of the memories of Kefalos, so anyone looking for a reminder of that deep blue sea, a sunny haze hanging over the sea, and the place that is Kefalos left me know.

I am sure there has been a few changes since I was last back, Yurgo will have grown up a bit more together with his sister, my best friend Yianni has his car and his dad and Gilly have Baywatch Water Sports. Maria at the supermarket. I look forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks, I have missed you all!

Be careful, Kefalos and its residents quickly find there way into your heart and you can quickly be heartbroken when flying home and seeing the lights on the harbour of Kefalos, trust me I know!!

Kefalos - (Resorts on Kos)

 Hi Dave,

Hope you get this in time for your trip to Kefalos, it's a great place.

Yes there is ATM's (cash machines) in Kefalos. The last time I was there, their was 2 that I knew about.

There is one situated at the Bank in the village (top of hill), I think its the National Bank of Greece (not sure about the name), at first you think the ATM may not take your card as the screen is in Greek but insert your card and the screen will go to English. As far as I am aware there is no bank charges apart from your own but you can always pop into the bank and ask direct.  (For the withdrawl of other currency).

There should also be an ATM (cash machine) just located at the foot of the hill going up to the village, It's located on the main street before going up to the village and you pass the doctors on the right hand side and Mano's Fast Food is on the left hand side of the main road going up to the village (Kefalos village proper). The machine is situated on the left hand side of the road going past the two places I mentioned.  Again insert your card in and follow instructions to see the screen in English. If I remember correctly, this machine does charge a user fee, so check it out before you use it.

I think there might be another machine, but I am not to sure where it is, as I am sure I have read it in these posts somewhere.

But I think the two I have mentioned should be more than enough. I personally always draw my money at the ATM at the bank as I don't like getting Euros here and find the ATM at the bank serves me well but I have on a few occasions used the ATM on the main road.

May - (Best Time to Visit)

John S          10/10

I have been going to Kefalos for a good few year now, nothing beats it!  I find the best time to visit is either late May or September. I have been in Kefalos late May, October and September. If you want weather like good summer days that we used to get, then this is the best time of year I think it's better to go.

However, I would point out, at the moment not to book for too early in May, since most of the shops etc are just opening for the start of the season, so you will not get the full benefit of seeing everything open. The same goes for travel beyond last week September and 1st week of October, since most of the businesses in Kefalos are staring to wind down for the end of the season.

If you want it really hot, hot try the other months but certainly nothing happens from late October to again the following May. Don't know if the travel operators even have routes available then.

click to enlargeKefalos is a great resort, with really friendly locals, the area is not overly busy which is an added bonus. The place is not over built yet, (long may that remain) so see Kefalos at its best!

Enjoy

Trust Car Rentals - (Car Rental on Kos)

John S          10/10

click to enlarge Well I rented a car from TRUST RENTALS and really had no problem. I spoke with Yannis direct who was really helpful with me. I thought I had hired last time from them but now I am not to sure. Anyway back to this time, I did find no problems with the service any concerns were dealt with on the spot and without delay. The price for two weeks car rental was reasonable as far as I was concerned, as I had telephoned around and found TRUST still to be the cheapest. I was collected from my accommodation (by a rep from Trust)taken to sign the paperwork for the car and I had a nice chat. I was even given a free T shirt!! I rented the car from 20th Sept to 04th Oct and all I paid was 300€. I paid on top 50€ deposit. I was not charged anything extra for paying by card for the rental and I had no problems getting my deposit back either. When it was time to return the car, I went to the office, to get someone to nip to the garage with me, so I could pay for the fuel I had used, from my deposit money, save me having to draw any more €uros on the last night of my holidays. I was due to put 1/4 tank back in and Yannis to save me the hastle of going to the petrol station and back, asked if 10€ off my deposit would be fine for the fuel due? I was more than happy with this as it would have probably cost me more than that at the pump. I got the balance of my deposit back with out any problem. So all I have left to say is thanks for the hire and use of the car, I can not complain!

Mayflower Peros Complex - (Accommodation in Kefalos)

John S          10/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlargeAgain for eight years running I stayed at the Peros/Mayflower complex, Kefalos. There is no way I could fault this accommodation. Anyone that I spoke to did not have a bad word to say about the place. The only complaint I heard was from a couple who were unable to get booked in to the place as it was full and they had to stay elsewhere. Dimitri and his family were as usual great, together with the other staff Gingka who did my personal laundry for me ensuring I had a constant supply of freshly laundered and ironed clothing! Anything I needed was not a problem and every day I enjoyed having my breakfast, which lasted for well over an hour as I sat and had my usual chat with Dimitri to let the early morning sun cool down so I could get some sun bathing in without getting burnt! So all I can say is you would be hard pushed to find a better place to stay and the Quiz night on a Sunday (a new entertainment addition to Sunday nights) not only went down well with me but also those who turned up for it from around the resort! I stayed from the Sept to October and did not have a problem keeping my room on either, since I was not being collected to 01.35hrs I had my room right until I left at no extra charge (must admit spent most of the time with Dimitri watching Greek TV and having a final chat). all I can say to all at Peros/Mayflower is sincere thanks to you all for making my holiday a good and relaxing one, with no worries!
