The Sunburnt Arms - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

Kay H

We have just returned from Kos and are returning in August with our best friends Sue & Steve. One of our first stops with them will be the Sunburnt Arms. We met Gianni, Sam, Anastasia and Tracey there for the first time on this visit and were very taken with their hostelry and hearty welcome. We used it as an afternoon watering hole and on one occasion tried their breakfast - just scrumptious!!!

Our friend Steve is likely to get a bit 'Greeked out' so he will enjoy the English part of their menu and Sue & I will definately be making good use of the free sunbeds. Something here for everyone in this little oasis, even a boucy thing in the water for the kids (young & old) for a small charge.

Sam was also a absolute mine of info helping me with places to get stuff at the best prices and what we will need to bring from England - Cheers Sam & Ta Ra Gianni!!! See you soon!!!!!

El Paso - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

Kay H

This is one restaurant that if you're with friends you must do!!  The atmosphere with the incredibly enthusiastic waiters has to be experienced and though more expensive than most, it's worth it for a one off.

Between the hats, flambayed meals, all singing - all dancing staff, you can't help but smile. If, like ourselves, you are in love with Kos - it's great to see the effect the place has on your guests.

Theatraki Studios - (Accommodation in Kos Town)

Kay H

We didn't actually stay at the Theatraki, as we have a house not too far away, but our friends did as they arrived on Kos a week before us in October 06. During that week, we returned to there after eating out and were made so welcome by Dimitris that even when our friends had left, we went back to the Theatraki bar where Dimitri would call a taxi for us to go back to our house.

The atmosphere here is lovely and the ambiance is guaranteed to keep you coming back, the staff really make you extremely welcome, I cannot praise the staff here enough, especially as we weren't even resident - but I hope this accolade will reassure anyone coming to Theatraki of the great time that awaits them.

Very well done to everyone.Mel & I look forward to catching up with you all again in May!!!!

Mammys Cooking - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

Kay H          9/10

We have been to Mummy's twice after some of our Greek friends raved about it and our first visit was somewhat disappointing but we found ourselves there again on one our recent trips to the island and had a very different experience.

It was a little later in the evening on this occasion and packed with locals who smiled and shook our hands when I attempted some of my faltering Greek, this definately improved our evening. My conclusion is that this is very much a local place but will welcome you - as almost everywhere does on Kos - with open arms; but have a bash at their language, they will love you for it!!!

Kos Airport - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Kay H

I have to agree with Chris Moulton that Zakynthos airport is far worse than Kos. Whilst my sister & bro -in-law love Zante; for me & my husband - NEVER AGAIN !!!!

We now actually fly scheduled flights from Heathrow to Athens; Athens to Kos and whilst Bristol is our nearest airport, we don't clash with the charter flights doing battle. The whole travel experience is at a better time frame ie: no through night travel; and the transfers are less rushed. A taxi from Kos airport to Kos town is about 25e and we have recommended to friends that they skip the coach transfer because you get dragged around at a time of night when everyone is tetchy. For the sake of 25e it's money well spent, but do tell your tour rep that you won't be on the bus!!!

Hope these tips are useful. Mostly be patient as the staff and reps actually do a great job even if to the untrained eye, all looks like chaos.

Hello Phil, my friend Chris and her two grown up daughters are staying here for her second week when you arrive. Unfortunately, my husband & I will be flying back to Costa Lotta In The Rain (UK) on the Sunday you arrive. I've printed off some of these reviews for Chris and I know she can't wait. I hope you all have a fab holiday; which I'm sure you will.

May - (Best Time to Visit)

Kay H

My husband; Mel and I; went to the island for the last two weeks of May this year. The weather was comparable with an ordinary summer day in UK with the occasional cloud and/or shower of rain. Sleeping was bliss - not too hot - and the insects weren't in abundance. This is a great time for anybody who doesn't like the full heat of  SW Greece, most particularly; kids and the more mature amongst us.
