Pantheon Apartments - (Accommodation in Kefalos)

Stayed at the Pantheon in June this year (2005). What a fantastic place. The view from our apartment balcony was amazing, and even though we were right above the bar it was really quiet. The only downfall is the long walk to and from the resort centre (about a mile each way). Going into Kefalos is OK as it is downhill, but the return journey can be quite tiring and scary (make sure you take some comfy shoes). But don't let this ruin your thoughts about staying, the problem is eased somewhat by the Magical Green mini bus. The owners drive the old (and very hot) mini bus into Kefalos at certain times during the day and have a drop off/pick up point. It's very reliable and a great holiday experience. We tried lots of tavernas and bars whilst out there and really recommend Sebastians, Scorpios and the Ausisie steak house. Sydneys bar and B52 on the harbour front are great places for a bit more fun and tasty cocktails. If you get the chance, take the trip over to Nisyros to see the volcano. It's well worth a visit and only takes an hour on the boat.

Hopefully we will be returning to KOS in the near future and wouldn't book anywhere else to stay.

Trip to Nysiros Volcano - (Kos Excursions)

Katie

click to enlargeAbsolutely fantastic. What a great day. The boat trip was very quick (about an hour) and there was always something to look at. The bus ride to the volcano crater is abit hair-raising (very steep cliffs and winding roads) but the drivers have done it a million times before.

The walk down to the crater is quite steep (take some sensible shoes) but it's well worth it. You can feel the ground bubbling under your feet and you can really smell the sulphur as it pours out of the massive holes in the ground. You can tell why so many film crews have used this place as the setting for an alien landscape - it does feel and look like a completely different world.
If you're into natural phenomena's then this is well worth a visit. Enjoy!!
