Re Tigaki

Wind surfing, go karting, horse riding all actually in Tigaki and then the capital Kos town is only 20 mins drive away. Good local bus service too. In addition to beaches, bars there's a bowling alley, indoor and outdoor cinema, numerous shops, daily boat trips to other islands

Europcar - (Car Rental on Kos)

Emma T

Europcar provide excellent service and generally have some quite good special offers available, especially when booked through your tour operator. Ther's always a wide selection of cars available and you know, as part of a bigger group its a name you can trust!!

Re Colin's message below

Colin, I think most places require you to be 21 mate and I would be worried that a place that doesn't might not be quite so reputable. In any event you would need to make sure you take both parts of your driving licence with you. Some places say that you don't need it, however watch out for your insurance becoming invalid without the proper documents and also you may be subject to fines.

Kos is a really flat island and you can get around Kos Town and the northern coastal area fairly easily by push bike, failing that there's a good bus network across the island too. Please, whatever happens, don't be tempted to hire a motorbike or quad bike, there've been some very nasty fatal accidents on the island this year!!

Day trip to Turkey - (Kos Excursions)

Emma T

I went to Bodrum twice during the summer and booked through my tour operator. I have to say that although you pay a little bit more, you do have the extra security of knowing it will be well organised, that you'll have a guide and that if, heaven forbid anything should go wrong, you'll have their support to help put things right.

Our particular tour operator organised their trip on a Wednesday to avoid the chaos which ensues on market days(Tuesday and Thursday). I have previously been to bodrum on market day and trust me, it is no fun and you can't really buy anything in the market that you can't find in the ordinary shops!!

If you fancy a day of shopping till you drop and then recovering whilst having a relaxing massage in chilled out surroundings then deff book for Turkey and see if you can book a Hamam (Turkish Bath) too!!

Greek Night - (Kos Excursions)

Emma T

Compared to tother Greek Nights which I've been on, this is by far the best. When you visit Kos, most excursions to "Greek Night" got to the same venue called "Fantasia"

Fantasia is set up in the mountains which means that you can take in the fantastic views of the neighbouring islands to the north of Kos and all around its coastline too. If you're really lucky, you'll get up there in time to catch the magnificent sunsets which are certainly not to be missed!!

The food is okay, obviously not out of this world when cooking for people on such a large scale, but definitely edible and a good way to sample a variety of traditional greek dishes. The wine isn't bad either, like I say I've been on this type of excursion before and its better than the vinegar that they usually serve!!

The main reason for going however has to be the entertainment!! 4 amazing greek dancers, numerous costume changes, a traditional bouzouki band... Brilliant!! A night not to be missed!!
