Ambrosia - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

We visited this Restaurant on 20th May on recommendation from this web site.  To start with we had the Cheese Pies, these proved to be the best we sampled during our one week stay.  For Main Course I had the Souvlaki.  Everything about the meal was excellent and that included the Service provided by Louie to whom we convey our thanks.  The Restaurant was constantly busy but kept very clean at the same time and all customers were treated equally.

Broadway Cafe - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

We called in here for a mid-day snack and were greeted warmly.  My wife chose to have Bacon, Eggs and Chips whilst I went with the Greek Salad and Souvlaki in Pitta.  As per the comments of last year, the quality of the food has continued to be of a high standard and plenty of it.  Other guests at the Hotel we were staying at, tried the Main meals and recommended that we went back for an evening meal, alas we didn't but we certainly will do so, should we return to Kos at a future date.

Caravan Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

Having read through the comments of last year.  The quality of food and service has continued.  It took us a couple of days to find this place but was well worth the effort.  We had meals on two separate occasions, the first we had Stuffed Tomatoes(Tomatoe & Pepper on the Menu) and the Spicy Bekre Meze Pork & Chicken.  On the second visit I had tomato soup to start and we both had the Bekre Meze but my wife had the mild version, we ventured to a sweet of yoghurt with Honey, the portion of honey was very generous.  The welcome from Hassan was one of warm from the first second we appeared at the front of the Restaurant.  This welcome continues throughout your meal.  Very many thanks Hassan, long may you continue in business.

Mammys Cooking - (Restaurants in Kos Town)

On recommendation of other guests at our Hotel, we ventured to sample the delights.  My wife chose Pork Stifado, I went with Giuvetsu.  We arrived at a busy time and therefore it took almost two hours to have our meal.  Like with Caravan, we finished up with yoghurt and Honey but there wasn't so much honey, all the same we still enjoyed it.  Could not find any fault with the food and would recommend anyone to give this place a whirl.

Day trip to Turkey - (Kos Excursions)

With thanks to the recommendation of Tony Ainsworth, we made our acquaintance with George who turned out to be a hospitable person.  The cost of the trip when we did it on 22nd May 2007 was 20 Euros each plus 4 Euros each for the Port Tax, making a total of 24 Euros each.  This being half the price of our Tour Operator.  Maria Star does its own tour of Bodrum but we didn't enquire about this.  Maybe you can help with this info please Tony.

Bahamas Hotel - (Accommodation in Kos Town)

We stayed here from 19th May to 26th May on a Late Deal, Allocated on Arrival holiday and had a brilliant time.  Many thanks to Costas, Billy and their Parents.  For location it couldn't be better, fifteen minutes walk to Town and down a quiet road.  On the quietness front, there were one or two inconsiderate guests who couldn't keep quiet when they came in late but you get this no matter where you stay.  Mad Mary is back again for this year and is as popular with the guests as ever.  Though the Breakfast was very basic, it was enough to give you a good start to the day.  The rooms are good with Hair drier, Fridge, two glasses, two good sized mugs and two teaspoons.  The cleaner is excellent, doing towel changes every two or three days.   It goes without saying that we would stay here again at a future date.

The Asclepeion - (Places to Visit on Kos)

Just to bring this topic up to date.  As Lisa said, you take the Blue Noddy Train which goes from the bus stop through the arch at the castle, near the Tourism Office and opposite two restaurants.  The train now departs on the hour and returns at 15 mins past the hour.  The cost is now 4 Euros return and there is an additional entrance fee to the site which is also 4 Euros.  It is well worth the visit, especially for the view from the very top, looking out over Kos Town and beyond to Turkey.  Anyone who is into ancient history/ruins will enjoy this.

Hi Kevin, I hope you get this in time.  From Kos Town you go to Turgutreis on a Saturday for the Market.  There are plenty of Operators who do it, including Maria Star who we used.  All the best and hope you enjoy.
